    Gen 2 - 1978-1983

    Gen 3 - 2008-Now

#5 - Tires do not have white letters (may be not visible) as the description says? Or it lacks the 340 Six Pak Decal?

I know the answer to the tape cassette deck is the Lexus SC430 though I don't know the last year that it had it.

I know that part. It was the 2010 SC 430.

#4: I know this was a proposal that was shown to AMC. The person had a connection with AMC I think with a part. Trying to remember the name of the car and person.

    • Yes there was a Nash Rambler, then Rambler became it's own brand when Nash & Hudson merged… But technically that's 2 brands and only 2 incarnations. Z-06 got the answer to #2...

    • The cassette deck was factory installed as an option after the last lexus SC had it.

    • ocn: incorrect. A Challenger fan should notice something right off…..

It's gotta be something with an even higher average buyer age than Lexus.....

one of the Ford Panther cars?

#4 was driving me crazy and then I remember what I was missing: The car is the Budd XR-400 and was created by the Budd Company. This vehicle was shown to AMC and was considered for production. However it was scrapped due to flux going on at the company.

The connection to Ford? The Budd Company showed a proposal to Ford of a smaller 2-seat convertible using a sliced up Thunderbird body on the Falcon platform. This was two years before the Mustang was introduced.

DD : "one of the Ford Panther cars?" Correct- source I saw said a cassette was avail on the 2011 Crown Vic, 1 yr after the lexus SC last had it.

WM : Correct on the Budd XR-400 'Mustang'. The 'R' in 'XR' signified 'Rambler', 'XR-400' was swapped to 'Mustang' after AMC walked.

DD : "Wrong grille on the challenger?" Can you clarify?

We're zeroing in on # 5… that leaves #3 unscathed.

'Self-fufilling' production contracts. They had long-running deals with Nash & AMC; looking to up business even more.

If AMC has bitten, the pony car segment might have gone differently. I for one sure would have liked to see AMC's fledgling foray into sporty vehicles extended (both ways) chronologically.

I want to say it's a later year grille on an earlier year body. Like a '71 double hoop on a '70

DD : have to give it to you here because you are right on it.

The ad was from the performance models Scat Pack 8-page ad from 1971; that's a 'one of none' '71 Challenger T/A.

    Dodge did not build a '71 T/A.  :D

OK, it's Tuesday. Here's the answer to the unanswered question #3 for this installment :

    IMG_6262.JPG

Fuel injection emblem for full-size '59 Chevys. Supposedly extremely rare (this emblem was new to me last week), one online unverified source said 19 cars built in '59 (non-Corvette) with FI.
