Direct injection in '06

Featured Replies

Can DI be put on OHV engines? That would at least make the power from the HV V6s respectable. I'd assume that means the STS and SRX will get the 3.6 with DI first, and then the NG CTS will get it as well. Hopefully the LaCrosse gets it, and I'm guessing the Lambdas will all have it. Maybe the Aura too?

I believe there is an ecotec variant with direct injection available in Europe already.

Ah there ya are. Also the first confirmation from GM that they ARE doing a Solstice GXP with a turbo ecotec. (duh)

I know it is a duh  but it is good to read.

I'm not sure of the technical details of how DI is implemented in the OHC engines, but I suppose it's not impossible, if they somehow figure out how to enclose the spark plug and fuel injector into one unit, and supply both spark and fuel to it safely.
