  1. Hey welcome! We have a few LIers on here, myself included. What part of the island are you from?
  2. I see a fair amount of Stingray in the front and sides of the car. Not that I'm implying that one copied the other, just that there's always been eery similarities between Corvette and Ferrari design.
  3. I drove a 4dr as a rental. I admit to liking it except when driving it through a mountain pass at 50-75mph in Nevada where it's top-heaviness became pretty apparent. I do get the bug for a Wrangler periodically. I'd only get the 2dr though with the stick and the soft top. I do like the more squarish styling of the current generation, and the V6s they use now appear to be holding up well.
  4. Cross-fire injection was used in 82 and 84. In 85 they switched to TPI. Chevy aslo carried over the 62 engines in the 63, and the 67 engines in 68. Yeah, I am not hung up on the 5.3 displacement and assuming it's a "truck" engine. After all, 5.3 was a Corvette displacement long before it became used in trucks
  5. This idea is not without precedent..remember the plethora of engine options available on the mid-60s-early 70s Corvettes? Usually a small block and a big block, each with two or three different levels of tune. No reason why this can't be true again. A C7 with a 400hp 5.3 should perform at least as well as a 2005 C6. Similar output to the LS2 but in a lighter body. I wouldn't be so quick to call this car a slouch. Only thing I disagree with...I'd still call this car a Singray.
  6. The lady I fancy prefers the classics, and is particularly fond of Corvettes, so this one is a no brainer: Or maybe not, because given that she currently drives a convertible, she might want another one: What the heck...it's only money. I'll get her both, and I'll drive the one she's not using that day.
  7. This. There are a couple of front and rear fascia designs in the photo gallery on page one. Holden hasn't shown their full hand yet. The Chevy SS will most likely be wearing the Commodore SS body kit, etc. which is still under wraps, sort of.
  8. My truck is a homebody. It's only been to NJ once, and briefly at that. Other than that it never leaves NY.
  9. It's a shame that GM still hasn't created a suitable replacement for the Saturn Ion. If only they'd just build a class-leading small car that's reliable, well-built, fuel efficient, roomy, and chock full of features and gadgets. I bet it'd become GM's best seller all over the world. Oh wait...
  10. Probably can be solved with the seat tracks from a crew cab rear seat, some scrap metal, a welder, and some ingenuity.
  11. Save for some very minor bits, it's the Converj. I'm glad they didn't dumb it down.
  12. I can't help but feel like, for the first time in my life, that I've in earnest witnessed the introduction of the finest Corvette since the 1963 Split window Stingray. All Corvettes that followed had some sort of compromise that nagged them for much of their existence. This C7 damn near reaches Corvette perfection the way the C2s did. To see Reuss, Welburn, etc act less like company executives and more like 14 year old girls at a Justin Bieber concert tells the whole story about just how awesome this car is.
  13. Eh, I personally wouldn't miss the extra .2-.4. I'd rather have the tidier form factor so that I can still slip it in my front pocket. My current Torch 9860 with the Otterbox is too bulky to attempt to stuff it in, and I won't go belt-holster.
  14. Go ahead and make fun of me, but I'm waiting for this to drop in late Jan/early Feb.
  15. From owners manuall of the 3.5l ecoboost V6: "Your vehicle is designed to run on regular fuel with an octane rating of 87 or higher. For best overall performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel will be most noticeable in hot weather or in severe duty applications such as towing a trailer." Most people aren't taking into account the significant hidden costs associated with turbocharged engines in general. Though they can run on regular, premium is required to achieve the manufacturer's performance and econony specs. in the case of the f-150, if you're not willing to pay the extra money at the pump, you degrade the ecoboost's performance such that the v8 becomes a better option - same performance, the same (or better) economy, and lower costs to operate and maintain.
  16. The regular cab short box is absolutely gorgeous.
  17. I don't think the 130 is dead yet. It wouldn't be making the auto show rounds again this year if it were. It probably has more than a few supporters in GM's upper management. Either it ends up growing slightly in size and mass and morphs into the next Camaro, or it stays as is (save for a '14 Impala front end) and becomes Chevy's entry RWD funmobile. A car like the 130 would do really well overseas, where gas taxes and displacement taxes would limit the Camaro's market penetration. It'd be pretty easy to throw a lion on the grill and send a few to Australia as the Torana.
  18. Some touching up of the front end and this could definitely fit the bill.
  19. The small block v8 is so good, I seriously doubt there would be any fuel economy gains from a bi-turbo v6. However, if they can get the v6s performance specs within striking distance of the LT1, GM could be in a position to offer two Corvettes that, while having similar prices and specs on paper, behave completely differently on the track.
  20. I wanna learn to drive a stick, once and for all.
  21. Bad news: your toilet decided to back up at just the right time so now you have diarrhea water all over your bathroom floor.
  22. I actually would really like to do a 2dr Blazer and/or Jimmy but I'm getting on a plane for a longish Christmas break tomorrow. But, I'm brining a laptop with photoshop on it so I may be able to pull one off if I can get enough me time.
  23. Nice! . The 5.3 in the 1500s actually does pretty good for itself mpg-wise given all that it pulled around. The 6.0 was an extremely thirsty engine. I recall Silverado SS owners getting 8mpg. My father's LS6 Chevelle does better than that. Didn't the GMT-800 Escalade EXT get the 6.0? It's a shame they didn't continue the 2500 avalanche and replace the 8.1 with the duramax. That would be sweet.
