Solstice review

That has to be the gearing.  It weighs more than the new MX-5 but still less than my car and the engine has all the crap that is supposed to improve mileage, so my best guess would be the gearing.

well the 3.5L in the 'bu can pull off 0-60 in 7.6 sec with very tall gearing on 4 gears. an engine with 1 less litre and 2 less cyls not to mention about 400 less lbs to lug around... and yet it still gets worse gas mileage for the sake of half a second?

no offence, but my 2.4L I5 with no VVT... no nothing gets about 20/25 with 168hp and 162lb torque and thats with a 4spd overdrive automatic... granted 0-60 on that thing is like 9.6 seconds...

Well, with an I-5 it is either a Volvo or an Acura. If its an Acura, you get that mileage because Honda works miricles, just like Jesus. If its a Volvo, it gets that kind of mileage because the engineers had to do it so they could drive from the cold weather testing sites to the nearest strip joint that had the good hot Swedish chicks dancing.
