Fiat News: 2017 Fiat 124 Spider to Start $25,990

Recommended Posts

The Fiat 124 Spider might be based on the Mazda MX-5 Miata, but it features a turbocharged engine and is slightly less than its platform - aside from the base trim.

Fiat announced pricing for the 124 Spider today. The base Classica model starts at $25,990 (includes a $995 destination charge). Compared to the base MX-5 Miata Sport, the 124 Spider Classica is about $255.00 more expensive. Both models come with 16-inch wheels, black cloth seats, and LED taillights. Mazda ones up Fiat by offering LED headlights.

This changes when you climb up further in the 124 Spider's trim lineup:

  • Lusso: $28,490 ($2,395 less than the comparable MX-5 Miata Grand Touring). Comes with 17-inch alloys, heated leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 7-Inch touchscreen with navigation.
  • Abarth: $29,190 ($230.00 less than the comparable MX-5 Miata Club). Comes with front and rear Bilstein sport suspension, mechanical limited-slip differential, front strut tower bar, 17-inch alloy wheels finished in a gun metal grey, and quad-tip exhaust. Brembo brakes and a set of Recaro sport seats are optional.

Wrapping up the 124 Spider lineup is the limited edition Prima Edizione Lusso that comes with an exclusive blue paint finish and premium leather seats. This model only comes with an automatic.

Not sure that is be happy if I was Mazda. Undercutting their prices seems to be a bit of a jerk move.

Jerk move or not, this will sell, but honestly does nothing for me. Plus Sergio is already raping FCA and overpaid to boot. So I hope this fails. The board needs to eject that man.

Ford's latest ST model, the 2019 Edge ST will be arriving at dealers later this summer with a base price of $43,350 (including destination). According to CarsDirect, the ST is $1,585 more expensive than the Edge Sport it replaces. But you're getting more car for the money.
To begin, the Edge ST has a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 producing 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The Sport's 2.7L EcoBoost only produced 315 hp and 350 lb-ft. There's also a new eight-speed automatic with rev-matching, retuned suspension, and a more aggressive body kit.
An optional Performance Brake Package that brings forth larger brake rotors and red calipers will add $2,695 to the base price. But as CarsDirect notes, you'll need to add Equipment Group 401A to get the brake package. 401A includes a number of comfort and convenience features such as heated and ventilated front seats; 180-degree camera, hands-free liftgate, navigation, and Ford's CoPilot+ suite of driver aids for an additional $5,585.
