Fiat unquestionably does, if it has any image at all. But Chrysler & Dodge have very good images- you're stuck in 1982 with that. Dodge also isn't "dead weight"- they moved 422K units in '19 withOUT Ram. Alfa is what's dead weight; 18K units sold, down almost 23% from 2018. Citroen & Peugeot are dead on arrival- lost in the crowd with nothing to pull buyers with and a negative image. Carlos can try and bring something here, but he had better understand the market before pushing billions anywhere or he's going to lose.3 points

Ferrari engineered 6 cylinder under the hood too... and it makes a sweet sweet sound. LIKE a Ferrari. I wouldnt buy it though. I would much much rather have that 80 thousand dollah Challenger with that sweet sweet supercharged Hemi.3 points

I only buy from Costco anymore because they only stock excellent quality tires as prices better than any competition. I have searched and price shopped tires for the fleet many times over the years and every time I've NOT used Costco, I've gotten burned. Also, Costco doesn't give me lip about warranty replacement, they just do it as long as it's still in warranty. And if you buy the tires there, the road hazard warranty is free for the first 5 years. I've used that benefit a couple times. CNet is correct in that the selection of tires they have is limited. When I first needed tires on the Encore, they didn't stock the size from either brand they carry (Michelin or Bridgestone) and I ended up going with a local chain. Narrowing it down a bit further... I'm pretty much only ever buying Michelin Defenders. I've had good results from them on the Honda for 2 sets of tires and the warranty is long. That's what the Avalanche will get once it is time and the Encore will be scoring a set this fall if we keep it into winter.3 points

Or look at it this way if you prefer to persist in your car>horse theory : Horses (9.2 million vs. 273 million autos) hold 3.4% of the existing U.S. automobile market share. ? ? ? ?3 points
-
I do expect EV sales to rise; without question. But as of last year's figures, the market share is very very low, still. Automobiles were not a replacement for the horse. It was a brand new product segment. People didn't trade in a horse on a new car, and they didn't plow their fields with a new car. The TRACTOR replaced the horse. ?3 points

The new Chevy's have really grown on me. Hugely. I love all of the above... That would be a wicked ride. I am hugely impressed by all of the previous generations of the Z06 so...yes... So we did a thing....bought a 2020 Ranger, SXT, fX4 packages, black. My wife doesn't like to brag so I promiesed I would not post pics on line. But very happy with it. Two wheel drive Extra cab, decent little truck.3 points

I'd take a 70's or 80's K5 or Jimmy. Have always liked the K5, love the square body years, miss my '86 3/4 ton 4x4 long bed Chev., never should have sold it was super clean. '55 Willys would be cool too. Built like these ones...3 points

^^^ By THAT time, charging EVs would most probably be wireless... By THAT time, charging EVs would most probably done on the fly while driving. By THAT time, the poor single mother wont be driving a ratty 19 year old Corolla, she will be driving a ratty 19 year old Prius. A technicality as a Prius is an ICE hybrid. Probably banned because it does roll with ICE. OK...she will be driving a ratty 19 year old Chevy Bolt. More realistically, she will probably be driving a 19 year old ratty Cadillac Lyriq as we all know, poor people in North America still want to look good so she would rather be seen in a Cadillac rather than a Chevy... (making your scenario more real...) Besides, depreciation after a decade gets ALL cars. ALL cars are dirt cheap...and in THIS scenario, we are talking about 2 decades of rattiness... City planners and guvment officials NEVER plan ANYTHING out logically. We all know that... But what does THAT have to do with banning ICE vehicles in the very near future. You do know that is happening, right?2 points

Anybody else notice that the Genesis emblems are NOT consistent at all. From the back of the car to the steering wheel they are not even close. Obviously, the ones on the outside of the car will be larger, but it looks nothing like the steering wheel emblem that has flatter wings and is slimmer and looks more like a Chrysler emblem, even the emblem on the window sticker is different from the others. Word to Hyundai Corp., get all your graphics guys together and use the same d@mn emblem if you want to have brand recognition at all. Good thing it still spells out "Genesis" for the non car people out there. You're welcome, HMC.2 points

Fiat? Oh, yeah, no thanks. Now, if by Fiat you mean an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio, we're back on the same page. Yes, we all know they're known to be unreliable, but what a sweet, distinctive looking ride inside and out. Definitely a Ferrari feel with the interior design and the same red Start/Stop button on the steering wheel. Sat in one at our last Auto show, she was a gem.2 points

Watching the Video again, I just picked up that UPS has signed an order for 10,000 of the Arrival van for the European market. Death to the noise and smell of Diesel delivery vans. Love that they say there is NO FOCUS on autonomous delivery van as a person will need to be there to deliver the actual package, so right now is moving to a proper quiet delivery van for inner city to suburban use.2 points

Install CAI and buy a Hypertech MaxEnergy handheld tuner. It really helps throttle response and you can disable the AFM V-4 crap that eventually destroys the engine, run a reg. or premium fuel tune, adjust for tire size etc... I can attest to the fact that it's totally worth it and it works well. I've also found over the years that Magnaflow has some of the best sound and build quality for AM exhaust with their flow through design it lets her breath, but it doesn't have that obnoxious drone sound that develops in the cab like some other brands.2 points
-
I do, and the thing that saved me from costly tickets was the fact that none of my 3 vehicles had over 160hp. Now I have a vehicle with 326 horsepower (and probably a CAI coming soon). I gotta watch myself in the new wheels.2 points

It was on the AWD Honda CR-V. I'm pretty good about tire rotations too. I have it done at every oil change and on the CR-V that was at 7,500 miles. Keep in mind that the quality of the roads here in PA are substantially different than what you have out your way.2 points

I buy the Defenders because they drive well, ride well, and I get good fuel economy with them. A big However, is that I never get full treadlife out of them. I rely on that long warranty because I kill them in about 35k miles, but I get more than 50% off the next set of tires. Michelin has to be losing money on me when I buy tires. The Goodyear Triple treads on the Encore have lasted 55k miles and technically still have treadlife left before needing to be replaced. But they are dryrotted and hard. The car rides rough and we noticed an immediate hit to our fuel economy when we first put them on. It came with Continental ContiTracks and we were able to cruise at 34mpg in it. These days with the Goodyears, we barely manage 30mpg highway. The new Costco ad is offering $110 off a set of for Michelins, so I think it will be going in for them before the end of the month.2 points

If FCA would sell the LX platform cars with a V8 and AWD, I would soooo be there. I'm surprised the '63 to '91 Jeep Grand Wagoneer isn't on the list. I would totally daily a '91.2 points

^ Cannot agree more with @Drew Dowdell About the Michelin Defenders. They have worn so even and well and I suspect will go well past their mileage warranty on my Escalade and SS. Better wearing than the Bridgestone which only sips to the 50% mark compared to Michelin which does it to the 10% mark. A superior tire and yes does cost more, but worth it!2 points

And completely different buyers. I could also spend 29.6 on a Kia Soul, a Honda CRV, or a Hyundai Santa Fe.....very different buyers for those also. She is 24 years old and did it all herself without my help. She also has a hefty down payment for a house saved. She is doing well for herself. A litle bit of straight line love...and a bloack ranger at the 2>06 mark! Not every car needs to handle like the 86....2 points

One more way of looking at your silly example : It took 150 years for the automobile to get to 96% of the market vs. horses... and some believe pure EVs will have 100% vs. IC in a mere 10 or 15 years / 30 years total. (STOP IT, I can't laugh anymore!)2 points

Ohio. I wanted the fuel economy of 2wd, and less to break on the truck as I intend to keep it for a really long time. Had 4 miles on it when I started the test drive... Got the 6 foot bed Supercab rather than the crew cab as I wanted a longer bed for hauling. But the new Ford advert says it all...2 points

Absolutely! Yep, Shadow Black, STX package, FX2 package, 2020, supercab, happy guy. My wife doesn't want me posting pics of it on the internet, but it is real. She just doesn't like bragging....but I did send a pic of it on FB/mesenger to several members here.2 points

I am willing to bet we see Fiat go away from the US again as people here just do not want their crap. The only way Fiat stays and lives on is by going CUV with Mid and full size.2 points

Reports based on car sales reporting info shows EV sales up 3% for 2019, but Plug-in Hybrids were down 31% for 2019. Tesla controls the majority of the market with 8 out of every 10 EVs sold being a Tesla, Chevrolet being the second best selling model at 6.8% market share. Sales reports show 16 different brands offering 30 different models in the US. The top 6 models control 94.4% of the EV/PHEV market. Of the top 3 best selling PHEV models, Prius Prime, Prius Hybrid and Honda Clarity PHEV. The Honda Clarity was the top seller in 2019, it replaced the #1 seller which was the Chevrolet Volt in 2018. Tesla Model 3 is the #1 seller in the US for 2019 and 2018. Tesla Model X was down 26% for 2019 and the Model S was down 45% for 2019. Chevrolet BOLT replaced Tesla Model S in the #3 spot meaning Tesla is no longer the the sole owner of the Podium for #1,2 & 3 in the US. Positive news for the VW EV line up as it grows in popularity and sales showing that their ID line of dedicated EVs could do very well. The Audi E-tron has already reach #6 in the nation for sales doubling what the Jaguar i-Pace is selling in 2019. https://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-analysis-2019-ev-phev/#:~:text=Sales of EVs and PHEVs in the US,US car market%2C up from 1.3% in 2018. Hello McFly, Pandemic is now when all the data is finally in. So processing all the data has been slow. The best that can be done is to look at the sales registration data, but more info will come in as people get back to work. Your RIGHT, ICE started off at ZERO Percent slowly replacing the Horse and Buggy.2 points

Miata is more pure driving esxperience, and has much more of a cult following. They ahve a racing series in Austrailia with these where the competition is really quite tight and quite good. You don't need a ton of power for good racing. Formula Ford, Spec Racer Ford, and SCCQA Improved touring is loads better than NASCAR or the like in my opinion. I spent several eyars crewing and working as a race official...amatuire racing withc ars like these is a total blast. Would take that ten billion times before I would buy a staid boring Mercedees sedan.2 points

Its in California... EVs are EVERYWHERE... I know we wanna bash EVs every PHOQUING chance we get, and I know we wanna spew the 1-2% of the market, but... in California, EV market share is pretty high... I had sooooo wanted to post a 1955 Chieftain when I posted the Buick pic a couple of days ago. I just ran out of steam. I have been tired from work these past few days. I was just too lazy to search for the perfect picture of one. But then Balthy posted the front end. Great minds think alike. So Ill do Balthy, myself and the car some justice right now.2 points

Nothing about that comment has anything to do with my childhood ya weirdo. I had a great childhood, how about you? Oh that's right you don't get a long with your parents like I do. So I guess it makes sense you'd go there. It must be the lack of oxygen up in Seattle with you and the stinky hippy anarchists you live around1 point

By 2070... You could also say that many, many...many city centers would be banning new or old, ICE in their territory. I know that Montreal has kicked that idea around about banning ICE in the downtown area in the near future. THAT concept is already in effect with diesel in many parts of China and Europe. Many forget that this EV thing is NOT just a market acceptance thing. The market might not accept it, but what choice does the market have when the very vocal minority is pressuring governments to kill ICE. And on top of that very vocal minority, the ones that delve into EVs, most of those folks SWEAR to NEVER return to ICE. And that very vocal minority, is very much so PERSUADING ICE folk to DITCH ICE. How do you think Tesla gets all those sales? (that minority WILL eventually get to be a majority.) This new generation of kids, the ones that are starting to drive NOW and the younger gen...dont see a future with ICE... Tesla doesnt do much advertising. Their MARKETING is basically THE product (vehicle AND charging infrastructure) AND WORD OF MOUTH... Dont laugh... I have heard rumours that NYC and LA also have been pondering the idea of banning ICE in their centers sometime in the future... and if THAT happens...it dont matter how many ICE vehicles there are in circulation... GM and others are HAPPILY readying the buying public to buy EVs from a future like that...1 point
