Kia Corporation revealed ahead of their planned world premiere the EV6. This is Kia's first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) influenced by an all new Design philosophy, embracing Kia's shifting focus to global electrification. Kia announced that the EV6 was their first BEV to embrace the following: 'Opposites United' is Kia's design philosophy for the Future vehicles Philosophy formed of five pillars: Bold for Nature, Joy for Reason, Power to Progress, Technology for Life, and Tension for Serenity EV6 exterior design characterized by High-tech details Modern and spacious interior design made possible by Kia's first dedicated EV platform (E-GMP) The EV6 strikes strong in the companies new Opposites United taking inspiration from nature and humanity. The visual identity evoking positive forces with natural energy and contracting combinations of sharp stylistic elements and sculptural shapes. This distinctive crossover inspired BEV is a showcase of human-centered, progressive design and electrification. Welcome to the Future of Kia Power to Progress is the tag that Kia has for the EV6 as this is a global collaborative effort between Namyang Korea, Frankfurt Germany and Irvine California USA design studios. Quote: At the front, characteristic daytime running lights display a sleek, modern appearance. They form part of the car’s ‘Digital Tiger Face’, a design progression evoking the spirit of Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose Grille’ for the electrified era. The design of the lamps also includes a ‘sequential’ dynamic light pattern. Below this, a low air intake visually widens the front of the car, accentuating its high-tech image. Part of the optimization of air flow from the front, the air is channeled through and under the car’s flat floor for optimum aerodynamics. The side profile displays a crossover-inspired design aesthetic, which is modern, sleek and aerodynamic. This contrasts with sharp lines and high-tech details to create a sense of tension in the design. A swept-back windshield provides dynamism and purpose, while bold rear haunches add volume. A character line runs along the bottom of the doors curving upwards towards the rear wheel arches, visually elongating the profile of the car. The interior design is to profile an innovative use of space, creating a unique spatial and driving experience. QUOTE: One of the most striking elements of the new interior is a seamless high-tech curved high-definition audio visual and navigation (AVN) screen. The simple form language of the wide curved screen and the slim dashboard give the space an open feel. Extending from the steering wheel across to the center of the car, it displays an instrument cluster in front of the driver, and infotainment and navigation above the center console. The width of the screen creates an immersive experience for the driver, while a minimal number of physical buttons offer an uncluttered and soothing driving experience. Underneath the AVN screen, passengers control HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) settings by using haptic ‘buttons’, while below this panel, the dashboard slopes away towards the front of the car, creating a sense of space and openness for the front-seat passengers. The seats are slim, lightweight and contemporary, and clad in modern, visually interesting and robust fabrics created using recycled plastics, which create yet greater openness in the cabin. To quote Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Center for Kia Karim Habib: “We want our products to deliver an instinctive and natural experience that improves the daily lives of our customers. Our aim is to design the physical experience of our brand and to create original, inventive, and exciting electric vehicles. The ideas of our designers and the purpose of the brand are becoming more connected than ever, with our customers at the center of what we do and influencing every decision that we make,” added Karim Habib. 17208_Source_of_inspiration_Opposites_united.mp4 Kia reveals new design philosophy and full images of EV6 (kiamedia.com) View full article1 point

I hate dealerships myself. I dont like the buying process. Its not the back and forth haggling that gets me. Im OK with that. I do this. I do my due diligence before hand. I know what I want so when I actually sit down in the salesman's office, Im ready to buy. I haggle, he/she haggles, we come to an agreement. SOLD! That process takes 10-15 minutes. Maybe 20 at MOST. My do diligence is done days, weeks, and sometimes even months before to which I know what car I want. My problem is when we agree on price, its the ordeal when I go to the finance guy's office. I have to pass credit. No problem. Its the next thing that I cant stand. The shyte phoquing questions and up-selling about individual extended warranties on the engine -- steering wheel -- tire fill-up valve, TRUCOAT, Febreeze on the seats, special winter air for the tires in the winter and special summer air for the summer... and its usually all no answers for me, but it takes a phoquing hour/hour and a half. The thing is, if I was allowed to talk anytime during this process, it be a quick no to everything and in 5 minutes we'de be done, but its part of the process...1 point

I disagree with you, Rivian already has a couple dozen delivery van in the greater LA area and will have another dozen or so in the San Francisco area. The plan is to have over 30,000 by the end of the year being used on top of the R1T (June Deliveries) and R1S (July Deliveries) to start, I honestly think they will ramp faster with far better quality than Tesla and on a product far more people want. Tesla, aka Musk is stretching himself far too thin for more look at me narcassistic life than building and delivering quality profitable products. I expect Rivian to out do Tesla in the US at a faster pace than Tesla has been growing in a shorter time frame.1 point

https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1131744_2022-kia-ev6-with-tesla-model-y-beating-acceleration-and-charging-the-stinger-of-evs The EV6 is Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle Kia’s claiming quicker acceleration times for its top EV6 than what Ford has teased for the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition or what Tesla currently claims for the Model Y Performance. It also charges in less time. The EV6 is a five-seat hatchback. Kia describes the silhouette of the EV6 as “crossover-inspired” and “designed to deliver something different in the crossover class,” so it’s an entry that, at first look, might appear like a car or a utility vehicle. The EV6 will be offered in six different variants. EV6 and EV6 GT-line models will offer a choice of 58.0-kwh or 77.4-kwh battery packs, with rear- or all-wheel drive. Power figures start at 167 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque with the small battery and RWD to 321 hp and 446 lb-ft with the larger battery and AWD. The top-performance EV6 GT version offers 577 horsepower and 546 lb-ft, and is capable of getting to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds. The EV6 GT version gets an exclusive software-based limited-slip differential for more able all-weather handling. While the performance part of it depends on the battery and configuration, all versions are capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, using 800V fast-charging (exact power not yet disclosed). It can recover 62 miles of range in less than 4.5 minutes (in rear-wheel-drive form, with the larger pack). On the range front, there’s not a lot of news to report quite yet. The EV6 will get WLTP range results up to 510 km (317 miles). EPA-cycle results aren’t yet available, though based on other EV results it might equate to nearly 300 miles—meaning that it might also be on par with the Model Y Performance's current 303 miles. The same platform is due to underpin seven of the 11 battery electric models from Kia due by 2026, as Kia targets 880,000 annual global sales of battery electric models by 2030—with hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric models together adding up to 40% of its sales by then. Meanwhile Kia disclosed that it expects to sell about 100,000 EV6s annually, with just 20,000 of those headed to the U.S. (30,000 will be sold in its home Korea, and 40,000 will go to Europe).Kia notes that it will be available for online reservations starting March 30 in some markets. The company revealed that first deliveries won’t happen until early in 2022. Exact U.S. details are yet to come.1 point

Unless manufacturer itself decide to be competitive and have discounts. I doubt any consumers will miss going to private dealerships.1 point

I disagree. While Tesla has quality issues, their engineering is still years ahead of everyone else that just joints now the EV game. Rivian hasn't produced one production vehicle yet. Lets see how long it will take them to make 100k vehicles. Considering the prices their vehicles starting with I think it will take a while.1 point

Yup, when you can't actually talk to somebody because they think you're trolling... you troll them. Are you referencing myself in the bolded section? You're welcome to leave. I don't believe it will happen. It feels like the IHOP "scenario" a couple years ago.-1 points
