  1. Greens can be a negative. Very few of them work. As for boring, I've been boring for a long time. But, at the same time, reliability can be a good form of boredom. I filed away this photo within the last few days. It's very green. I saw this within the last 6 months from a DART rail train going through a nice part of Dallas. This thing is a fright.

  2. "An oversample of +/- 350 voters per state was conducted in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, and Hawaii between October 18-31. State oversamples were recruited separately via stratified sampling and not included as part of the national sample. The sample size in Hawaii was 153 respondents. In California, Florida, and Texas, respectively, 233, 195, and 196 voters were surveyed as part of the national poll, and the respondents were weighted to approximate a target sample of registered voters in the state." This seems like a pretty small sample size to write a headline of: Also, not surprised by the "unbiased" sponsor...

  3. Missing the point. SMK is saying basically that Lucid will struggle because there are not enough dealers and no one is familiar with them. My response is that Tesla went through the same thing (a decade ago) yet they are successful today (their many flaws notwithstanding). It’s that simple and my statement has nothing to do with individual models and such. What? By your logic, GM should not have succeeded in the early 1900s because Ford was first to sell to the masses. Ford was first. GM was just another brand. Not even reading the rest of your post when it starts out with stuff like that. Just more apples to oranges nonsense.

  4. I hope that we'll be better equipped to deal with this crap and not alter how we live our lives. It never ends. I also hate the term "bucket list." I probably use the term "to do list" more. I recall that AF had 3 nonstops a day from Montreal to Paris, all on different wide bodies. You might get on either a 747, a 777, or an Airbus 340! I once flew from YUL to Paris on the evening 747. It was a fantastic experience. I got to sit upstairs. I didn't even ask for that. I got upgraded. Then, the flight is less than 7 hours. Then, based on the direction of the take-off, I got to see the Oratory, Mont-Royal, Centre-Ville, and the river from my window. I only wish I had had a better camera. AF does not plan to put the A 380 back into service. And, if they did, I doubt they'd use it for Montreal. I was scheduled on an AF A 380 from Atlanta to Paris, and connecting onward to Italy, in June of 2020. Obviously, they cancelled the trip and put the miles back into my account. I was counting the days for the trip ... and to fly on that behemoth.

  5. At this rate, at least their EV efforts will be fully baked, unlike Mercedes' efforts thus far. Okay, the EQS is overall really good, it just looks like a compliance automobile rather than a flagship with presence. Their other EVs have been pretty hot garbage as well...

  6. Exterior size, yes. If you look at the interior dimensions, it's nearly identical to the EQS.

  7. The Air does not start at 138k. You can get in one with 406 miles of range and 480hp for $77,400. It is priced very similarly to the Model S.

  8. The original Stutz Blackhawk was the purest, and I do like it. The rims were unique, the thin-stripe tires are neat, and there weren't yet any garish colors or wide-whites/wire basket rims. Don't even get me started on the converts or the 4-drs. The original's proportions are very good, not exclusively because it was based on the '69 Grand Prix stunner. The only thing I would change would be to eliminate that thick chrome... whatever-it-is above the side exhaust. But yeah; Olds covered the gist of what I was referring to; over-the-top Neo-classics. For the record, I kinda like the Cadillac interior posted above because it's SO different (but I don't care for greens much on autos & would have to see it in person). Cadillac used to have dozens & dozens of different upholstery options in a given year. The Regal has nothing wrong with it stylistically, it's just boring.

  9. The obstacle for Daimler is that the EQS is widely panned stylistically, but it cannot afford to fail because it's the literal future of the line. And it's hard to believe that Daimler would build 2 models in the same line, side-by-side, with all the massive investment, because they don't know how to properly transition from one to another and they don't know which one must fail.

  10. Flying in an A380 is definitely a thing I wanna do. (I despise the term 'bucket list' so Ill refuse to call it that...) Unfortunately, Air France had long since stopped flying it (2014 being the last year I think) for Paris-Montreal directs flights and I dont think British Airways will do London-Montreal anytime time soon with the A380 either... Early early reports are saying that Omicron wont be that severe. Hoping that it wont be. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-59463879 https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/11/28/omicron-covid-variant-spreads So this is reverse fear from the media and politicians? Hurry, lets starts conspiracy theories because media and politicians are saying NOT to worry...when we damn well know they put fear to sell to us and control us...

  11. The same thing was said about Tesla. How'd that turn out?

  12. Thanks! Yeah- after being married almost 20 years (together for 25) I thought I would be totally destroyed. But she inspired us to do better- something we want to honor her with. I still have my moments (expected of course) but I am getting stronger every day. What surprises me now is all the attention I seem to be getting. Very strange, as I am not looking for it. Good news is I drive everything in my fleet…so nothing sits for too long. And my son still amazes me every day…he is so much like his mom!

  13. EQS is a stylistic mess, that's true, but unfortunately it IS the next s-class; Daimler is following many other OEMs in selling a next gen model alongside a 'classic' variant, hedging their bet on the EQS acceptance. Which I wouldn't be surprised is shockingly poor.

  14. Wonder how long before Omnicron virus version shuts it all down again. ?

  15. ^ To be fair, the Tesla sedan selling remotely close to that price tier -the Model S- peaked in sales way back in 2016, and 2019 was less than 50% of that number. The Model 3 cannibalized the Model S's feet off at the hips. But that has nothing to do with the dealer (or lack thereof) model as it does for the creaky ancient-ness of the Model S.

  16. Tesla was first, so they will be the hot brand, Lucid is just the next EV brand, not the original. Also if you look at just Model S sales, they aren't that strong. The great majority of Tesla's volume is Model 3 and Y. And you can get a Model S for like $75k even. It will probably be another year before Lucid has a model under $100k, and then how long before they have a full line? I know people love these EV start ups, but any big OEM could probably put out 5 electric SUVs, a pickup or two, a van, a couple sedans and a coupe and have a full line up in about 5 years time. Because they are used to overhauling a line up ever 5-7 years. There is no way Lucid has an 8-10 model line in 5 years time. I just watched Sandy Monro's video on where he thinks the market will be in 2030, with Tesla having 25% of the US market, the Chinese having about 25% and companies like GM and Ford and Toyota being under 5% market share. Which I just don't see happening, Chinese cars won't catch on that fast (unless they are like 50% the cost of an American car) and these EV brands even if they build manufacturing capacity, aren't going to get their price down to beat ICE or the legacy car maker's price. Tesla is getting outsold in the USA and the world by BMW, Mercedes and Audi right now, and Lexus in the USA. All credit to Tesla for pushing the industry to EV's and creating competition and shaking up the market, but no chance in hell is Tesla selling more cars than GM, Ford, and Toyota combined in 9 years time.
