  1. The problem is that both Nissan and Mistubishi are just about out of money. No matter the marketing message of X amount of new ICE and EV models coming over the next 3 years, they are out of money to develop them and their arrogance of poor management will cause them to crash. Honda actually had more to loose taking them on as it would have benefited everyone but no one wants to bow to a new master.

  3. For Nissan, Nissan is cooked either way. Honda merger or not. Nissan hasnt had a clear vision for itself since the mid to late 1980s. With the success of their launches of 1st generation Altimas and sport sedan Maximas of the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s, hot compact car Sentra SE-Rs of the early 1990s, the 1st gen 240SXs and thr late 1980s300 ZXTTs, it started to go slowly down hill from the mid 1990s... Infinity was always a unique offering true to Nissan vision, it really never had much of an identity to cling on which I have a feeling spilled over to the Nissan brand eventually...from the mid 1990s. Their offroading SUVs from X-Trails to the Pathfinder and XTERRA took a little longer to lose their identities, they too, became vehicles with no purpose from Id say the 2010s. And quite honestly, I dont think Honda would know what direction they would need to pull Nissan to as Honda too, has had identity problems which they havent figured out for themselves. I agree with you @G. David Felt, Honda would have been dragged down to die as well. Nissan is cooked. Mergering with Honda would have brought down Honda too. I think Nissan is unsalvageable.

  4. They had high performance V8 gremlins. The Pacer was an interesting animal.

  5. The AMC Pacer was a fright. However, I'd say people who drove them must have had a quirky kind of moxie. They looked like they could have been stable, and even quiet ... I believe they ran with a 232 in-line 6, without looking it up.

  8. It is a very weird feeling when you get off a plane and leave the airport in L.A., or Houston, for example ... or somewhere in Italy, and they both feel "normal." This definitely was NOT the case 10 to 20 years ago. My mornings these days are looking like this: the old and the "new." Here's a major town church and a public school (wide angle view) in Sicily.
