  1. Yes, since installing a home charger, we have only used public charging twice since last year for road trips to eastern Washington. Yes, you are right 20% less at others, but the point I was making is that the marketing fluff at the time was everyone would use it over all others pretty much and that is clearly not happening. Cool tech to see BYD chargers at this point. The U.S. needs to get its act together otherwise we will become a 3rd world country under the current idiots in DC. 2. How often are you not charging at home that you need to charge publicly? I'd think that thing has more than enough range to only need to charge at home. It's still a good thing though. That 20% aren't clogging your other charging stations and, I would think, it would keep everybody happier with more chargers available.

  3. You can't really patent a voltage. Picking a voltage to operate at is just that, a choice. They could operate at 900V if they wanted to, they just need to have the right electronics. The industry standardizing on 800V though makes it easier for the lagging companies to catch up because it means a lot more components are ready-made on the shelf.

  4. * I was cleared to drive ~1.5 weeks after the pacemaker-leads swap, but I did not even FEEL like driving until a MONTH later. I finally drove 02.24.2025 via a short late night drive in my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. My 1981 MC SC is at a friend's home in SE IL, but I may be able to get it to NE IL (where I am) sometime this spring-summer. This past Saturday (Beware The Ides Of March) was my original best friend's birthdate (he died 12.27.1987) & 2 major death anniversaries, my closest-ever friend in 2022 & a heart buddy in 2024. In what I believe was the 1st 60+ degree day of the year here, I went for a walk around a couple blocks 03.10.2025, noticing how much has changed & stayed the same in just the last year. I found myself thinking of those 3 characters in my life, as well as so many others. Thought of them again when I reversed that path in 76-degree weather 03.14.2025. Difficult to believe I am still here while they are not. Finally, while I continue looking for a new radio home, I am also considering a podcast, with a friend offering to help with start-up costs. Meantime, you can STILL see-hear me here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QmpWWB0d-k PEACE | Cort, pig and cow valves with pacemaker 2003 MGM LS + 1981 cmc SC; need 1975 Chrysler Cordoba "You have to try again" | Janie Fricke | 'You Don't Know Love'

  5. Ohhhhh ... definitely agree about the craziness of it all. Just not sure we'd agree on how we got to where we are. In my opinion, letting the "little things" slide has landed us here. 6. Agreed. When Tesla was the only game in town outside of compliance cars like the Leaf or Bolt, it pretty easy for them, but now pretty much everyone except Toyota/Subaru/Mazda have a pretty competent EV in their line up (and a Stellantis, but they don't really do anything well). Second problem is Tesla's line up is small and they are slow to refresh it. The Model X and S have had one minor refresh in like 8 years, and the new 3 and the 2026 Y are really just front /rear fascia refreshes on the same car that is 8 years old. Now you have the Chinese undercutting Tesla by a ton on price with cars that are equal on tech and range (or even better), an d the luxury brands have EVs with luxury interiors, Tesla doesn't have a luxury car interior,

  7. Priced like a luxury car with the interior of a nice Honda or Toyota. Besides Elon scaring away buyers, I think as all the other guys start putting out EVs in more segments and in lower prices, Tesla is in for some competition. The new CLA is way nicer than a Model 3, and has better range and faster charging. And that's the cheap Mercedes that people want to say isn't even luxury. The Equinox EV basically gives you what the Model Y does except maybe you lose some 0-60 time.

  8. Seems like for North America, everyone except Lucid and Stellantis have joined the NACS pac! List: Every Automaker Adopting Tesla's NACS EV Charging Tech (businessinsider.com)
