Are you absolutely SURE about that? That dog might wait an extra day or two, unlike a cat (I own two btw so be careful with how you respond here) but make no mistake. A dog will have some finger food (literally) if they are starving. It is what happened with Gene Hackman and his wife and that was a small dog doing that. Educate yourself before thinking this is only a cat thing. Both cats and dogs are animals and all that "dogs are more loyal" BS doesn't fly come starvation time. That is a fact.

I have cats, and don't plan on adopting additional animals when these are gone. Like you, I want my freedom and tranquility, also solitude.

Today marks the two-year anniversary that I do not have a motor vehicle to my name. There's less to hassle with. But the periodic renting is also annoying. When I see a nicely kept same model year LaCrosse going by, there might be a slight wince. I think it went to a good owner, as far as I could see, and hope that they get good use out of it. Actually, you can make an adventure out of riding transit. For example, I love that cheap 7-day MTA card that works across all five boroughs of NYC. Discovering large metro areas using public transit passes can be fun, as long as it does not lean too much on the "thrillseeker" side.
