    McCain's trend

http://images.dailykos.com/images/user/363...Wins_Debate.JPG Whoops...guess this ad got released early...
  2. Thing is, with WaMu, it works out to my advantage. In Indianapolis, none of the big California banks have any presence. Bank America? Nope. Wells Fargo? Not really--they might have just opened a single branch or something, but no ATMs or anything.
  3. Either that, a SAAB 9-3 or a VUE. Those are the only ones that fit the GME'd tag IMO.

    McCain's trend

I'm just curious...what part of McCain's campaign has actually been suspended? I still see the TV ads, the surrogates on cable news, and a lot of press releases. The only thing that seems to be "suspended" is the whole debate tomorrow at Ole Miss. Frankly, I'd much rather see a debate than a bunch of campaign ads with cherry-picked quotes devoid of context--and I say this regarding both candidates. I really am not fond of Obama's ads as they try to tackle several things very superficially, with 1-3 word quotes from Washpost, or NYT that all have the format of "...WORDS..." That tells me nothing, and I'd love to see what precedes and follows the selected words to take everything into context. That said, I've read several articles from those sources critical of McCain and his positions (or lack thereof in several instances), and I haven't seen many of Obama's ads eviscerated for being completely false, like I have seen in critiques for some of McCain's ads. I guess I just wish the ads provided more context and information so I didn't quite feel like I'm just getting soundbytes. Oh, and McCain's refusal to debate? Seriously, I don't know what he's thinking, but that NEVER goes over well with the American people.
  5. False. Many of the earliest inhabitants were Protestant, but the Founders themselves were mostly secular, hence the Separation Clause.

    McCain's trend

Uhhh I remember seeing something on the news about this where they interviewed George...and it was very clear that George was like "cool, I guess...but I'm in Africa and am living my life." They met late in life, and both have their own lives at this point. So George has a shack...maybe he also has some pride and self-respect, too. How would that look in Africa if he starts getting checks from the US politician? I think George values hard work and an honest, if simple, living...at least that was my take on it when I saw the segment. Criticizing Obama over that is really stretching it IMO...especially when one can easily point to McCain and his divorce. I'm much more comfortable criticizing someone for what they did over what they didn't do. Criticizing someone for NOT doing something really seems like you'd need to get inside their head and know their thought processes, or facts that just aren't public. Whereas an action is something demonstrable and obvious. My $0.02
  7. They may have sold a lot of product, but from the complaint web sites that I have seen, they have also turned a lot of people off of GM due to terrible customer service. I mean I'd expect to see one, maybe two pissed customer websites for every dealership franchise, but I found many, many different people complaining about them on the internet. Most people would just be pissed and never buy again, not go and create websites and try to pursue vindictive cases against the dealership.
  8. Nah, Bill Heard dealerships have a reputation of being crooked, just a quick browse of the internets finds lots of complaints about them. Considering GM's dealership glut, this is a very good thing for one of the bad apples to leave the business.
  9. You're comparing Obama to Charles Manson? You just lost a LOT of credibility there, buddy. Manson was at least an adult back in '69, not FOUR.
  10. Correct, the 3.5 runs just fine on regular. If you're going to go for the standard 3.8, then you're going to get the same fuel economy as the 3.5, but with less power. With the 3.5, you might as well have an 8 when you're driving, but at starts (like from traffic lights) you don't get all the crazy torque steer and tire squealing. You still CAN squeal the tires, though, if you'd like. I highly recommend the 3.5, in either the Aurora or the Intrigue. Let me know if/when you start looking at Aurora 3.5s, and I'll tell you some of the things you should look for, and some common quirks with the cars.
  11. Maybe. I bought my Aurora a little over a year ago with similar mileage as you've indicated, and it worked out to 7.5k plus tax. There was a good bit of haggling involved though, and I nearly walked out of the deal at the last minute (that got me an extra $500 off and a brake replacement). Shouldn't be too bad, though. I'll trot out something now, though: 2001 3.5 Aurora 19mpg City 28mpg Highway 1999 Bonneville 3.8 Supercharged 18mpg City 27mpg Highway I haven't owned a supercharged 3.8, so I don't have a basis for comparison, but the 3.5 delivers ~22 or ~23 combined, and I've gotten 30+ on the highway before. With gas prices and the economy where they are, every mpg counts! It also meets LEV emmissions. Plus, the 3.5 doesn't require premium, and it runs great no matter what I put in it (I try to stay with Chevron since they put Techron in all grades, but if none is around, I'll spring for premium).
  12. They'll have to screen it for AIDS! ...and other bodily-fluid-born nasties.
  13. LOLZ
  14. Hungh! I wanna vomit...
  15. Can we get back on topic? (That's an open-faced mooseburger)
  16. +1
  17. Interesting you say that...the only issue I have had that wasn't already an issue when I bought the car was the PCS needed replacement.
  18. He knows a hell of a lot more than aatbloke did, and he has been a reliable and knowledgable poster since the beginning.
  19. Honestly, check out fuel economy above all else. As a grad student, and having many undergrad friends, all you need are 5 seats, and maybe some configurable space to haul things (fold down rear seats). I know you like your Bonnevilles, but have you considered the 2nd-gen Oldsmobile Aurora? VERY similar to the last Bonneville, but with much better engines and interiors. I will ALWAYS put in a good word for my 2nd-gen Aurora, as it gets pretty good fuel economy, and the 3.5 has a lot of power. The cars are a little quirky, though, so if you want to go that route I can PM you all the things to look into. I love my car, all my friends love riding in my car, and the trunk holds a lot. No fold-down rear seats, though, but the seats are comfortable as hell. I average 20/21mpg in mixed driving, keep in mind I'm in LA, so mileage could be a little higher elsewhere. I've also gotten 30+ on the highway before. Same motor can be found in the uplevel Intrigues, from 1999 onward, I believe. Those are good cars, and look classy still even with a design that's 10 years old. The 2002s were the best-equipped, and free from all initial quality bugs. Overall, though, I'd say the Aurora is the better car. Nice interior materials and design, and there are a lot of thoughtful little touches that make you go "wow...I can't believe they thought of that!" Auroras also have Magnasteer, so like all Magnasteer systems it can be programmed by a GM dealership to different power steering boost settings for like $50. I recommend the firmest setting. For the Aurora, though, get the 3.5 over the 4.0. Even though the V8 sounds like it has more power, you really just take a penalty in fuel economy and handling. The 3.5 has a better weight balance, and a gas tank that holds an extra gallon. The 4.0 (V8) is more front-heavy, and the 0-60 times are within a tenth of a second of each other.
  20. I also agree that that seems pretty strange. I can't imagine why, as idealogically he's a solid D candidate.
  21. Love it! With a unique shape, it might make it easier to detect, so I don't slow down to the speed limit when it's just a geezer in a Crown Vic!
  22. Oh, I certainly miss AH-HA and evok, but aatbloke isn't even in the same league. The first two actually knew things, and shared that knowledge with the site. I never saw aatbloke really contributing to the site other than to pick fights and nitpick other posters to death...and he really did not know as much as he thinks he knows, as thegriffon repeatedly pointed out.
  23. I don't miss him. Obnoxious pricks like him who condescend to everyone else, and cannot play nice never last long on these boards. Lord Stafford quickly comes to mind.
  24. I liked that one a lot, actually. Never crashed on me. Until XP, this little-used version of Windows was MS's most stable. Did you just start using it? I like it a lot better overall. I'm gonna second the Moto RAZR...may be a popular phone but it's a POS. Battery problems after 1 year on everyone I knew. Weird glitches with bootup, the screen, and sim card errors.
  25. Love it.
