  1. Stay far, far away from that engine. ETA: Like this?
  2. Target carries them.
  3. I have a Perfect Pushup, but I need to start using it. I've heard good things about it from my fraternity brothers. I have a Bowflex Ultimate XTLU from 2002, but I ordered online, not from the TV. Love the damn thing. Just used it again last night, in fact. A friend of mine has the Bullit food chopper and loves it...I'm looking into getting one myself.
  4. Bias? Ohhhhh wait...do they support Obama? Funny...
  5. I often see "after the jump." I don't really care what they call it.
  6. Agreed Agreed. I'm Centrist.
  7. Yes, the Olds-sanctioned conversion was not bought by very many people.

    McCain's trend

When there is a national interest, the federal government has an obligation to act...especially in matters of health, safety, and national security. Energy policy meets every single one of those criteria. By your logic, NASA should be funded by donations and private companies. Guess what, we never would have gotten to the moon, launched exploratory missions, or even satellites if the federal government didn't make it a priority...and so many NASA advances are used by us in our daily lives so much that we take them for granted. And I'm not referring to much more than Tang. The federal government must make energy a priority because it is a key piece of infrastructure. Even subsidizing companies to develop green technologies is an infrastructure investment because those advances will allow implementation on a national level. The companies need subsidies to stay afloat while the technology is new and expensive. Also, when you privatize things, they are (generally) the property of the private individual/organization who developed/created them. They can control distribution. Federally-funded investments allow public access. On the most basic level, the results of studies and analyses are public documents that would at the very least provide knowledge and information to inspire entrepreneurs and citizens to develop improvements to existing technologies. Everyone knows that universities and research institutions benefit from these as advances are often developed at that level. Everyone benefits from increased knowledge.

Agreed. McCain and Bush do have some differences. I don't believe John McCain is a bad person, though at this point I certainly question his judgment. Bush, I feel, is selfish and evil.

DING DING DING!! WE HAVE A WNNER!! My point was that it was ridiculous to attack political threads when you participate in them! If they bother you, don't go there, participate, and then cry foul!

Didn't you just post a little while back about a 20-some-odd year high school reunion? Whining "He started it!" stopped being acceptable a loooooooooooong time ago. I don't give a rat's ass who "started it." You participated in it, then got pissy when someone responded. And you did respond, with this post. Now why would you make a post like that unless you weren't happy "your candidate" was being mocked in a post? If political talk threads get you worked up, don't participate in them. And moreover, I personally resent it when threads get shut down by the "political talk" whiners, of which you are one of them. I'd very much like to socialize with my online friends here at C&G and discuss the events of the day...at least with the ones who are mature enough to discuss without being all upset when someone disagrees with them or intends to vote for the other guy. I mean really, how would you feel if threads on gay rights issues or hate crimes were stifled on here because some fundamentalist got "offended" and deemed it "too controversial" for the whole entire forum?

Really? Is that why Obama wants to help the US automakers financially to develop greener vehicles? That's what Japan did with Toyota... Re-read my entire post, as you missed the entire point. Blu dishes it out, but then cries that "political talk is bad" and runs to the mods when someone good-naturedly dishes it back. Either it's all in good fun, or it's not...and if it's not, then you shouldn't participate IMO.
  13. Looks good! Crisis averted?

You start with this grand gem, yet when someone counters in jest you go to: ...and then get in a snit with: ...Seriously blu, you can't have it both ways. If you can't participate in these threads without taking it in stride, then you probably shouldn't participate in them. Just because it's in The Lounge doesn't mean you HAVE to participate in every single topic, anyway.

Lieberan isn't "centrist," he's an Independent in name only. But a Democrat-cum-Independent who consistently votes with the Republicans would at least be consistent with the "Maverick" credentials, and he is at least qualified for the job--no one could credibly argue that. ETA: Well, when your entire inner circle is identical to Bush's, a Bush-style campaign is what you're going to get. Thankfully the Dems have stopped being such pussies for this election cycle and have actually gone on the offensive a couple times. Gotta love Biden.
  17. Sorry to hear...I'm very lucky--I'm a total caffeine addict (Rockstar, black coffee, espresso 24x7), I smoke half a pack a day, and while I try to eat somewhat healthily, in all honesty I eat way too much fried and fatty food. Somehow though, my blood pressure is on the low end of normal. No clue how that works. Dunno my cholesterol, but that's some knowledge I'd honestly prefer not knowing in all likelihood.

    Do they...

Agreed. They should just listen to me.
  19. Yellowjacket--what about the positioning of the brands? The models sound good, but how are the brands going to be unique? For example, how will an Opel be different than a Chevrolet or SAAB?

Why on earth were you watching O'Reilly?
  21. As I've detailed in other threads, I'd generally "pair up" divisions as either FWD or RWD and have those divisions share development costs for shared/common platforms. 1. Cadillac and Pontiac would be RWD only. Same platforms. Pontiacs and Cadillacs could NEVER overlap due to inherent market positioning, and Pontiac would be the volume outlet for the Cadillac platforms. 2. Saturn, Buick and SAAB would be FWD only. Buick would be the AUDI to SAAB's VW. Saturn would do what Saturn has always done best: sell small, fuel-efficient cars. This premium repositioning just isn't working. 3. Chevrolet would be mostly FWD, with the occasional limited edition RWD heritage model. Corvette would be the only RWD constant. 4. GMC would share platforms with Chevrolet Trucks, but include higher trim levels, greater luxury, and better off-road capabilities. Think Range Rover. Those are the basic ideas, I really don't feel like repeating myself to go into the specifics. As far as dealership sales channels go, Chevrolet, Cadillac/Buick/GMC, SAAB/Pontiac/Saturn
  22. "Hey DJ" by the Ting Tings as the primary ringtone and ringback "Barbie Girl" by Aqua for that one girl I mentioned previously
  23. Home-made matzoh ball soup, entirely from scratch. Nothing better than that.
