  1. The high concentration of Ethonal in E-85 eats away at the plastic and rubber fuel system parts of a normal gas engine. More than likely the whole fuel system will need to be replaced. Running it for a couple of months could have also seriously damaged the bottom end too from that pinging.
  2. Twas a great race...but there is no way Corvette Racing, Chevrolet, and both sets of drivers are going to lose this year. I'm really interested in seeing what happens next year and if the Astons can run more than 2 races. Also, does anyone know if Ford is ever going to enter the GT into this series. I know technicly the Aston or Saleen can represent Ford, but I feel the series would gain more fans if they use an actual American Branded car to represent Ford in the American LMS. The may be American, but they really don't acknoledge Ford for much.
  3. What I don't understand is GM has a 1.9CDTi in use in several other countries...it gets a combined mileage of approx. 45mpg. What does the Escape get combined...I think its like 33mpg.
  4. First, it sounds like there are a couple of people here that may be confused about the 3.5L in the Impala...Just so everyone is clear, It is not the same engine that is in the Malibu and G6. The LZE/LZ4 3.5L in the Impala utilizes the same VVT tech that the 3.9 uses. Also it has a larger bore and shorter stroke compaired to the LX9 in the Malibu/G6 etc. As for the 0-60 times people are questioning. Tq is what seriously effects this number and your only increasing that by 28ft/lbs and shifting that peak up by 800rpm. Where the 3.9L really comes alive is in the upper mid-range compaired to the 3.5L. Not to mention the slightly increased tq is going to mean more tq management during shifts. The 3.9L should make passing a lot easier compaired to the 3.5L. Not to mention the LTZ is a bit heavier than the base model, you would be complaining about how slow the 3.5L was in this and asking why GM didn't offer a more powerful V6 option.
  5. Where did you hear anything like that?
  6. Your, right, but not for the reason your thinking. I was interested in telling you how much I don't really care. Seriously, these people spend their lives trying to entertain the public. Don't you think they deserve a show of respect by just leaving them alone, instead of blowing up everyday events into major issues. People wonder why relationships in Hollywood don't last, honestly, I don't.
  7. *Shrugs* They're just people...
  8. It works w/ a manual, you just have to modify the trans to hydraulic and find a pilot bshing for the engine.
  9. Bellhousing bolt paterns are the same, the 3.4L Crate motor will work...and what do you mean by saying its already rough? If your 60* V6 is has a rough idle or shakes a lot you have some major issues w/ that motor. A 3.1L is a 2.8L w/ 8mm more stroke, now add 3mm to the bore and you have a 3.4L...they are all the same basic engines. 60 Degree V6 Specs and performance There is also a Supercharge kit that runs ~$1700... Carbed Supercharger Kit
  10. Ugh...I just don't see the apeal in Tq Thrusts or the ever popular Eagle 077's. Chrome wheels, IMO on most cars, distract the eyes away from the car as a whole. Not to mention Chrome looks cheap, if you want a shiny wheel go polished. Some of my favorites... Momo Sport... Coddington F07 Coddington F16 (I am going to get a set of these for my 67) Coddington F22 Fiske Profile 5 Fiske Profile 10 Truck wheels... AR Mojave M/T Classic II's Factory wheels include... W-Body Cutlass Supreme 16" Aluminum 5-stars Black w/ polished lip 17" ZR1's C6 ZO6 Wheels in black w/ polished lip Quad 442 5-stars
  11. I never undersatnd why people don't think that maybe I don't hold the F-Body to the same level as the rest of the fanboys. It was cheap transportation, a car that was the right price at the right time and something I thought that may be fun to drive. The fact of the matter, it was unreliable...it had cooling issues in Tucson Traffic that I, or several GM techs, couldn't seem to figure out. It was fine on days that weren't too busy, but the moment I had to make more than 3 or so stops at lights it was nailing the red. I was also not too comfortable taking on long distances because the transmission was having issues. I was not yet ready to start throwing money at a car again, like I did with my Cutlass. Especially on a car I didn't really like. The S-10 was a matter of need...I needed something that was going to be reliable. I was told by my management that I was going to be a floating Tire salesman for the company. So I also needed something to be able to haul tires an parts if the need arised when I was moving around. Not to mention a truck has a lont more uses in the desert than a sports car on the weekend. Sadly...then again no its not sad...there is no chance the Convertible is being driven around. I tore out the engine and trans and sold them. Busted out all the windows, slashed the top and seats, and gave the car to a junk metal guy. Honestly, if I had it to do all over again I would have torn out the engine and trans and bought another Convertible.
  12. Your could, but really your only doing half the job.
  13. I believe the weight and tire size is what puts the WRX in that class...if you look at any of the race results you'd also notice that no one actually races a WRX. The european cars use a Turbo 2.0L which of course is a popular choice in the Saab Race cars, especially the 700hp Pikes Peak Saab....this also helped GM develop their Sport Compact Drag race motor.
  14. August Year to date 263 H1's have delivered...That squiggly line means an estimation, it could be up to 400 which is probably closer to true, but regardless I don't really care. SUV sales have been going down the past year, yet GM keeps throwing money at this "Niche"... Maybe you should do some looking around, because in the 4wd world the fact that the H2 is less capable than it should be is a huge problem w/ enthusiests...this is why I said the H3 is a step in the right direction, because unlike the H2, suspension, drivetrain and approach angles are much better suited for off road use...but people need to realize this is not a baby H2. I never said GM was copying anyone w/ the roadsters...your puting words in my mouth. The only reason I said people would think that the Antara would look like a Murano is becaus you have to admit the front end looks a bit similar. In all honesty don't you think if GM were to bring it over they would want to make it something special compaired to the competition. Also, IMO if your going to sell a sport roadster you should at least have a model for the enthusiests. I think the two cars will sell well as they are to women, yuppie men who spend their time trying to court women at Starbucks, and maybe a few bling bling wigger tuners who don't like imports...However, there will be very few people willing to buy one just to strip it down for what I or people like me would use it for...Hard Core Track Use. I never said there was anything wrong with GM moving in on this market...again your puting words in my mouth. LOL, Cheers and Gears isn't for me? I've been around for a long time, in fact I can't even remember when I originally joined, and I guarantee I'll be around for a lot longer. BTW...I don't have a problem w/ gas guzzlers, but if you should know my boat get 18mpg mixed driving...reall not bad for being 38 years old and only having 2 Gears.
  15. Caddy has successfully reinvented itself, if anything other premium auto brands are starting to copy them, the SRX still manages to have a look of its own. Hummer is a joke...H1 ~300 vehicals per year, not to mention the military may be dropping it like a bad habit. H2 may serve its purpose as a hwy queen, but its a joke in the offroad community, and isn't that what Hummers image is suppose to be. The H3 is a step in the right direction, a clear cut competitor against the Grand Cherokee...but it needs to shake off the stigma that the H2 carries, gain a bit more power under the hood, and drop the base price by at least 2k to truely compete. Although I love what the Solstice/Sky represents for the US, the only reason it is hear is because of the previous Opel/Vauxhall/Lotus cars and Lutz's desire to capitalize on a growing sport compact market. Lotus' decision to part ways w/ GM on the development of the new platform should tell you that the Solstice/Sky are severly dumbed down. The design has become classic portly american, and although I love the way the Sky looks and the fact that it may be offered w/ a turbo soon it still need to be offered in an optionless package that weighs under 2300lbs like the previous european designs.
  16. So does anyone have any info on when any company is going to offer either the CTS-V or the CTS-VR in a Plastic model?
  17. And I garuntee if brought over to the US under Saturn or something people will be saying, "WOW, I didn't know Nissan made the Murano in a coupe!" Seriously, GM was ahead of the game w/ the 04 and Profile but they flinched...now all they'll ever be is a copycat.
  18. My first was a $200 Rusty 86 Nissan Sentra my mom bought me when I was 15. I ended up totaling in the back woods of Northern Minnesota. My Second was a $1,900 91 4 banger Cavalier RS Sedan, that ended up being sold while I was in the military. Sorry no pics of either car, but your not missing much. The first car I bought myself was a 93 Cutlass Supreme Convertible, Vin X of course. White, White top and Maroon Interior. The car the First day I had it June 2000... Sometime in late 2002-early 2003... Mid-2003... Always kept her clean, shiney and in running order... The in Oct 2003... I then bought a 95 Z28... Which was traded in a year later for a 01 S-10 2wd 2.2L 5-Speed... The S-10 had to be given back to the bank, because I lost my job due to medical issues. What I still have, though, is a pretty little jem I picked up about a year ago. My 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Town Sedan. Powered by a 2bbl 330ci Jetfire and a 2 Speed Jetaway Trans.
  19. IMO, Borla's sound better, but Magnaflows may be a little cheaper. Both are going to do about the same performance wise, just make sure you get a high flow cat and mandrel piping to go along w/ it. Don't go too big in diameter...probably nothing more than 2.5". There's a lot of parts out there for these motors...although for as long as these motors have been around you thing the price of headers would have droped below $700 by now.

  21. Always hard finding info about foriegn race cars...Opel and Vaxhall have been racing w/ Ecotecs in the Astra's for a while now... http://www.opelteam.com/html/ http://www.tripleeight.co.uk/astra/
  22. I think you misunderstood me...If I'm not mistaken Opel has raced on this platform for at least a couple years already...Or something very similar. I would think saying it's a first year design is kinda off if that is true.
  23. Although it has a slightly wider tq curve the VVT 1.5L has nearly the same power output as the 1.3 DOHC the old GTi's use to have. The old Swift has a bit of a Cult following here in the U.S. among Autocrossers, if they do bring it here they need to boost the readline on the 1.5L to somewhere around 6500-7k and boost output buy 15-20hp.
  24. I've seen many of the races and it must really make some of these more premium brand angry that a lowly Chevy is keeping pace. However you can't just disregard the years of racing development the Europeans have put into this platform.
