  1. Unfortunately, Toyota is the best seller in a lot of segments. Once upon a time, it was Chevrolet. If only GM can get that sales leadership back with segment leading products. . . . .
  2. Vinyl is strictly a niche market now. Nothing like it was in the pre-CD era. As for wind-powered ships that haul freight, that sounds like a good idea with one concern. Sailing ships took 6-8 weeks to come from Europe to the US East Coast. It would have taken more than three months to sail from China to the US West Coast back when sailing ships were the norm. If you can get sailing ships to be as fast as diesel-powered ships, that could actually work out OK.
  3. Real effort on GM's part need to be in every market segment GM competes in. Ideally, GM would be the market leader in every segment it competes in. Basically, vehicles such as the Equinox and the Terrain and the Envision should be best in class. Trucks aside, CUVs are the biggest sellers and GM need to be best in class.
  4. And as long as farmers and contractors do that, GM does not care to compete in any market. That is truly SAD. Too bad all the decent business leaders look up to FaceBook and Google, rather than take on the challenge of fixing an old industrial stalwart and making GM actually great again.
  5. Stellantis is thriving? Uh, that firm still has not rationalized their entire lineup as of NOW. While I would LOVE to see GM essentially bring back the Chevy SS and have a Buick/Cadillac equivalent, sadly that is not happening. At the very least, a whole lot of turbo 4cyl vehicles can easily have those engines replaced by a GOOD v6 (think 3800 or 3900, NOT the interference 3.6 v6). GM has essentially dumped all of their small cars because NONE of them sold in any numbers worth sustaining. I do agree on dumping larger engines just for MPG. GM should dump the turbo 4cyl for a real v6 instead in most if not all models.
  6. I agree. Tesla and Rivian and all the EV automakers had better either build a 30K vehicle or get their lunch eaten by FORD and perhaps Toyota.
  7. Mary Barra is doing what shareholders want, not car enthusiasts. GM needs cars that will drive traffic into showrooms right now. Looks like Ford is at least two years ahead of GM at the moment.
  8. Falling sales have crushed both muscle cars AND convertibles. Seems like almost anyone who can either buy or lease new wants a crossover these days. Also, there is no guarantee that EVs will ever be in a convertible format. Sad, really ☹️.
  9. Start expensive then move it all the way down the line. Standard on just about every innovation (especially in cars) out there. SuperCruise is great though.
  10. Too bad really. I could easily replace my stock GM radio in my Buick Lucerne. Sometimes, I wonder if we are better off buying a base model which has far less stuff for the infotainment. Or is that now too hard on newer cars?
  11. This I can wholeheartedly get behind. Save fuel and equal to better performance. Now if only we can replace a lot of interstate trucking with more freight rail, especially at our ports. . . .
  12. Good. Now do the same thing to all the CUVs. While GM is at it, dump AFM too. It is not worth the hassle of saving 1 MPG!
  13. Falling cash flow is a bad sign. I do hope that GM fixes that. Other than that, good job.
  14. That Buick has four VentiPorts on the side, so NOT a Special. So a 1955 Buick Roadmaster. Got it. Thank you.
  15. I wonder who stole the tires off that early 1950s Buick . . . . Special? Roadmaster?
  16. True, but you know she will. Most likely she will actually profit from that book since the crimes were not violent.
  17. WHY do this? What is wrong with a vehicle that is essentially silent?
  18. If you told me that Honda would let GM build one of their cars (or trucks) 30 years ago, I would ask, WHY? NOW Honda wants a GM-built BEV?! Whoa, how times have changed.
  19. The rear may say Cadillac, but coupe SUVs are still an awful idea, practically and otherwise. Having said that, I can't wait to see the Lyriq in person. I like about 90% of the vehicle (not the rear quarters, but still). Also, is there a Buick version on the horizon.
  20. Maybe all those Snowbelt cities should use something else other than the current road salt to de-ice their roads and spend more on proper road maintenance.
  21. The Scion xB (the bB in Japan) is the closest thing that Toyota did to match this vehicle. They sold well for their time before Scion itself was canceled. The closest thing NOW would be a KIA Soul. Imagine that: a KIA Soul EV at about 70% off of retail selling extremely well in China (albeit a GM joint venture product). Too bad GM does NOT sell the Trax here at about $12,500 or so. That would really fly off the dealer lots.
  22. The prices look like 1965 while the men and the style look like 1975. When was this ad first published?
  23. That is rather sad. If you want REAL Lexus refinement, any LS will do over just about everything else Lexus makes.
  24. Lexus should have done what GM did for the last 15 years: have a dedicated three-row luxury crossover. Think about it: Lexus already has the NX and the UX crossovers. Why not have a real three-row crossover to complement the two-row RX? I have no idea why Lexus made the mistake of creating the RX350L when a separate model would do a lot better. If Cadillac can have an XT6 AND the Escalade, why can't Lexus?
