  1. The Mustang name to this EV could be a detriment to the Mustang name...but it could be a genius move. Only time will tell. The thing is, I think Ford is ready to expand the Mustang portfolio and kinda make it into some sort of brand. I do not mean that Ford will branch off Mustang into its own division, but expand the Mustang portfolio... The Mustang was always special in the Ford line-up. Immediately the year after its launch even. There were Mustangs, and then there were SHELBY Mustangs and today, Mustang is sold all over the world. A 4 door SUV EV Mustang? Why the hell not? Mustangs, from Ford or from the Shelby years are synonymous with performance. And this Mustang Mach-E has the performance to back up its Mustang branded name.... Im ready to call this a genius move.
  2. The Menlo and it seems like the Buick Velite 6 are more on par of what GM should be offering in North America. These are NOT Tesla competitors as Tesla is geared towards speed and performance. Performance enthusiasts love Teslas as do average folk too, and these offerings from GM looks to be more geared for the normal folk, which is a good thing. Nothing wrong with that. The Bolt is just too damned small for North American family hauling duties. The Model 3 is at the limit. The Model S is perfect. The Model X is duh...an SUV. The Bolt is a sub-compact econobox... When in history have sub-compact econoboxes sold well in the US and Canada? Let alone an EV sub-compact...
  3. Im a muscle car guy through and through (and in my definition, pony cars are certainly included) and I do like the Mustang throughout its history, although there are more than a couple of generations that I cant stand. From 1971-2004 to be exact, by I digress... I do like the looks of this "Mustang" Mach E. Its performance and range is on par with Tesla products. In the looks department, it surpasses the Tesla Model X by miles... It should do well in the market place as it mimics Tesla quite well. From range and performance to interior simplicity and iPad screens. And its a better looker to boot! If it does not sell well, its because 1. The EV people really do NOT trust the status quo automakers such as Ford, GM VW and the like, and are ONLY loyal to Tesla 2. The curious folk that are intrigued by EVs are NOT ready just yet, if ever, to commit to buying an EV. And if it does not sell, it will be a damned shame as it seems like Ford, as a late comer to the 100% pure BEV market, has done it right. And done it right the FIRST timea around. Nobody can accuse the Mach E as a compliance EV as some do the Bolt... The Porsche Taycan is a good try. But it aint a Tesla Killer. The Jaguar whatever its called, is an OK try...but it fails to be in the same vicinity as a Tesla product. The Bolt is a good try too, but its far from being a Tesla product equivalent. The Mach E as Ford's first BEV, is in the same territory!!! Quite the accomplishment!!!
  4. I see a Palissade Hyundai, and I dont think about Cadillac. I think about a certain 1960s tune. And that tune reminds me of clowns, and I, in turn think about how clowny the Hyundai Palissade is...
  5. @balthazar That was an attractive Grand Prix. As a 4 door and especially as a coupe. I loved the 1st generation W-Body as well. A tad less for the 4 door. More as a coupe on the 1st gen. I preferred the "Mercury Sable" front end than the base 4 door GP, but the Turbo GP coupe in 1989 is still a car I lust over to this day... I never thought anything about it. The Grand Prix being a 4 door. I guess I was too young to comprehend that Grand Prixs were always 2 door personal luxury coupes. Ive mentioned how much I loved the plastic body cladding of Pontiacs during this era, and the Rageous, with its outlandish lines and angles just made me love Pontiac all that much more. And then the Firebird/Trans Am get a refresh the following year based on the Rageous' outrageous looks.... and I was blown away by them (Pontiac's pony car) again!!! Made me even more of a fan of the Trans Am than ever before!!! I get where you are coming from. The design language of the Rageous is everywhere going nowhere. It can make one dizzy. LOL. What you dont like about it is what I LOVE about it though. One thing you cant argue, the name fits the car PERFECTLY. OUT-RAGEOUS it certainly is!!! Its also full of RAGE!!! I mean. What a PERFECT name for it, really!!! Id be a VERY PROUD owner and driver of the Rageous. Its too bad Pontiac never built one for me. *SIGH*
  6. Technically, the Rageous was just another step up of where Pontiac styling was from the late 1980s to 1997 when the concept came out. And that kind of styling marched on up until maybe 2002 when the Trans Am died and Pontiac ditched the side plastic cladding of the Grand Am, Aztek and Bonneville and debuted the G6, G8, GTO and Solstice. The late 1980s Dustbuster plastic body cladded minivan along with the FWD plastic body cladded Grand Prix GTPs and Grand Am GTs should have made you think that way. About 10 years prior.
  7. @regfootball Ive been wanting THAT car ever since it was shown as a concept waaaay back when. And I wasnt even a family guy then. But yeah, just looking at the car itself omitting the blaring outrageous styling cues on it and comparing it to how the modern sedan has evolved and you see quite evidently why and how the people moved away from family sedans to CUVs. The Rageous has large doors and they open very wide to let people get in and out of them easily, (and yes its a hatch, and it was a no-no for a car/sedan to have hatches then, but ironically not for CUVs and SUVs, I guess the negative stigma only works for cars as for CUVs, its the ruggedness image that prevails...) so the trunk space is easily accessible. And this is how midsized and fullsized cars of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s were... Its not even that low to the ground either. Its funny, but that is how I described what a sedan should be earlier in this thread...
  8. Yeah but...cramped interior. Especially for such a larger vehicle than the Fusion. The Fusion I believe, has about the same interior volume. Maybe just a minuscule amount less.
  9. What if...a potential customer does not want or need AWD even if they live in snow country. AWD should be an option, but it shouldnt be forced upon a client to buy it if the customer chooses to want the highest trim of that vehicle. Take like me for instance. I bought in 2012, an Acura TL SH-AWD. I did not buy it for the AWD. I bought it for the extra horsepower and torque available on the SH-AWD trim versus the lower trim. Although the AWD system is trick and awesome, I dont need it, or even want it 7 years later. Yes, the car seems nimbler when all those trick SH-AWD stuff kick in, but, its still unnecessary heft on my TL that I do NOT appreciate... And yes, now that Quebec has made winter tires mandatory since like...20 yeas now or something, I really do not need AWD to get me through Quebec winters. In other words, make all the goodies and highest horsepower ratings available with FWD or RWD only and AWD should be an option on top of that as the final option. Not as the highest possible trim includes AWD...
  10. I like the overall dash layout and the way it looks. (So, that would be my lowly contribution to this thread.)
  11. ^^^ My kinda posting!!!
  12. @riviera74 Helllllooooooo Baby! This is the Big Bopper speakin'. Im here to tell ya that you should um...get ready to dust off your Old Glory, because you promised me... Tesla is just about there...being an American Icon!!! And if Tesla succeeds in building a factory in Germany to build Teslas and zee Germans buy Teslas... There is no need for Tesla to outsell Toyota and GM. In other words, Tesla does not need to become the world's biggest car maker. Hell, Tesla does not need to become the word's largest car maker now, EV or otherwise. But you should be proud, that if Tesla gains ground in Germany by having SOME market share in Germany by having Germans build and buy Teslas over VW and Audi, BMW and Mercedes...boy...that be something, right? Tesla is rocking those Germans like a HURRICANE!!!
  13. For sedan sales to start augmenting and to get people out of their CUV/SUV fix, sedans have to become passenger, family, cargo hauling friendly again. If that means AWD, then yeah! It certainly means better accessible trunk space that is large enough for family needs and egress and ingress improvements over what we have now as sedans. Interior space shoudnt be taken for granted either. Rear leg room should be a priority along with head and shoulder room front and rear. As much as I like the sleek, fastback design, that kind of design favorises looks over practicality and usage. And...maybe sedans need to get a tad bigger also. The Edge is on the same platform as the Fusion, so the Edge is just as long as the Fusion, but the Edge is sooooo much larger that the Fusion. The Edge rides taller and has a taller profile, nothing says that the Fusion can't ride a tad taller while utilizing is space more efficiently while retaining its car qualities over the Edge as a CUV...
  14. I do not mind shellfish. Lobster and crab. But lobster and crab are not exactly my fave. Like I mentioned above, shrimp would be on top of the crustaceans list. I will NEVER do mollusks or clams and the like. gag like you said. I never tried swordfish, nor does it seem like I will ever give it a try.
  15. Cow would be my favorite food. Then pig, lamb and chicken. But seafood is not far behind. I like seafood. Not all. But most. Octopus, shrimp, Greek style fried shrimp, various types of fish. Nothing exotic. Salmon, rainbow trout. There are some types of fish that I do gag. But Ill eat seadfood generally speaking. Ill eat veggies too. All kinds of veggies. Lots of veggies. But I love my veggies with a complimentary side of fleshy meat... Its a personal choice, done for me by my ancestors...oh...for thousands of years.
  16. How quiet does society in 2020 and beyond want their transportation pods to be? I mean, even horseback riding, back when horses were our primary long distance traveling, there was road noise. And quite honestly, a horse and buggy as your transportation would be the original autonomous vehicle. and to boot, horse and buggy were MORE noisy than cars from 20-30 years ago. I mean, cars even from the 1990s were quiet enough. So, the excuse of wanting your autonomous transport pod to be quiet so you could read your newspaper, THERE IS NO MORE NEWSPAPERS... I mean, we want it to be super quiet to fiddle around with our dumb smartphones, we already tune out from the rest of the world when we are on them. Our brains just shut down NATURALLY from our usage of them anyway... We all want to be in our own little world? Separated from our surroundings THAT much? I just do NOT get all this USELESS technology and where we are going as a species....
  17. If you zoom the pic, you could kinda see that the back seats end near the C Pillar. Then you could safely assume that almost immediately after that, the trunk commences. And if you could visualize, that makes for a huge trunk. But then, you could almost assume, safely assume, that the trunk opening is low, and not very big. THAT is why from a design like that, that a hatch opening SHOULD have made it in the design. Where the glass ends, it seems like its tinted glass... Or it could be another material, plastic? like a floating roof style thing, to make it seem like the glass IS that big... And then from this angle, you clearly see that its a plastic covering of some sort that lines up with the opening of the trunk which confirms my assumption that the opening seems low and maybe not sufficient. Why do automakers INSISTENTLY do this MAKING it DIFFICULT for the users of these vehicles to USE the TRUNK of their sedans? THEY KNOW that custmoers CHOOSE CUVs for the EASE of entry in and out of the vehicle, BUT ALSO for the EASE of USAGE of the CARGO space which INCLUDES the HATCH of the CUV!!! MAKE a sleek, fastback SEDAN but WITH a hatch, and MAYBE sell MORE sedans? On my next car purchase, if sedans continue to be fastback, coupe styled, but the trunk opening is crap, I may switch over to a CUV/SUV myself... The Fusion is at the limit of what my wife and I could accept.
  18. Not even close. They are both fastback, coupe styled vehicles that have 4 doors. Both are grey in colour. The grilles are different. The Honda has a chrome bar that continues its course into the headlights. The KIA has a bumper-esque body coloured thing resembling a...bumper dividing the top half of the fascia from the bottom. The Honda has a conventional mouth/grille going on with no bumper/esque separation going on. The headlights are worlds apart from one another. Like I said, the Honda has that chrome bar designed into the headlights while sporting Acura's jeweled themed style while the KIA has just 2/3 lights. No chrome bar or chrome whatsoever in the front of the car... The side slabs of both vehicles are world's apart. The Honda is flat and the rake moves upward from the front to the back while the KIA looks to be more horizontally straight and has all kinds of creases while there are hip bulges on the rear wheels. The C Pillar is different. Two totally different direction stylings on the C Pillar. The mirrors are different. The Honda mirrors are attached to the body while the KIA's is not. Even the door handles are placed in very different locations of the doors because the doors are not even the same style and positioned in the same way. And if you look closer than what you wanted to do to justify your opinion, the KIA is a sleeker vehicle...it looks waaaaaaay newer than that Accord. That Accord pic you posted already looks dated... Now...other than having modern day computer engineered aerodynamic fastback silhouettes that makes ALL cars of the modern era to somewhat resemble each other, there are virtually NO similar design cues anywhere on both vehicles...
  19. It no way looks like any Honda ever made in history... It doesnt even have specific Japanese or Korean styling cues. It looks like a modern KIA product. And its quite a stunning car. In a good way. In a very good way. Unless of course one does not like fastback, coupe like sedans. I like that styling! A lot! I may not like, in fact hate, that it wont have a hatchback opening. In a fastback like that, its better for the consumer of said product to have access to a hatch...
  20. You're 12? Wow! You look so...old. Happy Birthday, Drew! We got snow. They said storm. So far its just a normal winter snowfall. But it is the first of the season so I gather lots of accidents...
  21. Not when only EV sales are concerned. Ill give you the over all vehicle sales argument in the market place. But even you got to admit, amongst all EV cars/models/brands out there, Tesla is the one that is king of the jungle.
  22. ^^^ I prefer the Queen of Disco's version better. So much so, I do not even want to quote the post. I do not like his whiny singing voice. But strangely enough, I like listening to his songs. Weird...
  23. A pick-up should have a usable bed. Maybe Jeep should have made it something like an Avalanche? Or does GM still have a trademark on that mechanism?
