Alfa Romeo Investment Being Scaled Back :Comments

Muria? You meam Miura? That was a Lamborghini. But why do I think you already knew that and you purposely fudged it up telling us how "meh" Maserati really is? I believe Maserati's Miura was a Ghibli in 1969. I like the Miura... The Ghibli? Let's talk about what other cars I like in 1969 instead. Yeah, the Giulia does look good. Sounds good great. Handles good great. The "F" part of FCA missed the boat in marketing this car. But then again, people are weary about Alfa Romeos and their notorious unreliability... The Stelvio...like Balthy said, its a pudgy thing. Not appealing to the eye one bit. Fun to drive you say? Maybe. Its a CUV. Which brings me to you mentioning your Equinox. The Equinox is an appliance thing. It ain't meant to be fun to drive... Not hard to surpass an Equinox in terms of smiles per mile driven as compared to other "funner" CUVs. Firstly, The Stelvio is front engine, rear wheel drive as compared to the Equinox being FWD. Not that FWD automatically means boring, but the Equinox is tuned on purpose to NOT offend anyone. Its purposely built to be boring. Secondly, That 2.9 liter V6 makes some nice sounds when accelerating. About having a market. That is the marketing department's job. But they need loads and loads of cash to convince people. Cadillac billions amounts of cash. PSA does NOT want to fork over that kind of money around on the 2 brands (Maserati or Alfa) knowing they got more successful models on more successful brands to take care of. -

I know I dont really care. I dont think there has ever been a Maserati that I liked. I like the sound that their 4.7 liter V8 makes, but I also heard that that engine is not that reliable.... kinda worthless. Alfa Romeo? They made some nice lookin' cars over the years, sure. But I dont consider myself a fan. Like with Maserati, I like the noises that their TTV6 makes in the Giulia, but I heard that that engine is not reliable either... so what's the point? -

Chryco was a goner a decade plus ago. Sure! The FCA just bought them time. And now this merger maybe buys them more time. FoMoCo should have NOT mortgaged their house the way they did. But they desperately needed money back then. Bail-out money would have made them re-structure their debt like GM did. Now they have a big problem. And botching important product launches really phoques them up, I agree. But GM is putting all their money on EVs. Many reasons NOT to do this: 1. EVs have shown NOT to be adopted by ANYBODY worldwide.... (Yes, I know...governments are forcing out the internal combustion engine...EVs are kinda the future) 2. GM putting all their eggs in the EV basket DOES make sense SINCE governments around the world are forcing peeps outta their gasoline cars....but...TESLA holds those cards. GM not only has some image problems concerning certain segments in the ICE world, but TESLA is a GIANT in the EV world. And MOST EV conscience peeps out there not only LOVE TESLA over any other EV wannabe, but it seems EV lovers HATE on GM the MOST because of the EV1 in the 1990s... Like I said, CHEVROLET is in a pickle...the Silverado is THE bread and butter....and it aint doing too well. Thank the Lord for the SUV versions of those trucks...(Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade and GMC in general) Ms Barra better make the right choices for Chevrolet in these coming months... -
Wrong answer! I wanted to hear: GREAT!

Throw away cars? Id say these are/were bread and butter cars...GM went through all their brand's versions of J Cars and the FWD A Platform and N Platform that spawned Grand Ams and Calais and Achievas and Aleros and Corsicas and Tempests and Skylarks and Somersets and still couldnt dent Corolla and Civic loyalty. W-Body? Gone! Epsilon successor. Gone! Pontiac and Oldsmobile? Gone! Malibu is gonna die too...rumors... The CamCords and the Sonata/Optima clean the Malibu's clock. The Fusion is going away and even if people are aware that the Fusion is going away, they are NOT buying Malibus... Camaro? No word yet on a replacement. Project for a successor model has been at best case scenario pushed back and/or postponed...worst case scenario is another death for Camaro as plans have not been made...yet. Just that no new Camaro is planned for anytime soon... Silverado sales are falling. Ram trucks have taken over their spot. I suspect its the ugliness of that truck's face. But Im afraid if they make the Silverado a looker again, I think the people will not be back. I think those sales lost to Ram, those people will stay with Ram. Sorry man. I fear for CHEVROLET at the moment. Corvette will do fine. For now. But when the novelty of mid-engine wears off, will the peeps be back for another 60 years as they were for the front engine, rear wheel drive version? -

Autoline Detroit today just said that the French might want to put Alfa Romeo and Maserati on the block if the merger is going to go through. These two brands are bleeding money and they deem them not to be worth the effort trying to promote them since their sales are dismal as well... just click on that link. I hope it starts when John McElroy is talking about it. https://youtu.be/NmUdAWdb6ew?t=177 -

Chevrolet loyal owners? The Impala once sold 1 million copies per year... The Impala has died 3 deaths... From Citation II to Celebrity to Lumina to Impala. From Chevette to Cavalier to Cobalt to Cruze...and Cruze is dead? I think?...all because the Japanese (and now....Koreans) keep all the loyal Chevrolet owners to themselves... The Chevrolet fullsized pick-up truck is now in 3rd place in sales behind the big bad Dodge! A lifetime, the Dodge was in 3rd place. -
I think just fine! You still didnt answer me how have YOU been... Ive missed you...NOT!!! ?

3 people on my street all just acquired Tesla's Model 3. Am I going to see firetrucks in my neighborhood anytime soon? But then again, I own a Ford...Fusion...with the 1.6 liter ecoboost... From the UK...just last year...after I googled 1.6 liter ecoboost fires. 1st thing that popped up... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-46180703 Yeah... Tesla is in the shytes. Could be true. But what is FoMoCo's excuses. This is a century old car maker... Not to pass the buck...but Tesla just suffers from the same shyte that all car makers suffer from. NO EXCEPTION! If we wanna just point the finger at Tesla because they evil, well, that is quite hypocritical of us, doncha think?

Actually, humans know also. This time changing thing phoques with our biological clock. I cant stand this daylight savings time change twice a year. We are currently on standard time right now, right? Let's keep it there!!!

GREAT! YOU?

Diesel pollutes the air. Like...a lot. It seems no matter how many articles Id post, a denier, a naysayer or just a person with un-phoquinging-beliavable bias would not believe and just ignore. But its OK. Thank the little Lord Jesus "unjust laws" exist to wipe diesels from civilian use from the face of God's Green Earth to really force change... (awaiting a down vote)

Chrysler News: Fiat Chrysler Posts Record Earning for Q3 2019

This type of technology? The Hellcat already uses this tech. On a V8. With a Gi-normous supercharger. The Hellephant 426 Hemi crate engine makes 1000 plus horsepower. Reliable horsepower. But that is NOT the point. Horsepower is NOT what makes a Hellcat a Hellcat. Its not cylinder count either. What???!!! Its BOTH combined. Plus... The whole muscle car image of adolescent names and logos and visceral acceleration and V8 sounds. The total package. Remember, we are talking about HELLCAT as a name. There is nothing wrong about retiring the Hellcat name and leaving it to history and remembering it as a legend. An AWD TTV6 should be something else on a Challenger. Even if an AWD TTV6 Challenger (smaller and lighter and newer platformed car) could be quicker and faster than a Hellcat, I think it should be something else to carry the MOPAR lore. Remember, there was no other Hellcat (at least I dont think) in MOPAR history before this one. There was several Demons and Super Bees, but no Hellcats. There is no need to carry that name going forward. MOPAR could just as easily create another legend with another awesome name and Id be fine with it. That is all Im sayin' -
Chrysler News: FCA and PSA are in Merger Talks
oldshurst442 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chrysler
The French made the Italians scrap the mid-engined Alfa Romeo 8C in order for this merger to happen is how I understand this whole thing. Knowing that the French always loved the Dodge Viper, here is hoping that the Americans and the French will come to together again like with the |Revolutionary wars and give us a mid-engined Dodge Viper instead! -

I dont really have an opinion on a PSA/FCA merger (other than almost nobody in North America gives a shyte for French cars...therefore a return for any French brand in North America is gonna be a flop) (EDIT: I take that back...PSA has some nice, stylish CUVs that maybe they could seduce North Americans with...) And I do not really oppose a TTV6 AWD Challenger and Charger nor 4 cylinder turbos in those cars, but I do draw the line in calling a TTV6 a Hellcat. I mean... 707 - 717 - 797 (Demon not included) horsepower figures on supercharged V8s with just about as much torque is the reason why a malevolent feline (with a red eye on one model) was given as its name. TTV6s could be baaaad, I aint disputing that. Lookin' at you Buick with the GNX and that is with only 1 turbo, but as baaaad as that GNX was in relation to its era, a Hellcat and a Demon is just...downright....HELLISH. Lord Vader is a pu$$ie with his Buick as compared to the Prince of Darkness and his choice of Mopars. Therefore, I am down with AWD and twin turbo 6 cylinders for a next gen Challenger and Charger. I aint down with that power train be called Hellcat, because it simply...aint... Id settle for...Wraith. The Challenger SRT Wraith. I dig that. With a nod to the car below. -
USB key or Acura radio memory equals music for the traveling or the trusting AM dial listening to sports talk radio equals decent commute for me. I wish T-Tops was still an option for cars. *SIGH*

Alfa Romeo Investment Being Scaled Back :Comments

I honestly think it could be a great thing. Depending on a couple of things though. If the Giorgio platform could be scaled up to Dodge Charger/Challenger midsize(fullsize?) levels because as is, its a compact. At best, its a tweener compact but not as big as a midsize and that is no bueno for Challenger and Charger (and 300) The Maserati Quattroporte and GrandTurismo could easily be platform mates with Dodge Challenger/Charger and Chrysler 300 and the key to that is if the Giorgio platform could be scaled up in size. The Giorgio platform has got some pretty nice performance oriented bones. I imagine Auburn Hills engineers doing wonders for a Challenger with this platform. As of now, like now now...this engineers are up to the task to making the Challenger a track oriented car to compete with the Mustang GT350 and Camaro 1LE. Challenger ACR is the next Challenger to be unveiled and that is with the porky platform its currently on. 2 things Im cringing at is: 1. sedans are not exactly the "in" transportation 2. I do not know if Giorgio is robust enough for Challenger/Charger duties. I mean, people that own the V8 versions of those cars, beat the crap outta them. I mean...American Muscle and all...its what you do with American Muscle, yo. -
Ill tackle it again on a different angle... Since the Empire's army (and the First Order for that matter)is quasi-based on Nazi German soldiers and the like...and ummm...the mustachioed dude rode in a Mercedes and along the lines of Vader shuttling himself in a shuttle from place to place... I present to you...Vader's shuttle bus:
-
If memory serves me correct, I think a car mag along the lines of Car and Driver or Motor Trend ran an article saying exactly that about a certain sinister G-Body from Buick. The best I could do is this pic, but I swear I remember the GNX being called Vader's ride before the Impala. I could be wrong though and selective memory is kicking in. I remember that Impala commercial too though...

And not once did I say you dont pay for it. Alls I said is that new car depreciation does NOT affect me as I AMORTIZE a new car purchases PROPERLY... Everything depreciates...even properties...(this is where @dwightlooi told me his story about some people he knows that have bought big homes because properties usualy appreciate in value but they cant afford said huge home so they sleep on matresses on the floor and eat wet from water noodles...) All this rambling because I CHOOSE to buy NEW cars... Its OK to refuse to buy new...and only to buy used. Its an economic stupidity for NOT taking advantage of this era of used market... Yet Balthy, you dont seem like the type to try to one-up your neighbour by buying a used Bimmer showing him up and other shallow souls... @Robert Hall also doesnt seem like the shallow type to do this. I dont know @dwightlooi, but his story of his acquaintances about sleeping on the floor on matresses and eating noodles JUST to be in a big house for appreciation purposes actually sounds shallow to me... And THAT does not impress me... And yes...in Quebec...or Michigan for that matter, Buyer beware when it comes to buying used luxury vehicles... Its the rust that'll get ya! Short lifespans for cars. We could talk about depreciation all we want ...but regular maintenance on high diva Bimmers on such mundane shyte like ABS brake sensors or what not take a toll on the wallet, and these things tend to breakdown more easily in bad weather areas more often than say...California... Chevy Malibus have those same ABS brake sensors like those fancy shmancy Bimmers... Except, a new, or used Malibu costs you mainstream Chevy prices to fix 'er back up. Bimmers...even 2 Series Bimmers, costs you diva prices... On a car that will NOT last you a lifetime...unlike if you were living in...CALIFORNIA!!! I got all night... Why dont you do like I do...right a paragragh or two... I wont complain...unlike what you do about my posts... That makes 2 people in here that have complained about my tooo long of posts... Is there a secret word count Im not aware of... Its OK... I wont be posting in here much longer. Normally I dont advertise that... I dont need the sympathy...or the "Good, dont let the door kick you in the ass when you leave" speeches either. Have a nice life guys... -
