  1. This guy deals with the body! He likes his steel bodies much better than the aluminum ones! Yeah. I did not forget about that. Its just that I automatically thought because he was a body man, he was also a full blown, all out mechanic. Instead...he just bangs on them steel drums like a chimpanzee.... Blu... video kill the radio star the electric car will kill the dinosaur car. Better get used to driving down Electric Avenue Being THUNDERSTRUCK by AC and DC because where there is thunder, there is lightning! I understand you though. I see you going down in a Blaze of Glory... because...the steel horse that you ride, is wanted dead or alive. Times...they are a changin' buddy the winds of change are upon us!
  2. I thought you was one. Sorry for the misunderstanding on that part of the equation...never the less, the rest of my post remains as is as you not being a mechanic bears no relevance to government subsidies of the American Automotive Landscape and fluid free electric vehicles...with much much much torque at one's disposal....instantaneous at that.
  3. Same place where GM and Chrysler...twice for Chrysler...got theirs to prevent them from folding. Same place where Ford got theirs for R&D in producing environmental friendly technology and engineering. That Fusion electric Hybrid supposedly benefited from that... Same place where BMW and VW/Porsche got theirs to build factories in the USA to employ young Americans to produce gas guzzling SUVs....the opposite spectrum of green technology that Ford and Tesla represent... BLU, you should be happy that an American automotive company is a threat to the Germans finally. A legit threat. When was the last time that a German automotive company scrambled to produce a competitor to anything American? In the last 20 years or so, 'tis the Americans that are chasing that German mojo...but with the Model S, Mercedes, BMW and especially Porsche's lederhosen is soiled with piss as they dont have anything that rivals it... I dont get your hatred? As far as the electric motor goes...dude, all that instantaneous torque should have you salivating.... Forget about gasoline, the thought of the only liquid and fluid you have to worry about is windshield washer fluid should have you giddy as a school girl... Oh..I get it now... You a mechanic....you rely on those oil changes and prestone filled radiators...it keeps the food on your table...if you was smart though, you would try to learn about rotors and stators because quite honestly, that is where the future is... electric motors...they are everywhere today anyway...only to explode by conquering the automobile industry
  4. A very real anecdote that represents my view quite accurately. Im sure he is glad to not have gone for the 535...a 3 cylinder powering a big car like that might have him questioning the slogan Ultimate Driving Machine. And I take it in Europe, in 1994, the 525 was a 2 cylinder two stroke. Or is that a 5 stroke because of the 5 at the end of the 525?
  5. Today's marketing BS. Today's view that the brand is the focus more than the model. Eldorado is less than Cadillac. Cadillac is the key... 1950s. - What do you drive? >Eldorado. - WOW! Just like Elvis! ( And everybody knew that not only an Eldorado was a Caddy, but they knew what was under the hood!) Today - What do you drive? > A Bimmer. Dont know what kind, but its a BMW. - I hear ya. Does it have the V6? >Na, its the V4...good on gas.
  6. Oh boy... My soul era for automobiles... I dont think I have a soul "era"...sure I had fun in my late teenaged/early adult life years full of partys and girls and partys and girls and school and partys and girls and cars and school and more partys and girls/...but... What I do have are a collection of cars from different eras that define a soul...but your game, your rules...so Ill just post the one car that best defines my soul in cars. I LOVE Americana. I LOVE Rock-N-Roll. I LOVE Muscle Cars. I Love fun and games. I LOVE back seats and bench seats makin' out. (Yup...I did that in a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity...bench seat in the front) I LOVE milkshakes and hamburgers. I LOVE speed and riding low and slow. I LOVE cruisin' I LOVE Driving!!! Candy Apple Red 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hot Rod. Preferably with flames painted on the body. Convertible or Hard Top. With a Blower sticking out of the hood or not...
  7. That is funny. Like I said though. 1973 was a pinnacle year. 1974 on the other hand...it sucks to be him. Sorry riviera74. Not all is bad though in 1974. My dad had a candy apple red with white vinyl top 1974 Impala 2 door coupe This one is the "Spirit of America" model Id gladly own this...brings me back to my early childhood it does!
  8. Or....one could say that they are just too damn scary fast today.
  9. It depends. Classic Muscle Cars and its all 440 Six Packs, SD 455s and 455 Rocket V8s for me! With a hint of Chevy 427s and 396s and Poncho 400s. And let us not forget about 426 Hemis and 427 and 428 Fords. ETC... In the modern times. I prefer at the very least a natural aspirated V6 for daily driving. So that would make me a cylinder count snob. If gas prices were not as high in Quebec...Id prefer a V8. But...I would NEVER say no to a superchraged Buick V6 or a TTV6 from Ford or Cadillac. So...technically, a V8 need not apply with a TTV6...so...replacement by forced induction displacement on a V6 instead of a V8 is passable. On a Camaro...I would want a V8...but an ATS-V TTV6 is OK in my books too...But in a CTS...a V-Sport TTV6 will NEVER replace the "V" Series' V8... On a 4 cylinder...well the Fusion that my wife has is the 1.6 ecoboost. It feels like a GM value V6 3.1/3.4 SFI engine....Although a nice engine that 1.6 ecoboost is...Id rather Ford's old Duratec V6 from the previous generation Fusion at the very least or the 3.7LV6 that is in the Lincoln MKZ, or even GM's 3.1/3.4 under the hood... Even better would be the rumored 2.7 TTV6 Fusion ST....So in this instance...there is no replacement for displacement AND cylinder snob.
  10. 1973. Im maybe the last of the greats of the good 'ol days. The last of the real muscle cars that is for sure if not for American Iron in general. I will easily take a 1973 Pontiac Trans Am SD 455 And a 1973 Oldsmobile H/O 455 Cutlass 442 Or even a 1973 Cadillac Convertible. A 500 cubic inch Eldorado...Indy Pace Car at that. If I had to choose 1 of these 3....it would be the Trans Am as a Trans Am is really the first automobile that I fell in love with...It was a 1975 or a 1976 model. So I was a Trans Am guy before Burt showed us his Ban-One Black and Gold Poncho.
  11. RIP, Canada is truly Screwed! What stupidity causes people to allow a class system to come back into existence. Nice car though! EL K will get this joke.
  12. One thing that I did NOT realize before tonight, because I wasnt really paying to this is that 3 out of the 4 Prime Minister candidates had Montreal as their headquarters.... Pretty cool. Well I think that was cool anyway.
  13. Canada is officially Liberal. Daddy and now Son... Monsieur Trudeau is our next Prime Minister. Daddy. When he was Prime Minister. And now son...with daddy's M-B. Inherited. YUP...it was his ride with his lovely bride when he got married.
  14. Happens to me all the time. Ive gotten many speeding tickets this way in which I just mash the peddle to get away from them as Im soooo bloody disgusted and mad and I dont want to be road ragin' because If I keep seeing them whether in front of me, beside me or in my rear view mirror, Id be ragin' and low and behold, a speed trap further down the highway...and if they would just be in the correct bloody lane to begin with...Id also be in the correct lane, yes left lane for me and right lane for them, Id be going the bloody speed limit to begin with therefore NO SPEEDING TICKET!!!! IM GLAD THAT IN CERTAIN STATES and in ONTARIO, they actually give tickets to people that are in the left lane but NOT going the maximum speed limit or passing anybody...but not in Quebec though....Quebec likes to be backwards! Washington state just passed a law that says you cannot be in the left lane if you are going more than 10mph below the posted speed limit. I am hoping this gets many scared drivers out of the left lane where they do not belong. That is great. There is a probem in Quebec though. We have a minimum and a maximum. 60 KM/H minimum and 100 KM/H maximum. Therefore technically, rolling 60 KM/H in the left lane is permitted. Some politicians want to do away with that minimum and maximum stuff though. And they are trying to make some sort of logical speed to be in the left lane....they are calling it the passing lane...but no speed requirement is acknowledged, only that you must pass vehicles on the left. And where the speed limit maximum is 70 KM/H, the roads are usually small and tight so going more than that you are really endangering yourself.

  16. Like I said...GREEDY CEOs!!! If true these allegations are of course. But it wouldnt surprise me one bit if true...
  17. Amen to that DFELT...to both your points about dummies that use their electronic device while driving...yeah...those a-holes are the reason for this mania over self driving cars... I too, hate most safety features in most cars...the absolute most I want in my car is airbags, seatbelts, ABS brakes and traction control for certain situations. Not all...And that is it....No...No back-up cameras, no beep beep beeps, no lane departure warning systems, no nothing. No smart cruise control, no radar/camera interventions of any kind.... If humans were more conscience in their driving, most of these features would not even be needed...
  18. I too agree with Hyper with self-driving automobiles as the Anti-Christ. Ill go further still and borrow hatred for anything remotely robotic in such movies as Terminator and iRobot. Im not however down with vintage iron being my sole choice though... No...not because I dont like vintage iron...au contraire...I LOVE vintage iron....its just that the cold cold winters of Quebec....my home...creates havoc for the metal through an insane amount of corrosion in a relatively short amount of time... You know...the stupid salt that we use to melt that stupid snow. And the thawing and freezing that goes on...is not that much better for the cars themselves... On the upside...when one is 70 years old, in Quebec, they make you take a practical driving test again, to see if your fit to drive...then and only then will the apocalypse be fine with me, if and when the Quebec government deems me too old to drive...but then again, I might be living in Greece by that time...spending all my time on a beach...who needs gas, or electricity or hydrogen? A couple of watermelons to feed the horse and she takes you back home...come to think of it...THAT would be the ORIGINAL self-driving automobile...and I presume much much safer...horses dont make a habit of getting hacked or crashing into one another...and I dont seem to recall horses rebelling against us humans ever in history...
  19. And a perfect way to stop consumer fraud...and to maybe humble some future greedy CEOs... If VW had to play advertisements apologizing to the world for lying, Id make the CEOs that actually made this scandal happen the ones to deliver the message.
  20. Yup. I cried. For him. But not at that moment. When I went home later that day and took my yearbook out to look at his graduating pic. And sooooo many questions and no answers to this day. In fact. A little tear is coming out of my eyes as I type this.
  21. http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2015/10/16/ftc-reviewing-vws-clean-diesel-ads-for-fraudulent-claims The Federal Trade Commission is now reviewing whether that 30-second spot and others like it touting Volkswagen's "Clean Diesel" engines amount to fraud, adding a new avenue for U.S. regulators to punish the German automaker for its emissions-rigging deception. While the FTC can't send anyone to jail, it can go to federal court to protect consumers and negotiate settlements with wide-ranging penalties. Those could potentially include paying cash restitution to the affected car owners and forcing VW to buy new national ads admitting the company lied to customers. I even called this one....Ill just leave it at that...and let Lady Justice do her thing. If Lady Justice feels that VW did nothing wrong, than so be it...however if all the Lady Justices in this world from differing countries drop the hammer for consumer fraud on top of everything else... I wont even respond to the inevitable defensive excuses some might have regarding THIS issue as well... Ill be watching on the sidelines laughing.
  22. Time to finish up work and break out the wine and chocolate! before or after your work out? LOL always Wine Down Friday at the end of the day, but then if the day is light, you know it is 5pm somewhere and if you worked the grave yard shift then this is 5pm and time to enjoy. Well....who am I argue? Relax and Enjoy! PS: Dont forget the strawberries! for a nice evening with the Missus.

  24. I am saddened if this is true. Its easy to say "oh well, it was a good run" especially 25 years worth. Its true, that many sports cars dont see a 25 year production run and that is an amazing feat in itself, but like a marriage, when you pass the 7 year itch (I wouldnt know what would be the equivalent in the automobile world if there actually is one) I tend to think that things should be smooth sailing as a name has been established and a core of loyal buyers too. Yes I know, both Camaro and Trans Am went away...and wasnt THAT sad? Proof of what Im talking about though is that CAmaro came back with a vengeance in both sales and performance to beget a 2nd generation Camaro loyal following and a 2nd generation of the 2nd generation resurrection. When Viper briefly went away a couple of years ago, I naively thought it was never permanent and I naively thought that when it did come back that it was here to stay forever, like the Corvette. In turn, I naively think the Corvette is here to stay forever also ignoring the fact that Corvette was nearly canceled several times in its history. As recently as the C4 to the C5 and the C6 to the C7. The C8 is a lock to happen, but are we sure the C9 will happen? Anyway, its sad when an automotive icon has to go away, especially an American legend like the Viper as I am an American car guy. Just to say, the Corvette eats up another competitor...
