  1. You said that twice. And I will agree to tech making it simpler and easier to live. Yet... THAT doesnt seem to be a simple task... We dont need to access garage doors and windows and lights from our phones. Accessing all that does NOT make our life simpler. It just makes our life ATTACHED to our phones... Think about it... A key is just needed to open the door of a muscle car, the second key to start her up... Carbs and press gas pedal half way down once or twice or if fuel injected, do nothing else but crank the key. Put the damned thing into drive and...just drive. Mash on the throttle to beat the tech laden whatever it is car next to you or just coast and cruise. Now...with all that tech bullshyte we got, do a countdown of what you need to do to your phone to access your phone...so you could access the app to open the car door and ultimately start your car. I guess its easier to do all that then to just get your old school keys out of your pocket, huh? Have a key fob? yeah...I guess its hard to press on the button that says open door whilst the key fob is still in your pocket. Take out the fob when you are getting into your car (at that point in time, the door is unlocked and its like having the car recognize you...) and using the key to start the car... Listen...Im not against future tech and all that. Im actually quite excited from all that futuristic mythology. But...when does it become too much? I get it with the high tech wizardry as I have cameras that I check on periodically from my iPhone to see if everything is OK at the restaurant. Its a tool to ease business ownership on all kinds of levels, but like I said, when is tech too much when the more we rely on it, the more we become slaves for it. And becoming slaves for material objects like that does NOT make life simpler and easier, it reduces our life to have new masters. Technological and digital material masters...
  2. That Ford feature IS awesome! Whenever as a family, we go somewhere (Softball games and practices or amusement park and water parks) and our belongings like wallets and keys seem to be more at risk of being lost and/or stolen on that particular outing, we take the Fusion and we do exactly that. We leave our stuff in the car, hidden of course like in the trunk, and off we go. Yes, the key pad feature is great. I remember trolling a pro-Ford guy over at Motor Trend Forums with that saying that its useless, but its really really great! I LOVE IT!
  3. Im afraid you are correct with that analysis. I guess alcoholics could also feel tech savvy as they need to breath into the car for it to start... LOL
  4. True dat! But my beef (and disdain) with that kind of thing is that do we really need our gadgets, including our cars, to be Mission Impossible & James Bond wizardry like? Does every aspect of our lives really need to be that high tech? All the time? My phone... is not locked. I dont have any password or thumb print unlock on it activated. No face recognition. Nada. The thing is, I dont leave my phone laying around anywhere either. Its always in my pocket. I dont shop around with it in the air. I dont constantly text or google or use it like its part of my natural limbs. I wouldnt want that tech in my car either. I have a hard time with push button start as is. I dont like that feature at all let alone having features being controlled by my phone... I have never equated push button start with race cars. I actually prefer the old fashioned way of putting the key in the ignition, turning and leaving it there until the big cubed V8 roars to life feeling the vibrations through the ignition unto my fingers. Fuel injected so I dont have to give some gas to the carb before that process. Although I dont mind that process either. Prefer that than the cold hearted way of just pushing a button like Im pushing the popcorn button on my microwave oven to pop some popcorn... You have to press on the brake for the engine to turn anyway, so its not as if push button start eliminates extra steps or anything... As far as face recognition goes, I wouldnt want to see the repair bill on that when the car in question is a few years old and the warranty is out.... Just more shyte to go wrong and expensive to repair making cars even more disposable... Its not the EV thing that makes cars more appliance like, its the overuse of technology... End of rant!
  5. 442s and Roadrunners
  6. Trans Ams and Hellcats
  7. Such an odd look... Im sure their software technologies promise us heaven and earth like all the modern shyte we end up consuming nowadays, and will be par for the course with other vehicles sold, but what an odd look that thing has.
  8. @David For me, it is no big deal to wear a suit and tie to a party if it was requested. Even if it wasnt requested, Id feel comfortable wearing a suit and tie when everybody else is in Hawaiian shirts and shorts. But this party is about you and not me. There are several facets to this for me and the suit is not the problem. Covid is. For me, in a Covid pandemic, with 2 vaccine shots and adequately protected, but definitely not wanting to catch Covid, because vaccines dont prevent Covid, vaccines lessen the symptoms... Id be weary of going to a party full of people because the risk of catching Covid is real regardless of being vaccinated or not. Are these people worth the risk? Are these people family? Or are these people just mild friends? For you, wearing comfortable clothing and NOT formal wear, are you gonna piss them off? If these people are family, then I dont think these people will care that you showed up in comfortable clothing. They'd be happy to see you and your lovely wife (and kids?) regardless! If these people were good friends, same thing applies! However, if these people are gonna be bitchy about what you decided to wear, maybe you shouldnt be risking catching Covid for them...because THAT is how I sees it. That is my opinion. Take the other Cheers and Gears folk's opinions and make the best decision for you and your wife and that is that!!!! PS: I havent been to a gathering requiring a suit and tie several years now. My mom passed 5-6 years ago and I had a wedding to attend in and around that time and that was the last time I wore a suit and tie. So I have a suit and tie on alert of need be. But I was thinking in acquiring 2-3 new suits soon. Even if I may not have any events to go to anytime soon. Taylor made is the only way I go.
  9. ^^^ There were a couple of those radios in my life back in the day!!! Thanx for the memories!!!
  10. Acura drivers 15 years ago were just as bad as the stereotypical BMW driver around these parts. Id say, Acura drivers, VW Golf GTI drivers, BMW and Audi drivers from the mid- 1990s to 2010 around, were the worst for douchebaggery driving tactics. This doesnt apply anymore. Acura SUV folk around here drive normally. There is no common vehicle in the Montreal area, really, with Douchbaggery drivers. But I have noticed since the summer that Toyoter and Lexus folk are afraid of their own shadows when driving. ALWAYS below the speed limit. ALWAYS unaware of their surroundings and not letting anybody get a chance to pass them. ALWAYS in a comatosed daze. I was stuck behind two youngish guys in IS-F Lexuses on 2 separate occasions in the summer... Countless of times behind Camrys and Corollas. Yesterday was a dorky Lexus SUV with a V8... I KNOW IT HAD A V8 BECAUSE I HAD TIME TO SEE HIS BACK END FOR A FEW MILES AND IT WAS SARCASTICALLY WRITTEN THERE MOCKING ME!!! Yesterday's post was me having a suppressed road rage attack and me letting off steam! (no worries, no actual road rage incident, but I HAD to tell someone!)
  11. I also like that idea of a '50s finned car to have big horsepower. Albeit with my approach, its more of a restomod and/or pro touring with modern everything. The exterior remains stock looking tho. Some exterior refinements are fine by me, but more original looking than modern. LED headlights and taillights are good. Maybe a bumper could be integrated in the body lines more... But the chrome stays! Powertrain is all modern though. (In some cases, if the car in question has matching numbered engines and the like, those could and will remain, but if the car in question has no engine for example, than a GM/Mopar/FoMoCo crate engine goes in. I am not searching for a V8 from the '50s from another junked car to put in... But...for some cars, stock appearance might not be part of the equation. Say Tri-Five Chevys... Those will have a hot rodded look! But then again, those cars have had hot rodded appearances since the '60s, so basically...par for the course! Cadillacs of the '50s and I would want to squeeze in a Blackwing 4.2 twin turbocharged V8... A '58 Plymouth Fury and THAT car would have a Hellcat crate engine under the hood. This one apparently has a Hellephant residing in it. But I would have fatter tires on it...
  12. Legault (Quebec's Premier---leader if you will) and Quebec has authorized and acquired 3rd booster shots for the old fogeys. Time has come where the old fogey's 2nd shot is waning so its time for them to get the boosters. And next month, Quebec will authorize the rest of the population whose 2nd shot has come to its 6 month limit to get their boosters. My family's time for the 3rd booster is gonna be in January. Soon.
  13. Why is it that Toyoter and Lexus drivers in and around the Montreal area all drive slow? No matter what model these drivers drive, no matter who is behind the damned wheel, no matter what time of the day it is or season it is, its always a waaaaaaay too slow commute and its a waaaaay too frustrating event being behind them!!!
  14. I didnt know how to react to these names. But I think your view on them best suits my feelings. Yes. I too am not a fan of these names. Its a source for comedic fodder. But seeing that these are some sort of a name and not alphanumerics,, its impossible for me to be hostile towards them. Yeah, I will chuckle at the thought of a CelestIQ or even at an Escalade IQ though.
  15. Ive got my reasons on why this is posted here and not in the what are you listening thread. Trolling just a little bit...
  16. I know. Read further...
  17. @ccap41 You have a reading comprehension problem? I said the program is on hiatus. Where does it say that I stopped helping people in my community? I hope you realize that you do not have a 'gotcha' moment. THAT is how you operate. Yoy troll with 'gotcha' monents. Grow up!
  18. Who said I didnt continue on? I said the government program stopped. Who told you I stopped helping people in my community?
  19. IE: his words dont fool me. I see through him. I see his...hypocrisy
  20. NOT about that. its about Musk telling ME that I need to be saved from a fairy tale extinction scenario where hundreds of billion of dollars are spent but 5 or 6 billion for a few souls save in the here and now is a no go because we cant save all humans. Yet spending hundreds of billions saving all humans from a fairy tale hundreds of years from now is the right way to spend. I never asked you to agree with me. Just told you how I feel about Musk. And I think he is a hypocrite... PS: I dont care how he spends his money. I just think he is a...hypocrite.
