  1. According to DeLorenzo, rant from June 8 2022 episode 1149, Ford has ominous signs and a shaky future... http://www.autoextremist.com/ Quite the opposite of what Sandy Munro suggests with Ford... Both opinions have some hard core truths to them. At the end of the day, both remain opinions...
  2. Although I like Sandy Munro, I dont understand how he could come to a conclusion that only 3 (presumably he is ONLY talking about the ones from the US) automakers to survive when he 1. hasnt really seen anything Ultium from GM because GM hasnt really launched anything Ultium just yet therefore cannot possibly see what or how Utlium will do in the market place. He hasnt been able to see and give an opinion on Ultium on how good or bad or how it compares to Tesla, Ford and Rivian... How does HE know what tech the Lyriq will have? How does HE know what the public will do for the Lyriq? How does HE know how the EV Silverado will fare against the F150 EV both in the market place and tech wise? 2. Hasnt really seen anything of concrete from Rivian. Other than that one SUV... And isnt Rivian currently having production woes and financial woes? Let them get by the chip shortage, the inflation, the production woes of 2022 and 2023 and possibly 2024 and THEN we could talk about Rivian becoming the new Big 3 from Detroit... Is Rivian even from Detroit? 3. Ford. Nothing really concrete from Ford either. Other than the Mach E. The F150 EV aint out yet. He hasnt seen it to tear it down... Pretty bold statements to make also considering that Tesla's quality issues are a huge concern and Tesla's manufacturing capabilities are STILL questionable REGARDLESS if people will always flock to Tesla. People cant buy a Tesla if Tesla cant produce the cars to meet demand. IF Ford is THAT good, then people WILL go to Ford if Tesla cant meet demand. And they (Tesla) CANT meet demand. They increase production, quality goes further down the shyytter... Tesla stays neutral to where they can comfortably build, produce and have decent quality, and it WONT be enough. GM will further get left over sales... especially if Utlium is that good as they say it is... And they means not only GM engineers, other folk not named Sandy Munro... He is like, dooming GM without ANY knowledge... He doomed the Mustang Mach E BEFORE he tested it... He tested it, he NOW believes Ford will survive and continue to be Big 3. He doomed Tesla too at one time... As much as I like him, I thought he was a blowhard then, and with this, I think he continues to be a blowhard and full of himself... Although I DO acknowledge the importance of what he does. I DO acknowledge his knowledge. However, he is like many of them, too phoquing cocky. Bob Lutz, Peter DeLorenzo, himself (Sandy Munro), all cut from the same know-it-all cloth blowhards...
  3. They dont make songs about Seattle tho... Of ALL the musical genius that came out of Seattle, and there is a LOT, NONE have sung about Seattle... If you could make it there, you could make it anywhere is talking about NY not Seattle. The little old lady who drives a super stock Dodge is from Pasadena, NOT Seattle. NYC is home to Batman, Superman, Spiderman. Macaulay Culkin was left alone IN New York, NOT Seattle. (Originally in Chicago) Dell Griffin and Neil Page were working IN NY to get to Chicago. They wouldnt even think about being in Seattle one iota... (cute little reference there) Crocodile Dundee visited NY AND Los Angeles. NOT Seatltle. New York is FAMOUS for its subway system and taxis... LA is famous for its hot rodding, roller skating, surfer lifestyle. NYC and LA overcrowded and overpriced? Lets talk about overcrowded and overpriced...coffee from Starbucks. How about we add another adjective starting with over. Overrated coffee from Starbucks. California has its own music sound. Same for NYC. NYC was home to many musical sounds. Seattle has...grunge ? Whoa. Where did all that hatred come from???
  4. Im so happy for you for your Mustang!!! When I read this post this morning, I was all smiles!!! Im so glad that the Mustang fired right up and was ready to be driven again...as you said...like it was 1987!!! Perfect Mustang songs, from the year 1987 and of course something from Hysteria maybe a love song a pop song and a classic '80s synth
  5. And then California comes along to renew my love affair with her.
  6. Its a shame that half of the Beatles are dead. Just as I was finding out who the Beatles were and what they meant, Lennon was murdered. But the thing is, when I first heard of the news that Lennon was murdered, I as a young kid, was not fully aware that John Lennon, was a Beatle, and was murdered... It dawned on me that one of the Beatles had died when Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson was singing Say Say Say. Ive seen some nice rides these past few days. I will be posting some pics.
  7. ^^^ I could sell the idea to the wife as: "Hey babe, its a hybrid!!!" Or "Hey babe, Im in the middle of a mid-life crisis over here. I NEED this car, capisce. At least Im not out here trying to seduce younger chicks, amirite???!!!" Either quote with a thick, New Jersey mafioso Italian accent. While I play this song as I say these things...
  8. Yes. Canadian, Bryan Adams is. I believe his dad was British though. An officer in the British Army. He was stationed somewhere in Canada when Bryan was born. Or something like that. If Im not mistaken, Bryan has dual citizenship between Canada and the UK. I like Bryan Adams. I would call myself a fan.
  9. We've had crazy gas prices in Quebec since the mid '80s to be honest. In Quebec now, its ludicrous. Its Europe levels of high gas prices right now up here. EVs are looking better and better by the minute...
  10. Tiganites and loukoumades are very very similar. In all honesty, I think one is a variation of the other. Tiganites being flat and individually being of different size and shape and usually bigger than loukoumades and loukoumades being made round and more uniform to each other. And I was thinking more of loukoumades rather than tiganites to be honest. My aunt used to make tiganites and my mom loukoumades. I definitely preferred the loukoumades. Been awhile... Looks like @trinacriabob is more Greek than I am at this point. LOL
  11. Krispy Kreme glazed donuts are the best! Dunkin' Donuts strawberry filled donuts are a close second. Well, the ones that I tasted and ate in the 70s and 80s at least. Tim Hortons Donuts suck BIG TIME!!! I am not a big donut guy. We only have 1 Krispy Kreme location and its far from where I work and live. It was near my mother-n-law's house. But she passed away a couple of years ago so I dont visit that area anymore. Therefore I dont eat donuts anymore. There is a Greek equivalent called τιγανίτες. English spelling tiganites. Its fried dough smothered in honey. Sesame seeds are optional. Those I die for. Unfortunately my wife REFUSES to make me. Since my mom and mother-n-law passed away, I have no where to go and eat them anymore. There is a place called MR. Puffs in the Montreal region that makes tiganites. There is an outlet near my restaurant. I just havent had the desire to go. I miss my mom and mother-n-law.
  12. Hi! My name is Oldshurst and I am an automotive bigot. All CUVs look the same to me...therefore I judge them to be all the same. I also HATE them all!!! I wish they could all burn to the ground. I am NOT for a more diverse automotive universe. I prefer the automotive world to be car based coupes, sedans and convertibles while REAL SUVs should be relegated to work shops and off-roading. Hauling stuff around should be done in pick-up trucks and fullsized vans and if we need to haul families around, sedan based wagons should be the ONLY way. We could stretch that to vans and minivans. Yup...all CUVs look the same and I am Oldshurst, an automotive bigot. PS: I am NOT lying when I say that CUVs all look the same. The rest is just humorous banter. Except the part that I wished ALL CUVs dead dead dead!!!
  13. It would be a complicated answer. There are many variables to consider and calculate. On all sides of the equation. Definition of "all sides of the equation": 1. people who are against EVs 2. people who are for EVs 3. people who are against oil and big oil companies 4. people who are for oil and big oil companies All 4 types are different from one another but they may belong in one subset or two of each other. Biased reasoning that will make it seem that batteries are dirtier than gasoline or batteries are cleaner than gasoline depending on what spectrum the reasoning lies on. In some cases, its that. However, if the world's engineers could decide on a future where compatibility of recycling batteries could be achieved, then it could be a cleaner future and a very interesting one at that... There is talk about using old EV batteries as a unit, a collection of EV batteries that are no longer viable to power a single car, but as a unit, could power factories, buildings, hospitals, houses etc... as a second life after EV usage. https://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/car-makers-and-startups-get-serious-about-reusing-batteries https://www.mckinsey.com/~/media/McKinsey/Industries/Automotive and Assembly/Our Insights/Second life EV batteries The newest value pool in energy storage/Second-life-EV-batteries-The-newest-value-pool-in-energy-storage.ashx#:~:text=Potential to spark a second life&text=Subjected to extreme operating temperatures, useful life in most cases. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1110016821001757 One thing that us humans should be thinking about, IS trying to reduce our polluting ways. Whether EVs are the answer, we really do NOT know if THAT is truly the way to go. However, we DO know that using fossil fuels is NO LONGER the way to go. We DO need to change our ways in THAT regard and STOP using fossil fuels to power our every day transport vehicles. If we DO accept and adopt EVs as our method of every day transport, and THAT happens to NOT be the answer, then we shall course correct and find another way. But we DO have to STOP fossil fuel usage to adopt a new way. RIGHT NOW. If batteries is a short term solution, then so be it. We shouldnt be afraid to course correct every time a solution happens to NOT be the right way. Batteries, you will find, on the greater scheme of things, do pollute LESS than fossil fuels do. When you do your own research from ALL the biased places from all equations, and you read up on all the possible technology that batteries, electricity, charging networks using solar power etc, you will see for yourself that electricity and batteries have a great potential to change our way of living. For the better. Take batteries as a second life. Install used batteries in your house. Use solar power to recharge these batteries. Use batteries to power your home. No need to be on the grid for too long. The grid has a blackout, no need for a generator as your home will have batteries to power your home. And the possibilities are endless.. Already, EV F150s, as Ford is tooting around, that in case of an emergency, the truck itself could work to power your home in case of a blackout... Tesla's often laughed at Powerwall. Well, second life batteries started as an idea BECAUSE of Tesla's Powerwall technology... Keep in mind we are still learning about electricity. We are still learning how to create it, how to better distribute it, how to harness it... Maybe we us a species will find that miracle energy source that will power every thing, for free and wont pollute. Until then, we will have to course correct for slightly better solutions, small steps at a time going forward in our future for our existential survival. Batteries is this next small step forward. Just my opinion. But my opinion is NOT based on anti-anything or pro-anything. Im pro batteries, yes. But its not because Im a tree huggin. car hatin' green guy hippy. Im pro battery because batteries and electricity have the potential to be THAT utopia solution. But Im also not bound to that principle. The research to come to a conclusion on your own is exhausting. YOU will have to do it on your own though. Take it all in. Its worth it.
  14. Yeah...Bummer. This will influence...SUV styling. I do like it as is though. And I do like the updated Buick logo.
  15. Which I have stated MANY times. Point is... When ALL things are equal, with EQUAL CUVs and equivalent sedans, the CUV will have a HIGHER chance of a roll over. Why? Physics. CUVs are taller. I said it plenty times. No matter how you wanna dissect it. Its PHYSICS... A higher center of gravity vehicle will have a higher risk of a roll over than a lower gravity one. Its physics. And by the GIFS I posted, by the looks of it, CUVs, it doesnt take much to roll them over no matter what electronic gizmos have been implemented to mitigate roll overs. Why? Physics takes over...time and time again. Physics will ALWAYS take over. Argue until the cows come home. Physics will always win an argument like this. I do not have time to continue with this charade. Good morning folk. See ya'll in the late afternoon. This is false narrative. The vehicle is on its roof. Passengers move violently inside. Airbags and stuff. Sure. Passengers still move violently inside the compartment. Not only are the forces back and forth and side to side. Now the forces are up and down and the roof collapsing rather than just the doors and rear and front. Again...physics...
  16. Semantics... I aint talking about head on collisions with a 5000 pound Escalade ESV with a 1970s Honda CVCC here. If you want waste your day arguing about shyte like that, have at it. Find some other loaf to do that with you tho. I aint got time for dat. My stance has NEVER wavered from the get go from what I want to say. I said it and will say it again. CUVs and SUVs have a high center of gravity. They have a higher chance of a roll over making them NOT safer than their equivalent sedan counterparts. MANY technological advancements have been made to mitigate this. But, whatever electronic techno wizardry have been installed to CUVs have also been installed in sedans too making THAT technological advnacement for CUVs a moot point. Physics comes into play regardless at some point. Have a nice morning CCAP.
  17. @ccap41 Its physics, buddy. Good 'ole physics. I even posted pictures for you to look at... Its OK. You do you. I dont really care.
  18. Wrong on both accounts, bud... My statement, and Surreals, has just been confirmed to be...true! Maybe you should be going back to high school...
  19. Well, confirmation bias maybe at play here. Plenty of false narrative publications of why CUVs and SUVs are safer than sedans are abundant. And the sweeping the white elephant under the rug thing as well. Many have adopted CUVs, so to ignore the obvious and downplay the obvious as to feel better about one's purchase is what is mainly happening here...
  20. No. Wheelbase is a factor too. Although I should have mentioned track as well... Breaking hard, the vehicle yaws forward. Combine that with a turn, and a shorter wheelbase and the handling is destabilized. Combine that with a higher center of gravity and a roll over may ensue. Both play a part. . A car has 2 critical movements in the 3rd dimension that influence handling characteristics. 1. side to side movement. Track and height affect this. 2. Front and back movement. Wheelbase and weight distribution affect this motion. https://unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/trans/doc/2010/wp29grrf/AMEVSC-03-03e.pdf
  21. Martin Brodeur
  22. https://mathspig.wordpress.com/tag/centre-of-gravity/ So the Lamobgini Diablo is very hard to roll (build a higher ramp) and it therefore beats the SUV for stability every time. Definition of Center of Gravity...
  23. Well...obviously...nothing rolls over by itself. Other than maybe a...ball? Spirited driving with stability control will allow higher speeds of spirited driving with CUVs. Yes...its true. But physics comes into play one way or other. *SIGH* CUVs have a higher center of gravity because they are a TALLER vehicle. The wheelbase is not longer than an equivalent sedan so the tipping point of that equivalent CUV is less forgiving... Its physics.... No matter how you guys wanna dissect it, its physics....
  24. Just a few years ago is the key phrase. And I also mentioned electronic technological wizardry. The thing is, sedans ALSO benefit from this stability control wizardry. The thing is, yes, the speed limits are higher with stability control, and yes, there are some stability controls that work the brakes, suspension travels and corrective steering to avoid and/or mitigate roll overs. Physics however, take over. All the GIFs I CAREFULLY chose and the equivalent sedan accident would NOT make the sedan flip over. Such as this one A sedan getting T boned, just makes the sedan fly into the other car, or possibly the curb further down. But the sedan will not flip like that. A FASTER T Bone and the sedan MAY flip. But this T Bone was not really at blazing speeds either... I dunno what shytty shenanigans this idiot was doing with his Mercedes CUV prior to the roll over...but his sporty CUV is also a Mercedes...and it rolled over. But a sedan would REALLY have to go blazingly fast to flip over at that round-about taking a sharp turn...but blangingly fast also means the sedan will simply NOT turn, not roll over but just go THROUGH the round-about... The CUV will probably...roll over MULTIPLE times. This sporty CUV, from Mercedes, I will mention Mercedes MULTIPLE times, because its a high end CUV FROM Mercedes with presumably high end stability controls to AVOID roll overs at seemingly low speeds such as in THIS case...but nope...it rolled over.
