It has been a very emotional draining, life altering week. Two shocking events happened. One positive and one negative. I dunno what all this means. I dunno what will happen next. Ill keep you guys posted. Both events dont concern me or my family but both have the potential to affect us directly.

I was never fascinated by keeping and preserving patina on restored vehicles. I do understand and applaud this type of restoration. Im just not enamored by it. Do I think its "beautiful"? I guess it depends on the vehicle itself and how the patina ended up being and how the overall restoration and build was done.

^^^ Was the owner pissed like the GM owner was and vowed to never own a Toyoter ever again? 2 weeks ago, I had a long conversation with an employee's dad about cars. How his first car was a (forgot the year he told me) mid '70s Mustang II. How he bought it used in 1982 or 1983 and how it was the shyttiest car he EVER owned. (Keep in mind he told me it was his FIRST car ever...bought it used) Never told me what the problem(s) were and THAT was his 1st and last Ford product he ever bought...but it was the shyttiest car he ever owned and just by THAT experience of owning a USED car, that he swore off Ford forever...since 1982 or 1983 on a used mid 1970s Mustang II. Okay, not that the Mustang II was a great car or anything...but he told me he bought a Sentra (from Nissan) and never has he strayed away from Nissan ever since. Okay. A mid 1980s Sentra WAS a decent built car with minimal problems. He at least admitted to me that he has had a couple of recent Nissans with CVT problems and an Altima that Nissan replaced the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder due to a recall in 2004 or 2005. Most people glance over these things when dissing American cars and they talk about their Japanese or German cars they own... BUT... The problem is, he was telling me about his Nissan problems like its a normal thing. His speech about Ford and you could see the hatred towards American cars, NOT just Ford. Like how I stated it to @smk4565 earlier, its too damned bad the high standards he continues to put on Ford and never has he returned to buy a NEW one, that he doesnt hold that same high standard towards Nissan... Its quite astonishing to see that kind of logic... And its a logic that Im fed up with. (yet another thing I dont like to see and hear about car culture) Its frustrating. I apologize about the self hatin' American comments I made earlier. But its quite puzzling to me that Americans hold those high standards on their home grown products (and rightfully so), but TOTALLY ignore the piece of shyte cars the foreign makes have peddled to us and some of us do NOT hold the foreign makes accountable like how we boycott the domestics...

I see a parallel between this video (not airplane) and this "Oh yeah! Real good!"

Rivian R1T Production Trucks Rolls Off Assembly Line
oldshurst442 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Rivian
^^^ And column shift... Since on fossil fueled engines AND on EVs the shifter is a drive by wire affair anyway, there is absoluuutely no need to clog up a center console with a knob to put a car into gear. On the dash or a lever on the steering column like the good 'ole days would free up soooooo much space in that area where hips tend to be. And if bench seats DO make a come back, sexy time in the car up front would be soooooo much more comfortable than it is now. Yeah...just like the good 'ole days. Maybe songs (rock-n-roll hopefully) about cars and makin' out in them could also make a come back because of this little switch. And good 'ole love songs and rock ballads could make a return as a result of all that lovin' and soon enough, milkshakes at the drive-in burger joint with waitresses on rollerblades serving you at your car could also return. But alas...I wasnt born when all that magic happened when it did happen and if it ever came back, Ill be too damn old to enjoy it. Bah humbug! -
LOL I edited the post into that pic because of a joke that was gonna fall flat. The joke was not good. So I panicked as for my edit time would not expire so NOBODY could read it so I google 'Silverado EV' and on the image side of things was that pic. So I posted it real quick. I did not get a chance to see what source it came from. I think...it was GM Authority website.

Book of love. And who wrote it?

They had the Volt Hybrid when they introduced the Bolt BEV. Seeing that they introduced a slightly bigger EV and named THAT one a Bolt EUV, maybe they could have just NOT used a new name called Bolt in the FIRST place, and JUST build off the positive image and great little car the Volt had done for itself and just named the Bolt a Volt <something or other> A family of Volts would have given Toyota and the Prius family some (same game) competition. But...they could go back to the Volt name with this latest debacle AFTER they fix the problem. Volt and Volt EUV. Sounds good to me!

Id say you, with a foreign German Bimmer bike, didnt want to play with your 'paisanos'. They are the ones with the 'domestic' bike after all doing what Americans ALWAYS do! Being LOUD! Id say, YOU were the obnoxious one for NOT being loud! You are TOO good to be LOUD are ya???!!! WEHHLLLLl! LOOKIE WHO WE HAVE HERE???!!! An American who thinks he is Canadian.

LOL 1. '69 2. '77 I previously quoted you on '74 myself, but I never did post a '74. But that is an unimportant detail. I aint gonna 'defend' why I think those cars are beautiful in a sexy black and white dress. I just do. The 'design' of a '69, '74 and '77 will never ever catch the art world on fire. But do they have to in order for anybody to post any car in this thread? That is not the purpose of this thread anyway. Beautiful means different things to different people. And as such, any car deemed beautiful by anybody, could post a pic of that car in this thread. We could criticize the choice. Art critiquing has been around as long as art itself has been around. That is always fun. But to cease posting 'ugly' cars (to somebody) is not very helpful in sharing thoughts and ideas, in my opinion.

Each and EVERY car I post in this thread, I see a certain beauty aspect to it. Be it a paint job. Be it the angle of the shot with the lighting and the background that is represented with the specific car of choice or just the picture itself regardless of the vehicle. Be it the memory of a car regardless of so called beautiness. Cars do bring out nostalgia and that in itself is beautiful. Or simply, a truly beautiful car. A UNIVERSALLY beautiful car. But again, who is to decide what UNIVERSALLY beautiful really is. Universally, a 1960s Jaguar XKE is deemed to be THE most beautiful car EVER created. I dont think so. I, in fact, think its ugly. Well, ugly maybe too strong of a word, but I dont find it appealing in the least. There are many facets and standards of beautiful. And especially in a thread of "beautiful" cars. To each his own. If you dont appreciate the last couple of cars I posted. Its OK. You dont have to. Ill eventually post something you might find beautiful. I hope you could continue to use this thread though!

Yes. And you mention it yourself while denouncing it at the same time... And beautiful is a different standard and is viewed differently for different people. Sure, multiple people could view the same thing you view as beautiful and the same people could view things as ugly as you view things those same things. But, ugly, also is a different standard and is viewed differently for different people. Sure, multiple people could view the same thing you view as ugly and the same people could view things as beautiful as you view those same things. And... The things you view as beautiful and ugly, there are as many people that have the total opposite view as yours. And the many (trillions upon trillions) of different combinations of what the different human minds there are and have existed view and have viewed and will continue to view as beautiful and ugly. You dont get to decide, NOBODY gets to decide what ANYBODY could post in this thread if they deem to share it as a beautiful car. The IDEA is to APPRECIATE it, NO MATTER if its beautiful or ugly to you, or to me.

And there could NEVER be a line, because WHO is to determine what is and what isnt beautiful? Keeping in mind that little thing you called subjectivity. A 1974 Monaco, especially in a police uniform, to me, is QUITE the beautiful car. Now, you could vomit all you want with that statement, you cannot be judge, jury and executioner to tell me that a 1974 Monaco is not beautiful. Is what it is.
