  1. Your wish is my command. 'xcept imma do it in here instead. 1986 RWD (non muscle) Personal Coupes. Why...cant these be loved?
  2. Thanks for pointing that out. When the switch to BEs will commence, I wonder if all the people involved in pushing out ICEVs thought about EV weight? In Quebec, our politicians KNOW and REALIZE that 18 wheelers, especially OVERweight 18 wheelers cause our highways to be shyte, I wonder if these same guys are aware that EVs are ridiculously OVERweight... I dont think the politicians pushing for EVs are aware that our roads are gonna be destroyed much much sooner than planned... 84 hundred pounds... SHYTE!!!
  3. oh-kay The (mostly) economical, fun to drive and fun to be seen in, sporty coupes of the mid '80s (that I posted) are an appreciation of cars that are not offered anymore by any of the OEMs of today. There are virtually no offerings of these kinds of vehicles. It be cool if OEMs offered 2 door coupes of their CUVs, but (sadly?) OEMs and the public dont want anything to do with that kind of vehicle. The songs that I posted are an ode to these long forgotten cars. In your case, long and forgotten maybe a good thing? But in my case, I miss seeing these on the roads even if they didnt set any car designs on fire. But they were fun little cars. Maybe if OEMs took their time to design fun elements in their CUVs today, including having 2 doors, I wouldnt be lamenting on the loss of these... Because I certainly didnt like these when these were new. Except for the Toyota Supra. I liked that one. EDIT PS: Some OEMs HAVE tried to bring back fun and funky styling in the last decade to small cars and CUVs, but the public largely ignored them. I seen a Crown Vic a few weeks ago. Although it hasnt been that long since it cease to exist, I miss it already. The cop cars are an appreciation of that Crown Vic and how it lived its life during its final days. These cop cars happen to be my favorite cop cars. It is an appreciation thread after all. Beautiful could mean MANY things. It was a beautiful time, the 1980s. Car design may have been at some of the lowest in history, hence the term malaise era (among other things) , but at least (American) pop culture was at its peak and when we were living in it at the time, we had a BLAST indulging at ALL the things the 1980s gave us! Hence those posts.
  4. I see Greeks in Greece do that exact same kind of parking! I think Europeans in general park with such liberties as their roads for the most part are tight. They gotta maximize all the real estate they have whether its for parking or for letting other cars use the damned road way.
  5. I agree one thousand and one percent! Especially with those mags. Chromed of course!

  7. That got me thinking. Why would these two have the same jingle? So I googled. It turns out that an even LARGER and OLDER windshield replace shop bought out Safelite in 2007. Belron. A United Kingdom headquartered company founded in Cape Town, South Africa in 1897. And guess what? Speedy Glass was also acquired by Belron. Lebeau being the Quebec version. Belron operates in 32 countries acquiring glass repair shops in those countries. Safelite was founded in 1947 in Ohio Speedy Glass was founded in 1949 in Ontario I believe. Lebeau Vitres D'Autos of Quebec was founded in 1947. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safelite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belron
  8. The topic was how panoramic glass roofs dont belong on pick-up trucks and how these could be expensive fixes if ever they get broken. Speedy Glass repair. Speedy Glass replace... A catchy Canadian jingle of a Canadian business that repairs or replaces windshields that are cracked. There is something humorous about me posting that advertising. Or maybe not. They cant all be winners. LOL
  9. The Seville never caught my eye in the 1970s as a very young boy as some other 1970s cars did. I noticed that particular model when it was several years older in the early 1980s. Didnt think too much of it other than it being a nicer Chevrolet Malibu when the early '80s Malibu hit the streets. As a more or less 10 year old...I couldnt help but notice the similarities. I didnt find it offensive in the least. Just meh since I didnt I like the Malibu. Like at all. I did find it better proportioned and better looking than the Malibu, but too similarly styled to like it further than that. I didnt think it was a bad Cadillac. Just an underwhelming one. I think I saw Body Heat once. Maybe on TV. A very TV friendly version probably. Dont recall anything about it. I do remember the Beta and VHS art work/movie poster images on the cassettes as I passed by the shelf where the movie resided on at the movie rental store on my way to rent something else... PS: Yes...memory lane is a fun lane to be driving on from time to time.
  10. True. And I am assuming this with the C8 as Id like to think that its a smashing hit and a very sought after vehicle and these were all accounted for. Chevrolet didnt get a chance to produce many because of the reasons I stated above and that only fueled the need to own one. (coupled with the world wide praise for its speed performance)
  11. Its not about that I dont think. Its about these Corvette C8 would be owners FINALLY getting their hands on their cars finally after 3-4 shut downs because of union strikes, Covid delays and chip shortages only to have this fall upon them. First world problems that insurances and modern mass production technology couldnt handle. I agree. Still sucks. (To be them... As much money as these guys have to be buying these things in the first place...)
  12. As far as mid-engined cars go. I got tired of the boy racer, shock and awe approach of Lamborghini styling for mid-engine cars. Ferrari done ugly there for awhile too. They are still not out of that ugly funk of theirs. The latest generation Ford GT is at about the limits of what I could stomach on boy racer mid-engine styling. The Corvette C8 falls into this category as well. No Koenigsegg, no Pagani no Bugatti for me. I like that generation R8 with the new NSX because they look "classy". As if James Bond (the German and the Japanese version of James Bond) would be driving. I dont like the McLarens because they are just a tad too bland. And try real hard to emulate Ferrari styling while still trying to forge their own styling. Its like they want to do the original NSX take on it, but ironically, their original McLaren F1 accomplished JUST that. Ironically, the 1st gen R8 and NSX have the right mixture of boy racer and subdued styling that is unique to solely to them. Something the McLaren F1 already had accomplished waaay back in the mid-1990s.
  13. Every weed in the desert is still a flower, tho Yellow Daisy (considered a beautiful flower?) (Is that Audi considered beautiful? Because I know plenty who do...but those same folk dont like the NSX, yet they look awfully alike. Kinda like that Marigold Desert weed...and the yellow daisy. ) Its all about perception . And perspective. Lets throw in a piss en lit in there for kicks and giggle. A dandelion just for you anglophones out there. Just dandy! Because one man's weed (from ugly duckling to swan analogy as well) could also mean entirely different things as...that may be just as beautiful to them. Mustangs and Hellcats As opposed to Mustangs and...Hellcats
