Magna makes cars and large components for clients like BMW (BMWYY), GM (GM), and even Ferrari (RACE). In addition, one area that puts upward pressure on the price tags of EVs are batteries. Fisker is using CATL, the world’s largest battery manufacturer, to make a custom package for the Ocean, using cheaper LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery cells for the Ocean Sport model, and more energy dense nickel manganese cobalt cells for the extended range Ocean trim levels. On top of all that, Fisker wants this car to be the most sustainable car on the planet — hence the name "Ocean." “So the idea with this vehicle is to make it the world's most sustainable vehicle, so we've got a solar roof that can give you up to 1,500 miles for a year, we've got a fully vegan interior with recycled materials,” he says. Even all the carpets are made from recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets from the ocean, and the carbon fiber elements on the car and the wheels are, you guessed it, recycled. With 20,000 reservations in the order book right now, the company is seeing good interest in a car that won’t see the streets until the third quarter of 2022. But this is according to plan. Fisker understands that production, versus prototyping, is hard. Tesla’s Elon Musk says this almost on a weekly basis. It’s in an extremely complicated process that requires proper systems, technical partners, and of course, capital, to get right. The challenge for EV startups, Fisker says, is how to ramp up and produce several hundred thousand vehicles a year — and not take 10 years to do it. This is where Fisker’s partner Magna comes into a play, with its capability to produce thousands of cars of year, coupled with new capital raises the Fisker has made this year ($1 billion through its SPAC IPO and $600 million in a debt offering), to invest in R&D and acquire know-how and parts from technical partners. It’s the only way startups can compete with the GMs and Fords (F) of the world. “A car is made of about 1,500 parts or even more, depending on how many screws you count, and all these parts have to come in just in time. They have to be put together exactly at the right time in the right sequence,” Fisker says. “I think most EV startups underestimate that. it has taken the traditional car industry many, many decades to perfect this, and that's what they're really good at.”

  5. Ferrari's latest V12 Which is basically this one but is in the company's latest mid-engine supercar. I dont find it stunning anymore. My love affair lasted a whole 24 hours. When I first saw it on the interwebs yesterday, I was awed. I had time to take it all in but now I realize, it just a blob. I like the bulbous fenders, but that is all I like. That V12 though
  6. I dunno why these fights happened or why the NBA has gotten to be that intense all of a sudden. Competition will always garner friction amongst the competitors and foes. Its in the nature of winning and losing. Yeah, I saw the game. I am a Cowboys fan. Why I mentioned it the way I did is because, although in the NHL fighting is also not allowed, never has been allowed, it continues to be tolerated as a means to diffuse tensions of perceived injustices between the players. An illegal hit and especially if the officials failed to see and punish the infraction and fighting will be allowed to happen as a means to ease the tension so the game could go on without anymore shenanigans. The combatants will get penalties, and if they fight again in the same game, they will be 'disqualified' as per NFL lingo. They will get a game misconduct as per NHL lingo. An illegal hit will be reviewed and the dirty hit player will get fined or suspended. But this is where the NHL lacks as compared to the NBA and NFL. Player safety rules arent enforced as strongly and logically and dirty players arent punished as harshly as they could be. In that Raiders/Cowboys game. The two players will probably get suspended. In the NHL, a situation like that will not even get noticed. If a play was made intended to injure the other player, then maybe a suspension might happen in the NHL. In the NFL, just a little tango between players will garner a suspension. A dirty hit will most definitely garner something more intense than just a game suspension and a fine. Lebron Jame's incident will most definitely invoke a fight in the NHL. Whether the perpetrator of an elbow to the head of an opponent will be involved in the fight is not important, a policing fight will happen. Its most satisfying when the perpetrator of a dirty play IS involved in the fight both for the players and the fans, but for the game to continue on without anymore shenanigans going forward, for the players, its not important. As llong as some sort of on the ice justice between the players has happened. And THAT is the main difference in NHL hockey versus the other pro sports and leagues. Off the ice, the perpetrator will get a suspension if the victim has a concussion. If not, the dirty player will probably just get a fine... And THAT is also another difference in the NHL. Dirty hits are not stifled enough through harsher league punishments. But hockey players and hockey fans are never satisfied with the punishment no matter what side of the fence you sit on and will ALWAYS say that the punishment is bullshyte. LOL

I believe you when you say its not easy being a single dad. Im also glad that your son has been able to cope with losing his mom so young. You'll have to (or your son...) will eventually have to buy a car for himself. The Trax I take it, is a good reliable ride. No need to give it up. You will have to drive it from time to time so it doesnt sit in your driveway and rot. But that is a good thing as you minimize wear and tire to both of your cars.   10. I was thinking about this post. And although I said one thing about the future of the Challenger and Charger if these cars stayed as V8s not surviving. I must agree to say that as of now, the faction for E Muscle form Dodge in the form of BE Charger and Challenger aint very big and therefore the future of electric Chargers and Chargers not surviving is also a possibility. But, if we do go by the past, Charger and Challenger have died staying the course... But then again, Challenger didnt last long when it tried to re-invent itself as a Mitsubishi badge job. But then again, the Challenger that WAS given to us as a badge job wasnt much of a Dodge or a Challenger... The Dodge muscle car was a specially designed and marketed vehicle in the 1960s and early 1970s. SRT has proven to be a highly specialized performance juggernaut since the Viper's introduction and they are tasked to re-invent the Dodge muscle car. Ford's performance engineering successfully engineered and marketed a turbo 6 cylinder GT named race car and an electric SUV named Mustang. Chevrolet's Corvette team has successfully re-invented the Corvette into a mid-engined car and has made people lust over a Ferrari styled powerplant and not only that the mere thought of an electric Corvette and people have been dreaming about what those performance specs will be... I think SRT engineers and Dodge's marketing team have got this since SRT cars are no slouches compared to their cross town rivals in Michigan and Dodge's marketing team SURPASSES them by several car lengths... Yeah...I think E Muscle will be popular. I aint worried about the future of BE Challengers and Chargers. Dont get me wrong, Im already lamenting the death of the supercharged Hemi. But it is what it is.

  12. The global thinking about the internal combustion engine is not changing? What? Performance vehicles? Or are we specifically talking about retro styled pony cars from Chevy, Ford and Dodge and specifically the Charger and Challenger? Because sure, the Charger and Challenger VISUALLY does not cater to futurism. But what powers these vehicles must cater to the future because if it doesnt, the nameplates will just disappear...again. We could talk about the past all we want, but when Chryco failed to address the fuel crisis and the insurance issues of the 1970s concerning these very vehicles, these very nameplates just died. The Charger was renamed into something else as to not elude to the idea of muscle and the Challenger just went away. The Challenger did come back as a Mitsubishi only to die off again shortly after only for Dodge to introduce a new sporty coupe with Mitsu's collaboration. A twin turbo AWD 6 cylinder sports car. And it did fairly well in the decade that it was introduced. Sure, it took Ford to go retro back into time with its Mustang that sparked the Challenger and Charger comeback along with a resurrected Camaro... But are we sure that 'go back into time' movement was a muscle car one? There was a Mustang and a GT40. True. But there was also a failed GTO resurrection. There was a retro PT Cruiser and a retro Chevy HHR that were sales hits. But the retro Chevy SSR V8 was a market failure. So was a V8 Thunderbird that was a failure. The New Beetle and the Mini were sales hits. None of which had V8s in them... Or RWD for that matter. The insane push with supercharged V8s making 700 and 800 plus horsepower has made the Charger and Challenger into legends. But if Dodge does not navigate the future of gasoline as a fuel for propulsion and especially the price of it heading into the future, and Dodge will only be looking at the past glory of the V8, Im afraid that the Challenger and Charger nameplates will be disappearing again. Oh sure, plenty of folk are buying these cars now, but will they WHEN gasoline prices are no longer cheaper in price than drinking water? So... A suggestion of keeping the Challenger and Charger as internal combustion vehicles is a must. But keeping them as V8s wont be feasible for folks that wont be able to afford the price of V8 consumption of gasoline. Therefore, in keeping with tradition and keeping these cars as gasoline powered cars, the suggestion would be to make these into turbo 2.0 4 cylinder cars? Unless the argument is that gasoline prices will not increase. But, we do know that if it aint the gas prices that will do in the V8, the pollution related regulations will. And not only will those regulations kill the V8, but the internal combustion engine itself. Yes, there is a pushback against the death of the V8 and the internal combustion engine and consequentially the nameplates that these V8s inhabit... The King is dead! Long live the King!

  14. But those particular 90 year old guys have long since past, 90 years ago. Oh....you mean 90 year olds tah-day... I get you. I get you. Why put these guys in electrics doing 4 seconds to 60 and shock them (pun intended) when you could be putting them in supercharged Hellcat SUVs instead. Something familiar to them. They were in their mid 30s after all when these dinosaurs roamed the earth.
  15. SWEEEEEEEEEET E-MOOOOOOOH-SHAWN! SWEEEEEEEEEET E-MOOOOOOOH-SHAWN! From this To this Im ready for it! Oh sure, I will surely miss that supercharged V8 snarl and growl, but it is time to move on from it. Will "e-muscle" be able to replace real muscle? There is a 'yes' answer to that question and a 'no' answer to that question. A big fat no when it comes to sound and rumble and feel. A big fat yes as it will scoot and get you where you wanna go just as fast and cool as the muscle it will be replacin'. It will look like a Dodge muscle car. It wont sound like one. But the world is unrecognizable since when the original Mopar Hemis, Ford Flatheads, Olds Rockets, Buick Nailheads, Poncho and Chevy rat motors ruled the earth. The world had changed dramatically when the Challenger and Camaro came back from the dead 15 years ago and the world has taken another huge turn to change even further the last 5 to change it even more from the last 15. We could sulk and continue to sing sad tunes and ask ourselves Where have all the good times gone or embrace the change and roll with it... Id rather roll with it... Yeah...it aint KISS, its Green Day, its 2021 with COVID in the air, but its still a damn good cover of a damn good song. Might as well enjoy that Rock is still played and enjoyed by many folk. Same with Dodge E-Muscle. Dodge Muscle Cars WILL live on. With electric powertrains... Hopefully Dodge makes their electric offerings with the same cool factor that they did their V8 muscle car offerings from the '60s and '70s. Remember, Dodge muscle did go away in the mid '70s. It did come back with the Viper. It wasnt a V8 and it was only one model. Remember, Dodge in the 1990s had given us a Neon. It was fun and fast in SRT4 trim... But we did laugh at it. Oh how we have forgotten???!!! The SRT4 Neon... Like I said, the world had changed big time from the 60s to the 90s and reversed itself back into a 600s state of mind in the 2010s. But the 2020s are hear and the world has changed again. But this time around, the change is for something new. And it looks promising.
  16. To be honest, even some of his earlier stuff was meh. To be honest, some of his later stuff was just as funny as his funniest earlier stuff. Daddy Day Care and Haunted House were great family oriented movies. He was great in Norbit and the Nutty Professor to which showcased his acting prowess in doing multiple characters. He experimented with that with Coming to America along with Arsenio Hall to which Arsenio was also great in. Coming to America 2 I haven seen, but as with all sequels, especially sequels to movies that are a couple decades apart, I suspect was probably not that good. Another 48 hours was crap. Movie from relatively early in his career. Not early early like Trading Places or the original 48 hours, but right after Beverly Hills cop 2 and Coming to America. Harlem Nights was crap, which was at the same time as Another 48 Hours. Vampire in Brooklyn Beverly Hills Cop 3 were pure crap. Mid point of his movie career. Dr Doolittle was a good children's movie. Bowfinger and Showtime were excellent in rekindling that Eddie Murphy goofiness we were accustomed too. He has had hits and misses throughout his movie career all around is what Im saying. But movies and movie acting really dont showcase his funny-ness. He hasnt done stand-up or live TV funny sketches since the 1980s, so we cant really know if he has stayed relevant with his jokes. But if Shrek and that franchise let him loose on some of the dialogue like some other voice over cartoon comedians were allowed to such as Robin Williams with Aladdin, then to me, he is still that hilarious guy I saw on Beta and on VHS. (Delirious and Raw) I think some of that Donkey dialogue was Eddie's. And no, he wasnt swearing, like we are used to with Eddie Murphy, the things that Eddie said as Donkey were funny. As were the dialogue in his other funnier movies like Showtime. The movie was crap, the character that Eddie played was pure Eddie Murphy...the Eddie Murphy that we know and love.
  17. Beginning of November, while changing the all seasons to winters on my car, a fine 1997 Bonnie was at the garage. I know the mechanic so I was shooting the shyte with him until the end of the night and this pic was taken at closing time. Suspension work was needed on it and was stored in the garage over night for the job to be concluded the next day.
  18. Wife driving her Fusion, I was a passenger enjoying the drive shopping around for different things. Saw this lovely Firebird Formula V8. Made her stop so I could take a pic.
