1. I can't get past the new exterior design language. Well that and the CVT. I'd be inclined to at least try the Edge Sport at the same price point as the others. I'd buy the edge just based on the looks over the other two alone. Even when it isn't in top trim. Then add in that it doesn't have a damn CVT or isn't Hyundai and BINGO. Okay, that was harsh on Hyundai.. I realize they made very good stuff now and compete with vehicles they would only dream of 15 years ago.. it would still be really hard for me to ever buy one. I'm curious what the Edge weighs with the 2.0 and FWD and 2.0 and AWD just for comparisions sake because 4400lbs is heavy. But it is a v6 and two turbos, bigger intercooling and cooling in general with what..22 inch wheels? 21s? I think 20s would be more than enough, especially once you realize they(tires) don't last forever and will have to be replaced..that'll be a pricey bill, for even the cheap junk tires that I wouldn't even consider.
2. While I absolutely 100% agree.. My friend said this to me that kind of opened my eyes to it regardless of fake or not. "it's entertainment" That really is all that it is, just like ANYTHING on the ole television. Whether it is all staged or isn't(we know which it is) then it is like one long ass movie. It is planned out, acted out, and always new stories. <-I never thought of it that way. I always looked at it as a sport, which was being faked and staged(which I hated once I grew out of it). But once I realized it is kind of just like a movie(which we all watch movies) I realized it isn't that bad anymore. I still don't watch it but that is more because I'm not even going to try and spend 3 or so weeks getting into the "rythm" of who's who and what's what.
3. I used to LOVE WWF when I was younger. Every Monday night. I actually stil have one friend who is into it. Its crazy because of how tacky it is when I watch it now.
4. Hahaha touche'.. lol Well.. Apparently this was some kind of gift or something.. So.. This is what Wings would do if GIFTED a GM! Ps. did you see all the tacky $h! they did to that car????? They absolutely ruined it with $50 worth of bull$h!
5. If Wings ever got ahold of a GM.
6. EVERYBODY STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW CARS ARE ALL ELECTRONIC AND DISENGAGING NOW!
7. I completely agree Olds. If everything is going to be electronic might as well save space and just make it a dial. Aaaaand like 'Bong said with his being nice aluminum it probably doesn't have that cheap feeling to it like some actual shifters do. I had some time to think about that...but Scott Evans and Christian Seabaugh over at Motor Trend made me over come that status quo fear. Then I realized how stupid and clumsy an automatic gear shifter really looks like...especially when everything is electrics now-a-days...and yeah...like 'Bong saiys about the aluminium trim... However...as you know...because we feel the same way about it...I dont like push button start...because I like the feel of a V8 engine turning over and roaring to life from the key itself... You realize that even most twist to start keys are effectively push button also right? The computer controls the starting cycle and won't allow you to overstart or understart the car anymore. No no no.. Not that kind.. Not like the kind in my(formerly)'06 C350 where it was a key but you turn it an let it go and cycles. We're talking more like my(also formerly) '03 Mach1 where the engine only turns over while you're actually turning it - old skool like!

Hahaha I SO AGREE! Too bad my escape is push button.. pretty lame. I don't understand how real car guys don't et that feeling of actually turning the key and feeling the engine turn over and fire up, as or short as you turn the key, with no electronics to run their own stupid cycle. And because it feels the best with a V8..which tend to have a little exhaust noise to them..and the engine revs a bit over idle..with a tad of cackle..OoOoOoOooooo!
9. I haven't played one of the COD Zombies sinse World at War(the original Zombie maps). And the zombie levels are the absolute best! A friend and I would play when we got off work together for a couple hours..a couple days a week. But that is long gone now..sadly. Now we have big boy jobs and responsibilities.. I need to try one of the newer Zombie maps. Ohhhh I do remember playing some on Black Ops also. So not just World at War. Man how those two were different, I can't imagine a newer game's version.
10. We all know what's what on that score, man But on a serious note, your pointing out the lack of a coupe and my comments about Cadillac trying to hold the line on prices make the sales numbers of Cadillac sedans even more remarkable. With due props to the outgoing CTS, this is a class-leading platform. Truth is that most stand alone luxury brands are utilizing their name to sell lackluster products in an effort to remain relevant in a down economy. They are also trying to stave off CAFE and equivalent mandates by offering lower end products with weaker, more efficient engines. Benz for instance would be DEAD if they only offered vehicles with the "xx350" and above name. Cadillac could survive selling only Escalades and perhaps only vehicles with 3.6L and above because it has Chevy, Buick, and Opel/Vaux to widdle down its footprint. From an onlooker's perspective, one with a realistic point ... the CTS is selling fine CONSIDERING its hobbled by a line-up that is minus what it offered a year prior (No coupe, no Vseries, no coupe Vseries, no old inventory of discounted Gens 2s) It is now selling a sedan only version with a higher price tag. WOW.. sales went down.. go figure. I could say a similar logical stand point thing about the ATS but I would add that it is selling against a competitive background that is offering about 80% more in their line-up than Cadillac is giving the ATS. I posted it before, but here goes again: 328diesel Sedan 328diesel xDrive Sedan 3series Sedan 3series xDrive Sedan ActiveHybrid 3 3series xDrive Sports Wagon 3series xDrive Sports Wagon 3series diesel xDrive Gran Turismo 3series xDrive Gran Turismo M3 4Series Coupe 4Series xDrive Coupe 4Series Gran Coupe 4Series xDrive Gran Coupe 4Series Convertible 4Series xDrive Convertible M4 vs ATS Sedan ATS-V (Not even here yet) ATS Coupe ATS-V Coupe (Not even here yet) ..ATS offers AWD.. In both coupe and sedan. which will cover the xDrive versions of the coupe and sedan. Also.. Those "Gran Turismo" are absolutely hideious. Nobody wants to see a sexy ATS botched with a competing body style.. But yes, BMW has a massive lineup all the way across the board. I have to believe all those Gran Turismos and Gran Coupes and Wagons only account for a very very small margain and probably don't even cover their own development costs which makes sense the Cadillac hasn't jumped into making all sorts of variants(at least in the US). I do think a convertible coupe would sell because that would be quite pretty and sporty. And a hybrid and diesel. But I have to belive a hybrid is in the works even if it is just because CAFE is forcing it, same with the diesel. But GM does have a small diesel in the Cruze they would update or heck..it'd be awesome if they would use the 2.8 Duramax. Make it a quick diesel, which would be the only one in its class.
11. I completely agree Olds. If everything is going to be electronic might as well save space and just make it a dial. Aaaaand like 'Bong said with his being nice aluminum it probably doesn't have that cheap feeling to it like some actual shifters do. Sadly.. your next truck won't be like that unless you stay with older trucks. Everybody is going more and more electronic with everything they can.
12. This is in response to the interior talk.. Just my opinion of the matter.. I like the look of the Ford's center cousole but the GM and Ram's looks way more useful with the column shifer(even thought I think column shifters look ugly themselves). I think Overall the Ram's interior looks the best and most luxurious. The Denali looks like it uses nice aterials I just cannot stand the shape of the cener stack and left hand side section, very tall and rounded, oversized rectangles.. just not my thing.
13. Except GM doesn't have a 700hp car period, and the Hellcats' power makes for nothing more than good burn outs. I for one applaud BMW on realizing how stupid this power war is. I'd much rather them focus on making their cars lighter and more involving than chasing outright horsepower. The funny thing is the haters complain either way. When their cars aren't tops-in-class in handling/steering, people say they focus on speed too much, and they're too soft. When they try to adjust their philosophy on the next car, people decry them for complaining about the lack of increase of power. It's a lose-lose. Hating on BMW is just the cool thing to do these days, and people will always find a way to jump on the bandwagon somehow. Nevermind that BMW offers manuals in probably more cars than any other maker. Whew..I thought I was the only one who was going to feel this way. Just improve on Power:Weight and it is just as good, if not even more effective because it helps around corners as well. Realistically..what 1% of us could even exract a full 500hp out of a car..let alone north of 600hp. This is one reason I love the GT350/R and Z/28 so much. Both of them could have went to huge power numbers like the GT500 or ZL1(to a slightly lesser extent) but they didn't. Extracting a full 500-550hp out of a large pony car is about all you can realistically ask for. More than that and the power won't be put to the ground efectively..look GT500 and Hellcat or even the exotic SLS AMG(not Black Series).
14. Not to correct you...but... a couple friends and I were at our local GM dealer(one of them wanted to get an idea of new truck prices..he was kindof in sticker shock) and I actually think 90% were either the 5.3 or 4.3.. But I understand what you're saying! lol "My" Buick/GMC dealer must move a lot of Denalis. And yes yes.. I know the "truck" LT1 is technically coded an L86, but it is the same engine in a different tune. Yeah there were only a couple Denalis on the lot.. but in all fairness we were looking something for him that was a little more basic so we weren't looking at everything let a lone everything that looked awesome.. but I do always like to look at price tags of the fully loaded ones.. Saw a 62k High Country..jeez. But that dark brown leather interior did look extremely fancy, especially for a truck. Random. But when we were looking the window sticker was kind of confusing actually. On the lower left hand side under "mechanical" a lot of them had the 4.3 listed. BUT on the upper right(outside fo the "box") they had the 5.3 listed. That's because the 5.3 is an option. That said, if he just needs something basic and doesn't need to tow a heavy trailer, the 4.3 is a fine engine. It has roughly the same power characteristics of the 5.3 from about 12 years ago. The instinct when buying a truck is always to go for the biggest baddest engine you can afford, but these new V6es from GM and Ford and Chrysler are plenty good enough for most folks who just want to haul mulch home from Home Depot. I really like the High Country, but it is very much Chevy copying Ford's King Ranch. My Mom drives a 2007 King Ranch with that dark brown interior. It was just confusing because where it listed the 5.3 and 4.3. I would have expected the locations to be switched if it was an option.. Well my friend is kind of one of those old school guys. His dad runs a race engine shop and..you kind of get the drift of why he would'nt drive a half ton without a v8..Yes he is a very practical guy. He's been driving an S10 through college and just recently graduated. Yes the new V6es really are quite impressive. To get my in one they would need more of the low end punch like either the EcoBoosts or a V8 has.. Which is one reason I think the 2.7 is one fantastic little motor that will impress more and more as they hit the streets. Yeah it may be copying the idea of Ford's King Ranch but isn't that the way of the automotive world? If something sells, everybodys gotta get in on that! (see small CUVs lol) Shiiiiiiiiit... I absolutely love that dark brown leather.. And I didn't realize they were making King Ranches back in '09. Is the towards the beginning of them? Oops, way off topic here.. Uhhh.. Ram. Trucks.

17. Welcome to Cheers 'n Gears! I'd love to hear how your truck sounds. That 5.0 and your modifications..
18. I saw a brand new Z06 at my local Chevy/GMC/Buick dealer. Holy god. My friend described it best, " It looks like a toy race car. " That thing looked so tough in person. Those back tires, how in the world does it break those 335's loose?!? From behind they look like they cover about half the cars' width(1/4 on each side). The clear center spoiler area, carbon discs(also first time seeing those in person), carbon splitter.. Sexy Sexy car. I wanted to take a picture of her but it was in between two other cars(on the lot not showroom surprisingly enough) and it didn't deserve to share a picture with anything else. lol
19. Yup. the overwhelmingness of it all sometimes I'll just do nothing about it.. Then realize..F! and then do work.. I do pretty good work under pressure.
20. It is some pretty cool racing. Very different, but good IMO. The strategy is very different from most car racing as they have to do a full car swap around halfway. With that being said, that is one of the cool stragdgy points as some will try and run full out and swap cars before halfway and take it a little easier on th second half and others will flip that strategy. F1 cars sound terrible in 2015. Those 4cyl cars may be engineering marvels but they don't sound like they once did with those tiny V8s reving to 20,000rpm. Now THOSE had a special feel and sound to them.
21. Interesting.. Any idea what the previous gen was when they offered "just" the AMG and then the AMG S? (price difference) I'll have to google it because I thought the "S" was a pricey package. EDIT: Found the difference. "Ensuring a lifetime of punishment for the all-wheel-drive system is AMG’s twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8. Engine-management tweaks bump the base car’s output from last year’s 518 horsepower and 516 lb-ft to 550 and 531. Mercedes previously offered a $7300 AMG Performance package on the E63 for power brokers. That’s now called the AMG S model, which cranks up the boost from 13.0 psi to 14.5 to yield the previously mentioned 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft. A limited-slip differential is standard on the S (it’s optional on the E63 AMG), where it was deemed necessary to handle the additional twist. In a masterstroke of customer understanding, Mercedes will offer E63 wagon buyers—i.e., enlightened lunatics—only the higher-output tune."
22. SO MUCH RACING ON TV TODAY! F1 Continental Tire Sportscar Series Pirelli World Challenge NHRA Top Fuel Replay of the Tudor United Sportscar race at Watkins Glen NASCAR race tonight at Daytona under the lights. Oh, and my Redbirds are playing right now. But it's 80 degrees and sunny outside..
23. an 8.5% difference is nothing, especially when the Benz buyer initially paid 40% more for their car... What makes it worse is that U had SUCH A HUGE ISSUE with the price of the Cadillac, but are sitting there defending the more expensive Benz. What U seem to miss also is that in YEAR 2.. the Benz depreciation starts to accelerate even more so. Well, considering it was hypothetical anyway, just wanted to point out you were wrong. And really, I don't think expressing surprise with the word 'yikes' is having "SUCH A HUGE ISSUE" , but I will try and remember all this and just how sensitive some GM fans can be, in the future. I'm still not actually wrong when viewing from YOUR need for value pricing in luxury. U go YIKES on an $84,000 CTS-V, but have no issue with a $102,000 E63AMG S. On top of that, if the vehicles are already more expensive then out of pocket costs is only exacerbated when the Benz depreciation numbers comes into focus. And it gets worse. The Benz depreciation will actually speed up more so than the Cadillac by year 2.. then 3. At a point.. it might be possible to find that more expensive E63 on the used car lot for the same price as the CTSVSeries, or damn close. Pleeeeease. Having lots of money doesn't mean that U just have fun throwing it in the fireplace. First, I didn't realize till just now when I read E63AMG S that the "S" is the only one offered this year. They used to have a regular AMG and an "S" model. That could be some of the price gap. Obviously not almost 20k difference. Second. I completely agree with you Casa. Just because you have money doesn't mean you want to waste it..on maintenance of all things.
24. coupla points Dumbass... U are are attempting to justify your lunacy by bringing up the AWD system in the $102,000 E63AMG as a good reason as to why the starting at $84,000 CTS-V is worthy of a "gasp?" So AWD is worth $18,000??? Can someone get me the troll patrol cause this MOFO is toast? Coupla more points: Benz has 577HP and torque to 590 lb-ft Cadillac has 640HP and torque to 630 lb-ft Benz has AWD yes, but also has to push around 4,674 lbs. The VSeries is at 4,145 lbs, a 529lb deficit. Considering the ATS-V is pulling in 12.0/122mph 1/4 and 3.7sec "0-who cares" times I'm thinking that the CTS-V is gonna beat the E63's numbers by a few ticks. I predict the CTS-V to pull a 3.2-3.3 0-60 without AWD, and a mid 11 @125, beating the E63's 11.6 sec @ 121.8 mph and this BS depreciation $h! U came up with is hilarious. A $73K 2014 CTS-V Coupe with almost all the trimmings is now worth, with 12K on the odo, $54K.. a drop of $19K. A $102K Benz E63AMG Swith almost all the trimmings is now worth, with 12K on the odo, $80,500.. a drop of $21,500 Research first Bitch "Research first Bitch" According to the Dyno Pull of the V.. how much is it cranking??? The V is SAE rated isn't it? so it should be spot on 650, right?
