I won't dispute any of that, at all. I was literally just talking base price.. Either way, I'd still buy the Buick over the V-Dub hands down. Both are chick cars..and both are about 5k more than I think they should be. I could not imagine spending 43k on a small convertible. But this is coming from somebody who doesn't like convertibles much...at all...
-
First Go back and read the part where the $31,995 is before destination of $865 pushing the price to $32,860. No Back-Up Camera, 17 inch wheels, a 5 Inch Nav unit that looks like some one plastered a 3 year old's Leap Frog on the dash.. Come on. I then love the part if U click on the Asterisk That isn't exactly how pricing works.. You can't just say it starts at a different price..when you add matching options to it. I understand there are varying options on their starting prices but that just gives the customer more options. Yes, most will probably put the options on like the new Buick(which is probabl why it is priced the way it is) but that doesn't mean that the EOS doesn't start at $32,860(with destination) compared to $33,990.
-
WELCOME! Always good to see new "faces"!
-
Actually its not priced higher than the defunct Eos. In fact, and I don't think anyone bothered to check, the PONTIAC G6 Convertible waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2007-2009 was coming in at GT 2dr Convertible $29,150/$32,300. I just went to VW's website and the EOS starts at $31,995. I won't get into standard equipment but it does indeed start at $31,995. I agree with the 20's thing.. People don't know what they are getting themselves into with rims that large. A cheap, junk tire will still run north of $200 on 20's. Or I should say, something I wouldn't put on my own vehicle or significant other's vehicle.
-
That's a sharp little car. Not for me, but still sharp looking. 200hp/206tq sounds like it could be a little bit of fun for a smaller vehicle. What size vehicle is this..? I assumed it was smaller but there really isn't anything on size. Is it more like a conv. Verano, sized?
-
-
As far as I know Mercedes is the only one to do it now. I think it looks SUPER sharp. I honestly didn't know that it was a thing already.. Not sure why it went away. Only thing I could think of was regulations for whatever reason.

I agree that they are overpaid.. I was just curious if one shuns the NFL and other professional sports does the same person not watch TV or movies(for critisizing the pay)? At least at the sports level of things the human body is physically getting beat up day in and day out(like Olds said). The percentage of players once retired that are in constant pain (not just football) is incredible. Knees, backs, shoulders..any joint.. I'm not saying they deserve $50,000,000 contracts.. but I can see where they would get paid a very good amount to put their body through that, their life is in the spot light whether they want it or not, same with their family, constant traveling(never seeing said family), etc. And most professional players have no real sense of job security. Most players never make it to a second contract. At the very least at least professional athletes are not physically lazy. Everybody has their niche and some is physical movement and others is studying microbiology and others is brain surgery... I'm also on the side that all politicials should take a 50% pay cut and see who really wants to make this country a better place rather than just reap the benefits... But that's for another day.

How do you feel about TV/Movie actors/actresses?

http://www.environmentalhealthnews.org/ehs/newscience/2013/11/diesel-lung-cancer-deaths/ From the link above: An estimated 6 percent of lung cancer deaths in the United States and the United Kingdom – 11,000 deaths per year – may be due to diesel exhaust, according to a new study. Emission standards for diesel engines have become more stringent in recent years, but their exhaust still plays a significant role in lung cancer deaths among truckers, miners and railroad workers, the authors wrote. In addition, diesel exhaust still poses a major cancer threat for people living in dense cities or near highways, they said. Thanx CCAP for the link over at MT... Take that as how you will...but...pollution is pollution... You have to start somewhere to clean up the planet... No probby! I actually meant ot post it here..somewhere.. but it honestly gets kind of confusing with all of the different VW threads started at this point. I thought the study was very good to read about. 6% while a small number(as expected, really) still adds up. 11,000 deaths per year between the US and UK is quite significant and the reason for the regulations. Yes, diesels are MUCH cleaner than they were in the past.. but there are also A LOT more of them on the roads too.

The above number's are retail sales. I knew what you meant but they sell them(whether it's miitary or not) as fast as they build them and at 60-70%(retail) of those tuned by AMG, which has a starting price of around 140k.. they're making a killing off of them. I mean the roots of it are nearly centuries old at this point so that's been paid for decades ago. "Americans are most familiar with G-Wagens as Mercedes-Benz products, but for some time, models sold in Austria – and to the Austrian army, especially – were badged as Puchs in deference to Steyr-Daimler-Puch’s heritage. Additionally, G-Wagens have been built under license in France and badged as both the Peugeot P4 and Panhard P4." http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/numerical-breakdown-the-2013-mercedes-benz-g-class-177361/ It's a pretty interesting little article.

Putting out UP TO 40 times the pollution. That probably means under full throttle acceleration. But, I do agree that the fines should be substancial.

VW News: Volkswagen Issues A Stop-Sale On TDI Models, CEO Apologizes
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
The same reason some manufacturers got busted for lying about FE-their marketing folks wrote checks the engineers couldn't cash. My truck uses urea. Still gets awesome FE. Urea usage is pretty modest too I don't think it was as much of a lie as it was their internal testing procedure was just wrong, for all of them that had to make adjustments. But that's just my opinion. Ford took liberties when they were establishing mpg ratings with several hybrids that shared the same exact powertrains, batteries, etc. That much is clear. But it’s not the first time automakers do this kind of thing when you share so much on a vehicle. It turned out that the much higher sensitivity in mpg based on varied use, combined with the taller C-Max profile, simply over-emphasized the delta, and Ford re-configured. Plain and simple. High mpg is most sensitive to aerodynamics than most other factors. Weight is barely even a factor at 65mpg, and we know this because when we add several passengers, are mileage barely changes. But throw a roof rack on your SUV, and your will suddenly see a 3-4mpg drop just from that, as I did with my Explorer many times. And Ford was clearly the target here, in this VW thread, even though our crafty Anti-Fordite did not say the four letter word….and I doubt there is one person here that would deny that. Back to VW. Yeah, Ouch. Criminal prosecution is next up they say. Of course, as mentioned, that is nothing compared to over-reaching with mpg’s…..for ‘some brands.’ LOL Absolutely aero plays a MAJOR factor in fuel mileage. Just take a glance at an instant mpg readout going with and against the wind to find that out. I also didn't realize THAT was their error in measuring/testing the ratings on those cars and it is good to know. Thanks for the insight. Aaaaaaaaand somebody is already gone. http://jalopnik.com/vw-ceo-martin-wintekorn-being-replaced-by-matthias-muel-1732285443- 23 replies

I don't think there is necessarily a problem with diesel itself as much as how it was used. The people that should be driving a diesel are the ones who commute 80+ miles per day(40 each way). It really is the best situation for them. Phenominal mileage. With the prices relatively similar to mid grade or premium they can recoupe the initial investment much quicker as well. I defniitely think there is a time and place for diesel cars. They just need to be done correctly like everybody else.

Don't jump the gun.. http://www.environmentalhealthnews.org/ehs/newscience/2013/11/diesel-lung-cancer-deaths/ "An estimated 6 percent of lung cancer deaths in the United States and the United Kingdom – 11,000 deaths per year – may be due to diesel exhaust, according to a new study. In addition, people in urban areas face a lifetime risk of lung cancer that is 10 times higher than the acceptable risk used in U.S. health standards, according to the study. An estimated 21 per 10,000 people exposed to the amount of diesel exhaust commonly found near U.S. highways would be at risk of dying of lung cancer over their lifetime. That compares to the risk of one death per 100,000 people that is used to set air-quality standards."- 23 replies

I actually have a friend with a '13 or '14 Jetta TDI(6 spd) that I'll have to ask some questions to. We don't have emissions testing where I live though so he might not have any answers when it comes to this stuff. Once the warranty was up he was going to pull all of the emissions stuff anyway(but what'd the point if it isn't doing anting anyway? right?? lol)

That is thing though...you also speculated that some of those people are actually still employed there... BTW...you bought a Fprd product in 2013, like myself...in the 1970s...Ford killed many also...to say that they learned their lesson from gas tanks and such...the Panther cars had the same problem as the Pinto cars in the late 1990s...yet...you still bought a Ford... OK...That was the 1970s...and the 1990s... Toyota...Unintended accelration. Honda...Takata...airbags. Audi...unintended acceleration VW and Audi...circumventing software that masks air pollution...sure its serious... So...now that we;ve eliminated 6 car companies...including GM and Ford just to be fair..because to say ts ONLY GM its ludicrous..maybe now if you tell me your next car will come from Chrysler...oops...they too have had corruption...OK...7 car companies... To say that your next vehicle will come from Volvo, Mazda and Peugeot..Ill buy into your logic and thought process...but if not...Im sorry...but your logic is a no go with me... You are correct but I believe in the Article the way it was worded made it sound like they are still working there as the employees back in the 70's I have absolutely no clue about. I have said it before about the GM situation that..time heals all wounds. And I believe it with this as well. Well, ford has airbag issues as well, I believe. I think I have a current outstanding recall for an air bag. It just isn't one of the takata ones. With those other problems was their proof that said employees KNEW about the problem while continuing to use the part in the cars? Or was it just a big fck up that was discovered later? Honestly, I do not know that answer. But that is my gripe. They knew and possibly still have a job there. Yeah...Ford has an airbag recall....My Fusion has it too.. Is yours about some sort of module being defective and in case of a crash...the airbag might not deploy? Maybe they are working at GM still... This is why I said...instead of "boycotting" GM, why dont we actually fight to get these guys FIRED from GM...and put on trial? Not only GM employees ...Delco employess too...because I remember even some engineers at Delco KNEW that the part would fail...told their bosses, but their bosses did nothing also...because contract is too big to deny...everybody it seems was thinking in terms of money... EVERYBODY HAS A MORAL OBLIGATION. The excuse of...I was just doing my job...should not fly in a circumstance like this one. We..have turned into a society of zombies only looking at money and material objects... I think that's probably the recall. I'm not sure of the top of my head though. We shouldn't have to do anything to get them fired. GM should have taken it upon themselves to fire them. What reason is there to keep any individual that had ties to either covering it up or participating in any way? Or why buy from a company who is going to make me work to get some POSes fired? They should have the moral integrity to do it themselves and if they morally don't think they should be fired, then I morally will not buy what they believe in. Like I said, there are too many other automotive companies out there to not look at. Agreed with Delco employees as well. The ones who were involved or KNEW..should be canned. They had an opportunity at some point to do SOMETHING. Now, if these individuals did try to do something about it..it is another story, like the Delco employees who did try to do something about it and told their superiors shouldn't be fired. The ones who didn't do anything because of the contract, should be fired. They knowingly put a defective part in a car(millions, I believe).

Outstanding assessment and I wish the news would cover these cases in this manner. The sensationalism to get ratings has made most reporters have no honor nor any integrity. Agreed to both quoted posts. It just sucks what these news outlets will go to get ratings. How they can twist nearly any story to us and we will jump on the bandwagon because the only bit of information we know is from them, which SHOULD be reliable.

Dont divulge any info please... Im waiting for the family to go to bed before I watch it...I recorded it. Romo injured.... Not even that stuff though. It was just the sloppiest game I've ever watched professionals play. Both teams. Nobody deserved a win.. Dez is still up in the air. I wouldn't be too worried about 10-12 weeks quite yet. Now Romo may have that time table. It all depends if they have to put a metal plate in there or not, I think.

This is one of the worst games I've ever watched. (Dallas at Philly). I've seen little league football games that are better than this game.
