That sounds like a recipe for lots of lag. Also, it's a truck engine and most reviews speak of how unrefined and lack of smoothness it has for a Cadillac.

Did you just unintentionally say Mercedes and BMW aren't reliable, by not listing them? There's nothing "bad" about the Cadillac's outside of their brand image. I thought this was just for like first 250 of each. "Just a couple of days ago, when the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing were revealed, Cadillac announced it would start taking reservations for the cars. More specifically, it was taking reservations for the first 250 of each model. They went quite quickly, in just minutes according to a Cadillac representative. Apparently the more powerful CT5-V Blackwing sold out first, closely followed by the CT4-V version. But don't worry, because more of each are on the way. The Cadillac representative said that anyone wanting to reserve one who missed the initial 500 will be put on a wait list and contacted by their local dealer as more orders are available. Not only that, but the additional order slots should open up before production and initial deliveries of the cars begins this summer. I think the point is that you're not getting comparable performance because you can't get a C43 for that money. You'd still get a turbo 4 for 50k. While I agree it will continue to outsell them, the sample size is less than a year thus far. This isn't a question of sale. The point is you get more at Cadillac, regardless of what actually sells.

Just for the record, I believe there is only one person who is actually "anti". The rest of "us" are more skeptical but are certainly not against it. We just want things to be more comparable and comparably priced. I certainly plan to own an electric vehicle one day but I'm not paying 15k or more for one vs the comparable ICE vehicle, which is(from what I believe, I don't want to put words in his mouth, what Balthy's biggest issue as well. The prices just are not comparable and you'll never recoup the savings when you spend so much more up front. -
First, as @Drew Dowdellhas stated, it's not quite as large or roomy as those vehicles. Also, if they're built here and not imported, there are less costs associated allowing them to charge less. I know not 40k less, but less, is less.

"In 2019, renewable energy generated 8% of the electricity generated in Illinois, and in-state renewable electricity has almost tripled since 2010.106 Wind is the primary renewable resource used for electric power generation in the state. In 2019, wind provided 97% of the state's renewable energy generation, and Illinois was sixth in the nation in utility-scale (1 megawatt or greater) wind capacity, with about 5,200 megawatts online. The state has considerable additional wind power potential, and about 1,200 megawatts of capacity is either under construction or in advanced development. Biomass, along with hydroelectric power and solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities, together account for less than 0.4% of Illinois' electricity generation. More than half of this is provided by biomass, mainly from municipal landfills. The state has many rivers, but its relatively level terrain limits hydroelectric potential, and 0.1% of the state's electricity generation is provided by hydroelectric power. Solar power provides less than 0.1% of the state's net generation. However, solar PV use has grown rapidly in the last decade. Almost three-fourth of the state's solar PV generation in 2019 came from customer-sited, small-scale generation, mostly rooftop solar panels. Illinois generates more electricity from nuclear energy than any other state, accounting for one-eighth of the nation's total nuclear power generation. In 2019, 54% of electricity net generation in Illinois was produced by the state's 6 nuclear power plants with their 11 reactors. The nuclear plants are all ranked among the 10 largest power plants in the state by electricity generation, and 5 of the 6 are among the 10 largest by capacity. Because of economic issues in the electricity market, two nuclear power stations, the Clinton and Quad Cities nuclear plants, were scheduled to close in 2017 and 2018, but the Illinois legislature in late 2016 approved Zero Emissions Credits for nuclear generators to keep the stations operating for another decade. The ZEC program rewards utilities for producing carbon-free electricity." -

Agree, 100%. Especially after they already had all of the engineering and tooling paid for. They should have kept it around just because they already paid to make the dang thing, get something out of your investment.

There's no function to just ignore you two's cat fights. You're both enjoyable to communicate with. It's just not enjoyable to read past the pissing match. Regardless of that ^, I completely agree that these are "tweener" cars that are targeted at giving the consumer more for the money and we certainly win when you look at the CT5 Blackwing vs the M5/E63's prices. Literally the only thing missing is AWD.

Yeah, they'll find those solar jobs right next to the oil fields they're currently working in. They won't have to pack up and hopefully find these solar jobs elsewhere in the country. Interviewer: What relevant work experience do you have? Person looking for work: I worked in the oil fields. Interviewer: How is that relevant? Person looking for work: I was told we still have jobs. A guy on the internet told me. -

That's also as slow as dirt.. Tough comparison. I also can't imagine keeping that and if they did, I would not like that at all. They've been doing this for decades already. You know what differences there are and not there. -

One main thing here though, the Hummer is real and if that wasn't 100% production ready(that was shown) it is very close. The Cybertruck was miles from being street legal when it was showed so we don't even know what a Cybertruck really is yet. -

There is nothing stopping them from adding a sedan or larger SUV. I know they're not in the sedan/car market anymore but if the market shifts again, these EV skateboard platforms can just change the body to a car. We don't even know what a "real" Cybertruck will look like because everybody with a brain knows what they showed off will need drastic changes to even be street legal. -

Every vehicle I've had has at least 10-15% loss in winter. I guess I wouldn't know about my first three vehicles as I didn't track their MPG at all and the C350 I wasn't consistent but it did give a fairly accurate readout. I started tracking religiously with my Mach 1. Check out the averages by month on my "dashboard". Zero possibility I would take this over a GV80 or Aviator and the GV80 starts at $48,900 with AWD but I wouldn't prefer a 2.5T in a vehicle of this size. The 3.5T starts at $59,150. And that link didn't take me to a dealer website, it was just a dealer locator. -

Considering the XT6 starts at $52,695, Aviator starts at $51,100, give me the Aviator all day. 3.0TT over that mediocre 3.6. The Grand Cherokee L supposedly is going to start right around 40k, which seems low but we also only have seen high end models. I certainly want to see this color, Wilder Metallic, on a vehicle and not just the "build and price". I can't seem to find a "real" picture of one.
