Are these underpowered then, because they weigh more? https://www.motor1.com/reviews/242383/compare-chevy-camaro-ford-mustang/ https://www.motortrend.com/cars/ford/mustang/2019/2019-chevrolet-camaro-ss-vs-2019-ford-mustang-gt-convertible-comparison-test/

Ehhhh that's not such a significant difference it would be something to complain about. Also, this is what I'm seeing elsewhere for a 2020 RC-F. " The 5.0-liter V-8 carries over essentially unchanged from the 2019 model, but now it makes 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, which is 5 horsepower and 6 lb-ft more than before."

467hp in a 4000lb car is underpowered? It weights ~130-180lb more than a Mustang GT and Camaro SS and I don't think people say those are underpowered.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
That is not what the initial conversation was about. Obviously, we know that already(supposedly but it's yet to be proven). It was about the costs of the engine(batteries) advancing technologically and giving us greater efficiency. Battery A from 2000 costs $10 to fill-up and drive 200 miles. Battery B from 2025 costs $10 to fill-up and drive 200 miles. Engine A from 2000 averages 24mpg Engine B from 2020 averages 33mpg Battery capacities are improving and their density is improving but cost per kw to charge will be the same. I literally already showed you Chevy 5.3's gain in efficiency over the last 20 years. I haven't once compared a turbo 6 to a V8. Everything I've showed you have been n/a engines, including the compact cars. I've kept the comparison as close as possible. In fact, I don't even know why you're comparing to turbo engines. I would actually like for you to prove to me that the internal combustion engine has NOT gotten more efficient over the last 20-70 years. You choose the range. -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

But does the new battery technology yield you cheaper "fillups"? or a further distance traveled on the same price to "fillup"? I know EVs cost less to drive from A to B but the point was insinuated consumer savings based on improved technological advances. -
Thanks! It was Monday the 21st, actually. Boy-o-boy, how time flies.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

If you genuinely believe the same technology that's made truck engines more efficient WAS NOT also used to make every other vehicle's engine as efficient as they are, I truly believe you're delusional. Also, how is that showing MPG matches the 21 year old truck? Don't forget how much physically larger they are. It's a much larger chunk of metal busting through air. -

This is all I was commenting on. Which, we have had fuel savings passed on to us. -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

Considering fuel prices are virtually identical to 1950 but vehicles are roughly twice as efficient, id say you're saving money. 1950 fuel price: $0.27 = $2.97 in 2020 1950 average fuel economy of 15mpg 2019 average fuel economy: 25.2mpg. Same money out of pocket, quite a bit further traveled. Fun fact, fuel economy dropped nearly year from 1950 until the lowest point in the early 70's when it's been creeping up ever since. https://www.energy.gov/eere/vehicles/fact-741-august-20-2012-historical-gasoline-prices-1929-2011 https://www.eia.gov/totalenergy/data/annual/showtext.php?t=pTB0208 https://www.epa.gov/automotive-trends/highlights-automotive-trends-report#:~:text=Figure ES-1.&text=Fuel economy increased by 0.2,0.4 mpg to 25.5 mpg. -

There have been, engines have become waaaay more efficient so your savings is less fuel used. -
Yes, but unlike some other electric mowers, these batteries can come out and be used for their other tools. Yes, the mower itself can be plugged in so you don't have to take them all out to charge.
-
@David, just like we were talking about the other day, EGO just dropped information on a battery powered zero turn. The best part about it, imo, the batteries can also be used in the hand tools! It holds up to 6 batteries, comes with 4. https://egopowerplus.com/worththewait

Hey, I plan to buy electric yard tools so I'll decrease my little bubble!! Hahaha Oh yeah, this is the old/former brewery that's caddy corner to my place.
-
I'm not 100% sure what it was originally. I've spoken with a few neighbors and I think it may originally be a manufacturing building for Basler Electric(coincidently, my dad is an engineer for Basler at a location built in the 90's that's on a 10 acre lot - see link). The one neighbor told me it was one of their few small locations around town and eventually consolidated into the one large building. I do know that when my wife and I were in elementary school/middle school it was a dance studio. The owners divorced and the husband kept the building and he was doing furniture repair out of it when we bought it. https://www.bnd.com/news/local/community/highland-news-leader/article148323139.html https://www.basler.com/About-Us/Company-History The more I look into it, the less I think it was a Basler building. I need to try and stop by my town hall and see if they have any information on it. We are caddy corner to an old brewery that hasn't been in commission since, at lease, we've lived here(1993). There is a small elevator(not human-sized) in the back and there is also a pneumatic lift out front. I believe it was to bridge the gap between a truck and the entryway(garage door), still a little confused about that. The single story part was built in 1949 and the second story portion was added on in 1951. The picture was from before we bought the place, via googlemaps. I may try and grab some pictures from my phone of the place.

Sorry, I meant while I mow. I accidently blow grass on the street and want the leaf blower for easier cleanup. I definitely do not try and blow grass onto the street! Plus, its typically illegal to do so but it is never enforced.
-
Yeah, I don't really plan to blow leaves with it. I mostly want it to clean off the sidewalks and if/when I blow grass on the street...I want to be able to clean that up a lot easier. I just mulch leaves. I don't let the yard get suuuuper covered and it never gets too bad. I cut the grass just last week to get what I think was the last bit of leaves.
-
Oh absolutely, and mine isn't super overgrown as it is as I've done about what I can, reasonably, with my garbage curved shaft Stihl. How is the 530cfm? I've only ever used a leaf blower a few times at my parents to blow out the garage and I'm not sure what is considered , "not enough", "enough", and "overkill". Also, do you know if there are stripe kits available for EGO mowers? That's an accessory I'd like to invest in as well.

I think that's what I'm going to end up doing with the Echo one I bought already. A real god edge only needs to be done once a year and maintained the rest of the year.
-
I've never looked into this because there are plenty of universal attachments out there but I've never looked into which brands accept those or not. I recently bought a dedicated Echo edger for $75 off the good ole Marketplace. I have a lot I want to start edging this coming year in addition to the regular sidewalks. It's in pretty rough condition along the red line beyond the sidewalk area. If I like it a lot, I'll keep it and use it. If it seems to be a pain and not really worth it, I should be able to still sell it for what I paid for it as it's a ~$250 unit. Also, this picture has to be a couple years old as the dumpster is still out there.

EGO switched from Home Depot to Lowes. I think it was the end of summer, or so, they announced it. When looking at the tools on EGO's website, they only list Amazon, Lowes, and Ace Hardware. The wording on this is very confusing because I believe this is JUST the attachment for that price. I believe that's stating the power head, battery, and charger are not included. I say this because $130 for the powerhead and attachment(without battery and charger) is still damn cheap. "EGO Power+ ME0800 8-Inch Edger Attachment & Power Head Battery & Charger Not Included" This is $143 alone: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072Q646G1

I would like to at least buy the leaf blower and string trimmer together but really doubt I would buy the mower at the same time, just because I don't really need it and it's tough to justify the cost at this point.
-
That's what's almost "unfortunate" because they do appear to make very good stuff, top of the line electric products, but they're priced that way, too. I also really like they have the "power head" system but it's really expensive, $400 to get it with one attachment.
