  1. I hear ya on the long list. So many look good on paper or get reviews in the media like they are the best thing since sliced bread and then you get in them and are like WTF? Opposite is true sometimes too.
  2. This disappoints me as i really had this on the list for possible purchase in 3 or 4 years.
  3. I am waiting for them to get back to me to do brake work on the Beetle. i made them put that in writing before I signed the paperwork. I will get them o fix this to, even if they have to redo the tint.
  4. I know, it annoys me big time.

  6. I think the entire previous gen A5/S5 lineup looked better in and out. Here is the Sportback we never got
  7. I could see myself moving to a Scirocco in a few years if the Beetle treats me well. They just need to sell it here! An I would love it with AWD,
  8. Variety is the spice of life as they say.
  9. Thank you sir. They will serve their purposes well I think. Gotta sell the Silverado and the 2WD Dakota, which I am ok with that since my 4WD Dakota is staying with me. I have a multi-cultural driveway now haha.
  10. So, I bought a German and a Japanese this weekend. I want to get a week out in these before i write reviews though, but here is a pic.
  11. That is a good point. I just bought a new car myself this weekend and they put one of thse stupid used car stickers, with tape all he way around, on my tinted passenger window and I am trying to figure the best way to get it off without ruining the tint. off-topic I know lol.
  12. Thanks guys! He is being ultra picky about where he gets his tint haha. And i agree, The A5 and ATS coupe are easily the best looking in their segment.
  13. He wanted AWD and price was a huge factor. If I remember right he got this for 31 or 32k and they actually gave him more than payoff on his Audi. I LOVE the V. In my humble opinion this is best in class.
  14. oh, that is great. The off-road package is awfully tempting even with the CVT and then in a year or so get a nice Renegade Trailhawk to compliment it. Of course my FD1 never got me stuck either, even the basic AWD system is damned nice with the ability to lock and it still has BLDs even if they aren't as strong as the trail package ones. I still think it is funny some of the mags make a big deal out of the Cherokee and Renegade having BLDs, axle disconnect for FE, and available low range gears when the Patriot had all this way back in 07.
  15. He is getting ready to tint the windows, once he does that will have to dig out the DSLR and find some nice photo shoot locations
  16. How is his fuel economy with the offroad package?
  17. Yes, they are really fantastic either way.
  18. So, my brother finally found the perfect replacement for his A5 and we went and picked it up last night. it is a completely loaded 2015 ATS Premium with the performance package and every option available. Only 4900 miles. It has the 3.6 V6/6 speed auto, AWD, full suite of safety tech and luxury features. has the full performance package too, complete with Brembo brakes and Magnetic ride control. Anyway, here we go. My brother picked me up when i got off work at 6. We got in the Audi and headed off for one last journey. I just took the passenger seat this time since i need to rest some and I figured since it is his car \he should have the last hurrah. Of course there had to be a big storm with downpours on the interstate to put the Quattro system through it's paces for him one last time. And usual, it performed flawlessly. After roughly 4.5 hours of traveling we finally pull up to the car. The salesman was kind enough to drive the car from Indiana to Florence Kentucky to take at least some of the drive off. I am sure it didn't hurt he was getting in one last sale on the last day of the month. As we pull into the lot, the ATS is shining bright under the lights in the darkness. The color I believe, is called Adriatic Blue, maybe Atlantic not sure. Anyway, under the lights under certain angles the color takes on a beautiful gray hue, other times it is the beautiful dark blue, oddly reminiscent of the ocean blue of the Audi A5 now parked beside it. It has a gorgeous set of 18 inch machine honed rims, the top rims available on the AS coupe. With cuts and shapes, they seem to almost take on a 4th dimension somehow if the light hits them just perfectly. A slow walk-around reviews some amazing detailing. From the shapes and size of details on the surface, to the twin exhaust tips located nearly center with the angle shaped backup lamp separating them. The impressive front and rear lighting and unique lighted door handles that prove a really nice touch. Easily as beautiful of the elegant shapes of the A5, but totally different at the same time. As the salesman acquainted my brother some of he many features I couldn't help but stare. Cadillac nailed this design out of the ballpark, that is all there is to that. Finally the paperwork is done and it is time to head out. He takes the first drive of course and he out o find some dinner. We end up at an IHOP at midnight. THe service left much to be desired, but the food was good and I am always a sucker for a good Philly Cheesesteak. As we finish up and he pays for the meal (my price for going that night), we out and hit the interstate. As I sit in the passenger seat, I have to fiddle with some of the controls. First, I LOVE these seats. Perfect shape, power options, and even the passenger seat lumbar supper, extending thigh support, and inflatable bolsters. I found the Audi seats seriously lacking on the way down (the passenger seat lacks the lumbar support of the driver's side and it shows), but had no problem finding long distance comfort in the ATS seats. The front area was a bit roomier than the A5s, the rear seemed roughly the same. The interior is finished beautifully with nice areas of stitching on the center console, dash, seats, etc. I find the touch controls below the large screen decently easy to use and they respond well. Part of me wishes for old fashioned knobs though. The 2 tone interior with piano black accents and interior "mood lighting" is a very handsome and nice place to be. Cue is certainly not the monster it is made out to be, though if I am not mistaken there was a big upgrade in 2015 so that may be why. The menus and touch capability seems pretty standard fare for modern infotainment systems. We talk about a number of the features I never even knew existed. Automatic defrosters front and rear fr=or example that automatically kick in without messing with whatever you are using at the time, ie AC. hat is just an example of course. Finally as we near the halfway point it is my turn to spend a couple hours behind the wheel. We get to the fuel station, now at roughly 3AM, I get an energy drink and a diet Mountain Dew and take the driver's seat. With the power tilt and telescoping wheel and the easy to get comfortable in seat, i was ready to go. As I get ready to hit the interstate I give the left shift paddle a tug, the D in the dash turns into a 2, I slow down and pull it back into 1. He transmission responding instantly to my shift requests in a quick manner. Pedal down and the 3.6 easily pulls me into the seat and I am to speed in no time. Now on the interstate I I old the right shift paddle in for a few seconds to put it back into auto. The suspension is taut, but well controlled. The ride is firm, especially over expansion joins. I switch modes from sport to tour and the ride gets better, though the A5 had a slight advantage here. The ride is never punishing though. This car does not like speed limits. The speed creeps up to 10 or even 15 MPH over the limit without even breaking a sweat. I should have probably tried the adaptive cruise control, but decided to just stay connected to the car. Steering is nicely weighted and even with the AWD equipment of front provides decent feedback. The hud is a nice touch that helps keep your eyes on the road, though i do wish the display was larger as it was in my old GTP. Being late at night, I appreciated the bright adaptive headlights that moved to follow curves. The drive was pleasant to say the least. The car is a great cruiser and a great handler. Overall I think Caddy has knocked this one out of the ballpark. It isn't perfect, but has more character than almost anything out there. I look forward to more chances to get behind the wheel and to learn more about the myriad of features this coupe has. Way to go Cadillac, way to go!
  19. The Jeeps are fun and they have a [personality lacking in most other CUVs. My Patriot was extremely reliable, but it was the 2.4/5 speed manual.
  20. Well, it is coming time to purchase a newer vehicle. The trucks are rough on fuel and starting to show their age and miles. My goals are something room, AWD, and fuel efficient. I had an 07 Patriot with the 5 speed manual that I loved, so i figured, why not give the updated versions a tr? it also gave me a chance to tr the only transmission choice i hadn't yet, the 6 speed auto. Anyway, here we go! 2015 Jeep patriot Sport AWD. Options: AC, AUTO, power windows/locks, all weather package (tow hooks, 17 inch rims with Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires, tow package, all weather floormats). 30k miles. The overall condition was excellent, no scratches or dents, and everything was straight. no accidents and no fleet usage. Billet Silver Exterior/black interior. First impression: Getting in I had forgot just how roomy these little utes are. Gobs of head and legroom in the front, surprising rear seat and cargo space. The current interior is heads and tails above my 07 model...... in most respects. The round vents with metal surrounds were nice and clicked as you adjusted them. The quality was very good, and ergonomics were as good as i remember. The seats were considerably thicker and more plush than the 07. The new interior came out in 09, but they have made incremental improvements almost every year since then and it shows. Sure there are some hard plastics, but nothing of glaring issue, especially for the price of the Jeep Patriot. My only issues were with the gauge cluster and steering wheel position. In 14 they switched to smaller gauges, that while having a more handsome design are way too small and much harder to see at a glance than the 07-13 gauges. Second issue was with the steering wheel. It was too close to the dashboard and being a spot, it did not have a telescoping features. This is standard in the Latitude and limited models though. Overall it was easy to get comfortable though. On startup. Ahhhh, memories. The 2.4 is smooth at idle unless you have the AC on and it gets a bit raucous. This is honestly something I figure they would have sorted out by now, but at worst it is a minor annoyance. The air got cold very quick and had no problem dealing with this nearly 100 degree humid day. This is an improvement over my 07 which got cool quickly, but would seem taxed once the temp hit 90 or so with lots of humidity. The structures feels more, more solid than basically anything in it's class. The updates to the suspension made since 07 have paid huge dividends. Neither was the ride rough, nor did it roll over itself in curves. You listening Honda? I really enjoyed this MUCH more than the 15 CR-V I have driven. Power could be better as ithe 2.4 is still a bit soft in thee low ranger, once moving though it is fine with decent mid-range and top end. You won't win any races though lol. Overall it was very solid and surprisingly quiet. Thank you Jeep for adding additional sound deadening! Oh, the 6 speed auto is only 1000 times better than the CVT. it was smooth, the engine never sounded gruff as with the CVT, it knew when o downshift and was always smooth. Still prefer the rather slick shifting manual, but the auto is a much better option now than it used to be. Too bad the off-road package is still saddled with the CVT. Overall: Easy to live with small ute with tons of room and good road manners. It may be lacking a few modern conveniences, but the basics are all very good. Sadly, I couldn't come to a price/payment agreement with the dealer so I am not driving it. I am actually looking at a 200C AWD right now from a couple hundred miles away,. Oh, should have a review of the 15 Cadillac ATS AWD Coupe in the next few days. Yep, my brother's Audi is leaving finally and I can't wait for my turn in the ATS!
  21. Ha, no, I am just being nutty myself. I am literally nutty today, believe me. Doc decided to change my anxiety meds and hearing our eyes mood because o withdrawals does funny things haha.
  22. Just a little exaggeration, you have a bad habit of taking everything too literal....
  23. It doesn't say it is an r version and is half the price of a gt350r or Z28. the original street TAs and Daytonas didn't have that either. It is not a 31k car, that is for sure. Way to play the fanboy car immediately Hahaha Who said it was? It is what, 38k for starters? GT350R is what 63? Z28 75? You said half the price.. Half of $61,xxx(we'll round up to $62,000) is $31,000. You said it was half the price. Hence, 31k. Z/28 isn't currently being made but yes, it is half of what that car MSRP'd for and half the car the Z/28 is too. LMAO, I didn't mean literally. it was a little exaggeration to carry the story along. like when a woman says she has only been with 2 guys in her life, but you went to school with her and know she meant in the last 2 hours.....
