  1. There aren't many of these companies out there trying to go it alone anymore, almost all are niche parts of larger companies, which to me is all the more reason not to tarnish the Lambo legacy with an SUV. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike SUVs and crossovers, I just don't think this is a brand that should be doing them. I know that these vehicles allow for greater profitability, but I think that if you start making volume-type, more family-friendly vehicles like this you diminish the brand and the value of the vehicles you built your name on. It's similar to the argument about the Ford GT possibly being in the $400k range, people don't see Ford as the kind of company that should be charging that money for a vehicle, they see them as more of a budget company, cars for the common man. I think something like this brings some of that cars for the common man feel to Lambo and will eventually have people wondering why their spending so much money on a supercar from the same company that they are buying the family SUV from. Even from VWs standpoint, I know they want to be more profitable, but if it were me, I don't acquire a brand like Lamborghini to make them into more of the same thing I already have. I buy them to be what they are and to do it at a high level, if they're doing it right there should still be profit. Can they make more profit there? Absolutely, but that's not what that brand is there for. They have mass-market brands to account for bulk profit, Lambo is meant to be a niche, but a highly desireable niche, and an SUV hurts that desirability.
  2. I feel like the idea of a Lamborghini SUV is just pure blasphemy. It would be like Yugo putting out a hypercar, it just seems like an awful idea. Maybe that's just me, maybe I'm blinded by my childhood fantasies of blazing red or sunshine yellow Countachs and should give it a chance, but of all the companies that have added SUVs over the last few years or are adding them this one makes the least sense to me. It's just the antithesis of what my image of Lamborghini is.
  3. I've always said that the most dangerous people on the road are the ones to scared to drive properly. They may feel like their extra caution makes them safer, but they tend towards a higher number of stupid reactions, and they get spooked more easily, not to mention the way they can bring the flow of traffic to a halt very quickly and unexpectedly.
  4. We actually got in 2 new Canyons today, I may finally get the chance to test them out!
  5. I'm just impressed that since moving over here there has not been a single thread on the level of what Wings and company have been filling MT up with, and also none of the trolling, flaming, and brand bashing that MT was such a hotbed for. I mean, yes, people, including myself, may mention they don't like a brand, but they aren't going out of their way to try and tell everyone the brand is awful, they just allow people to have different opinions. It is really refreshing, seeing adult conversation taking place. Even Casa, though he may still be a little extreme in some of his views, is a much calmer and more concise poster (no offense, Casa, but I think you know that you got right in there with the rest of them on a lot of the over the top arguing over there). It shows pretty clearly that some people were very true in their statements that they were playing to the audience that they had, and not necessarily posting the way they would have preferred.
  6. Yeah, but that's just the light stuff, it's not like you're going all out Celine Dion or anything.
  7. I like the new styling on the Maxima and Murano, but I completely agree that the 4DSC thing is a complete joke, though. I think the idea of it is great, but the car doesn't fit that idea and they need to fix that.
  8. I get that, but as much as I love driving, and especially driving fast, I'm crap with a stick. I've never been able to really tell when I should be shifting, and I get nervous with the extra pedal that I'm going to hit the wrong one at the wrong time or something. So, even if it wasn't as great an automatic as it is, I'd still have to go for the auto. I had a girlfriend once who was trying to teach me to drive a stick better and she kept telling me to listen and I would hear when to shift, but I could never hear a danged thing. I was very thankful for the dash light on her car that told me when to shift.
  9. Off topic, sorry, but I always really liked Myrtle Beach. When I was in the Army at Ft. Bragg we went down there quite a bit for concerts at the House of Blues. That place gets especially packed during their bike weeks. It's a bit weird ordering drinks at a restaurant down there, though, because they can't keep the big bottles and just pour like you would expect from the bar, they have to bring the little airline sized bottles to your table and make it all (or at least they did). Back on topic: Sounds like your car is improving well, and wasn't too shabby to begin with. Good luck hitting that 100, it sounds like it should definitely be doable.
  10. This is good news for the economy, but I wonder if this proposed new vehicle will really be enough to spark sales and make VW truly competitive in the American market. I'm not a fan of their stuff, personally, because I think they lack any sort of style whatsoever, but I also know that is just my opinion. I do, however, feel that more or improved competition is always a good thing. When I was a runner in high school I always posted my best times against the best competition, because they make you strive to be better, and industry is no different. I wish something like this would happen in my area, because the region could definitely use some more jobs.
  11. Yeah, me and my older brother are very opposite personalities. He's the laid-back charmer, while I'm the wrought iron fist of the family. We sometimes don't even understand how that even happened. We both went to the same schools, sure he's 5 years older than me, but still. My brother and I are waaaayy different too, but it was pretty obvious growing up. He was popular in high school and gave my parents hell, I was book smart and dorky, my parents barely had to try. I get personality differences completely, those are definitely to be expected, but I would think things like parenting are largely learned from our parents, and my sister definitely did not learn her parenting there, or anywhere else from our childhood based on her way of doing things. Even Al Bundy was a better example than whatever she has chosen to follow. My brother's a parent, and he's also way different than my parents were and how I intend to be. He and his wife are parents because that's what you're "supposed to do" after marriage. I WANT to be a dad someday, I'm great with kids and I know when to lay down the law. Yeah, she wanted kids, but I don't think she ever wanted the responsibility that comes with it, and so she has 4 kids and 3 pets and isn't equipped to take care of any one of them. Maybe it would bother me less if I didn't feel it reflects poorly on how our parents raised her and I feel like she should not be allowed to tarnish their reputation because they actually did a danged good job. Oh, well, done venting on that for the moment, I just had to listen to some junk from her this morning "parenting" my nieces that got under my skin a bit, because unfortunately, for financial reasons, our families are sharing a house right now (her and her 4 kids with me, my wife, and my son).
  12. Yeah, I feel a little guilty about the people that have been left behind and are drowning in the sea of the holy trinity's endless trolling without any support, but it's just not worth the effort to get involved. I'm also very wary to invite anyone else over in case someone troublesome ends up coming. I like this place and I don't want a bad apple or two to ruin things.
  13. I completely agree, I was just pointing out which would be the lesser of the three evils. Problem is, if one came they would invite the others and then it would be all over.
  14. Yeah, me and my older brother are very opposite personalities. He's the laid-back charmer, while I'm the wrought iron fist of the family. 15. For a full-size truck in Australia? Yes. Ram will be sending some of their trucks - 2500/3500 models I think - later in the year. You would think with the terrain there that the demand would be higher. But maybe the versatility of the smaller trucks serves them better? Probably fuel prices. The lack of light-duty diesels in most of the 1/2 ton pickups (only the Ram has one) is probably the biggest issue down there. It would be a good opportunity for Ram except they can barely keep up the supply of diesels for the US as it is. If that's the case, the new Titan diesel could be a huge hit if they got it down there. Full sized truck, but not all the way to being a 3/4 ton with a Cummins diesel? That might just hit the spot.
  16. Please tell me that is sarcastic. If we have to take one of the troll triumvirate I would definitely takes Wings over the other two, but then I'd take a bullet to a lung before one to the heart or the brain, as well. There's only so much EcoBoost one man can take.
  17. That is a beautiful vehicle, it would definitely help to change the way people think of Buick. There is no grandparent car image there. If that were to get made it would be nearly as exciting as the Avenir. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but not hold my breath.
  18. I find it fascinating how two people who grew up in the same household, with the same kinds of influences around them can develop to have such drastically different ways of doing things. How on earth did my siblings and I (one in particular) manage to take such vastly different lessons from the way we were raised? Or did the problems come from something after moving away from home?
  19. Yeah, I don't exactly get the complaints with visibility on the Camaro. Looking at the car you should have a good idea what you're getting into. These cars aren't made for utility, they're made to look great and drive even better. Sometimes you have to make a sacrifice for that, such as a little bit of visibility to get a gorgeous looking car. I've never gotten in one and had an issue with seeing anything I needed to see, I think it's just less than what people are used to, and that concerns them, more than it's a case of actually not having enough to be able to drive safely and comfortably.
  20. Make an account, if you even can, and give it a go. You'll be back after five minutes, guaranteed. Five minutes is awfully generous, then again, it may take even longer if you're determined to get a comment to actually post. 10 or so attempts to post and a few minutes later you will realize the futility of life and probably need to start taking an anti-depressant, and that's before you read the endlessly trolling posts of the few people that are left there as they battle it out Thunderdome style to be the last man standing.
  21. See, now, I love some drag racing, and road courses and all, but I just can't do watching ovals. I've tried, but I cannot get into NASCAR, though when I've worked for companies that had cars I did at least watch a little.
  22. If only GnR could have maintained the high level of quality that made the Appetite for Destruction album so amazing. Don't get me wrong, I like Use Your Illusions 1&2 okay, but they were a small step down, and after that they just dropped like a bomb.
  23. I love "Craigslist" by "Weird" Al Yankovic (ccap's post made me think of it). It is the perfect choice of a parody in the style of The Doors (I feel like Morrison would have appreciated Al taking the stuffing out of a commercial entity like Craigslist).
  24. Hooligan
  25. Yep, it's a whole different world here. MT wasn't just playing in a lower league, they aren't even playing the same game as you guys.
