    SRX 1st gen was a wagon. Current SRX might be a tarted up Vue, but clearly the look and configuration is more appealing to the market. CUV's pitch all wheel drive. I think platform subliminally sells too. EX35 was a major dud and had clearly visual RWD roots. FX infinitis did ok also but I do think they were limited in the market because of being perceived more as a car.

    the reason DOHC motors became popular (or at least one of them) was that they didn't display the trait of running out of breath. so if you can limit the valve area and reduce the rpms but still get it to feel like it has endless revvability, more power to you.

    The previous pics did not do a good job at showing the side profile. In profile, it does look a lot nicer. Still think there is not much meat in the rear, but these pics are really darn nice.

    30 mpg and expected to be reliable with a butt load of room inside. Can be had for good deals. No nonsense. No risk means big reward. Is it any wonder they move millions of these?

    ah, i like some of what they are trying here but overall I am not feeling it. I really like the dash. the mazda meets cadillac front end is interesting in the way the grille is presented, but i think the missing eggcrate (even if were subtle) would be helpful. The chrome hoops with swoops that have been on the interior trim of recent cadillacs are now making their way to the exterior. There is some proportioning I don't care for. Hood's too long, rear wheels not back far enough. Sick of the same Cadillac rear end on every car. Wheelhouses dull and not large enough or flared enough. I still like the trunk higher than the hood. And I don't like the trunk shaping here or how very much it tapers. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting in some ways. And this sort of style stretching is what concept cars are for. To be honest this is no better or worse than the XTS concept. What is possibly significant here is the notion that the LTS may have a lot of similarities to this. I think Cadillac can do lots better than this. Getting sick of all these new blunt front end cars that what, the euro ped regs are bringing us?

    Subaru should not change. AWD is the only reason for them to be who they are in the states. Then, Toyota does not have to make AWD too.

    i used to be against separate california emission standards. But if you go back to the notion that we are a federalist collection of states and there should be as little of power and legislation at the national centralized level, then this idea is off the charts bad. And the notion of a national ID? Even worse. This is another path to takeover by the feds which is exactly what our system is designed against. Or supposed to be. The better approach would be for states, under their own choice, to adhere to a nationally coordinated convergence of rules, that would sign on to willingly. Sort of like building codes. There is a national framework that is built up with input from all over, but adoptance is by locality and some amendments can be had. What is it with people striving to create a bigger freaking monster than we already have at the federal level? The beast needs to be starved! Yes, the EPA's and NHTSAs of the world.......... Problem is they tie state funding to complying with these bastard fed agencies.

    i like that a lot. It's like a Fit XL. It has the magic seat. the retracting cover for cargo is cool. a honda i would not mind to drive to be honest.     when i was cruising a dealer yesterday, i saw they had just taken in a fresh trade, an 08 astra 5 door, red, dual panel moonroof, automatic. 44k miles. very nice shape! what sort of gas mpg did you see with your automatic? I was contemplating telling offering to trade them my cobalt straight up.

    that volt sale was subsidized. once the parties that be get their hooks into buying more electrics en masse, all it does is it gives them license to jack up taxes for electric cars and rates on electricity.

    who pays for it, when do you run out of money, it don't grow on trees, except for when you can print it yourself. We can agree there are no absolutes. I Just spoke to a guy who has a Volt for a company car. He is glad the company is supplementing his electric bill as It has raised his bill more than expected. He loves the car but voice a concern that if the removal of coal for generating power is removed how much will it increase the cost of electric power and the cost to operate any electric car. He feels if the cost of electric energy goes up it may hinder any move to electric cars if gas remains stable in price. I thought this interesting observation. that's the natural observation. at some point when they have you by the nuts and the need is confirmed, someone (the govt or the energy providers) are going to stick to you to your threshold of pain. Minneapolis city has had some ridiculous idea of trying to turn power into municipal only and takeover from excel energy. what we need is a system of more competition for energy so there is not 'one source to buy' from for all the energy. having the ability to say 'eff you your rates are too high' would be nice. If you lived off the grid and created all your own power on site with some sort of system, at some point they would figure out how to tax the equipment you have because someone was not getting their cut.

    heard that my state was #4 in the percent of power from wind. there are silly mandates here, and also power here is also 30% more $$$$ than average as well. that really does not bode well for electric vehicle industry in places where mandates drive up the cost or where overall electricity is monopolized by cities or conglomerates. why would one get an electric car if there are no competing forces to keep the cost of the electricity in check? the price of the volt may drop 5k but take the bait and buy one and what's gonna happen in 15 months? Elec cost may go through the roof and your reps will vote in all sorts of new taxes and fees to replace the lack of gas tax you wouldnt pay with elec.

    where i sold vehicles, people would come in looking for their kid's first car, or college students needed a rig just to get around. A lot of people think it's still the days of thousand dollar beaters. the beaters, most of em that you can halfways trust are more like 3! nowadays with used its almost like you gotta spend 5 to get entry level. the cost of entry for beaters is as much or more of a barrier to new drivers than the rising costs of new, although they are a bit related.

    younger folks have no money to pay for living expenses, pay off student loans, anything. Why would they have money for cars?

    we do have to diversify vehicle propulsion beyond gasoline and its inevitable that electrification is part of it. That said, right now, the whole appeal to me of electrification is the possibility of saving my own money on gas. The govt will conspire to make electricity much more expensive over time and in the end will figure out how to get as much out of your pocketbook each month for electricity as they do for gas right now. That is where the outrage should be directed. Electrification's main success in cars would be to allow multifuels and mainly to reduce driving costs overall. The government will look at it as an opportunity to tax the shi-t out of it and rob you of that potential benefit. So the discussion of how much of the development of electric cars is subsidized to the point where economy of scale takes over it pointless and minor.

    i drove through the subie lot today and I've always liked the recent legacy. they have made some subtle but nice improvements. not much bling, but AWD and solid competency for the dough. The mpg is up to 27 combined also. Very spacious ride also. I sort of maybe need to go check one out again.....
