  3. that was just in my mind before I read your post. BINGO. I would do the grille more like the 14 Malibu though. Or the Traverse. New Cruze had better have more leg room in back. Keep in mind the non US cruze hit the globe 2 years before USA. So it makes sense the schedule on this, the question is whether the US gets it ASAP or if the union contracts keep them making it in the current design forever and a day. That said, the current design plus interior redo and a grill redo would work also. I am sensing a move away from some to abandon the forward diving character lines and now go back to a line that is high in front and fairly level or tapering to back. Fusion, Mercedes as examples.

  6. i've had our company's dodge journey quite a few times and have probably logged about 3k miles on it. Nearly all the time I have averaged high twenties with it. Now i would be curious to know the weight diff and such between the journey and ram. i can't help but think the ram will be true to its epa numbers ... there is a lack of torque in the low to mid, and they purposely put a delay on the downshift to force you to wind it up.. likewise it has aggressive throttle cut off and the sixth gear is way high. 1600 rpm at like 70 or something. I wonder how many rpm the ram runs at that speed. I think if the ram engine were retuned, it would haul out harder but of course its tuned for FE. I am guessing the larger displacement and torque tuned 4.3 feels faster on roll on acceleration.
  7. Spark as a plug in commuter is fabulous idea. 84 hp spark like this ICE not good. Spark vs. Mitsu Mirage anyone? Couriers will prob flock to the spark.
  8. bad idea. i really do think they can rid dodge and call it fiat. fiat does not have the history or equity in this country, but sergio wants to move fiat's HQ here so why would they keep dodge to compete? It's got to be an Italian penis wins over an american penis thing. Fiat = small Chrysler = midsize and larger. Ram = trucks SRT = expensive sh1t Jeep = crossovers that try hard to be like real jeeps. the Jeeps and trucks sold here in the US are the only thing that keeps chrysler viable in this setup anymore. No one would give a crap about Fiat here if not for how cute the 500 was. It will be sad if they axe dodge but that is what it looks like they are doing.
  9. 500's or 500L's, the 500L's are new and bigger. Local paper has ad for Chrysler 200 Limited with mnrf in today's paper for 19999. Base Avengers for 15999 Good prices, but won't be worth much when you want to unload them!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Explorer really is the perfect size for a 3 row, aside from those that need hard core 3 row. The Lambadas are great as AWD minivans but you gotta like the size. The Explorer sort of walks the line nicely. More of a 2 row SUV with a backpack third row. Explorer's big flaw is second row legroom. Lambdas second row is tight also, seat is low and footspace is compromised but the Lambdas own the third row.
  14. I really do think its time to separate the electric propulsion from the geek wrapper and get this powertrain into the next gen Cruze, Sonic, Equinox, Trax, and Malibu. We have a Spark EV but that doesn't have a generator. you just get the feeling that electric either has to take off or die. One or the other. All I know is the Prius is a turd in comparison. A real coupe wrapper like the code 130 would be neat for this thing.

  16. i finally drove an Impala with the 3.6. I found a 12 LS. Interesting, the powertrain is good but man the rest of the car is hard to get wow about.....
  17. tested 2013 Chevy Volt base, no options. Fairly quick spin HIGHS: Major league and mature electric powertrain Electric motor kick in the pants! Accelerating and passing are nicely done Solid feel ride and handling, stable and secure Jazzy design compared to Prius Superior ride and drive to Prius Very little of the nerdiness of the Prius Hatchback utility for those that like it Cabin is not too closed off, nice view out the front when driving SUper freakin QUIET inside, and just enough powertrain noise to remind you you are in a motor vehicle. Low center of gravity, you can really feel its benefits. More or less to cut to the chase, it's a real car, and a good one when judged by that standard. LOWS Acceleration pedal not linear with power delivery. Makes the car feel slow sometimes. Brake pedal feel and behavior is different and bit hard to gauge small side mirrors Tight rear Rear seats difficult to fold down with headrests etc. some cheap interior plastic, ok, more than some dash design is sort of kit car the touch controls like an 8 year old iPod really are cheesy to a point. I'd prefer a more conventional stack seats don't really feel well made or long term comfy hatchback lid is heavy and hard to use. Heavy car Still enough residual out of the mainstreamness that will keep the car from becoming,......mainstream. There really are not a lot of folks out there that really want to broadcast to the world that they are an envirobanger or a bumper sticker bitch. SUMMARY Easily the best electrified powertrain concept and execution in the business. Sooner, rather than later, GM needs to first revamp the Volt to shed its current shortcomings, but also to wrap it in a more mainstream wrapper......and make it cheaper. Larger perhaps also. The next Volt needs to mature into a sedan option at least, and be packaged and styled like many of the mainstream sedans. To go one step further, GM needs to move this powertrain into its other mainstream cars. Innovation breeds success. GM needs to pull this out of niche and move it to mainstream. That means get the cost down to allow many Americans to have the choice to buy something with Bi-Energy source. If GM does not keep this as the best electric powertrain on the market, it will be game over. Someone else will match them and up them. That doesn't mean it's right for everyone, but within ten years there is no excuse for GM to not move a quarter milliion EREV cars a year. I am not sure I would buy the car or even lease it yet, because of it's residual nerdiness and high cost and lack of typical packaging as an option. I would say all things considered a typical B+ effort. Even considering the lofty innovation.
  18. i stopped by a dealer today (tested a volt) but every time i slip into a new malibu it is more and obvious how flawed it is. To me, it's not a big deal, the car drives really well, and i like the center stack. But there are from a market perspective so many goofs. And perhaps the biggest one. Go sit in the back seat of a cruze and then go sit in the back seat of the Malibu right after.......it's almost the same....... GM is so behind the curve still. New platforms all around for nearly all their products should be the order of the day ASAP.

  20. i don't have an issue with 46k to start. we all know it will be under 40k by the end of the model year when discounts and incentives are in the mix. it's a healthy enough gap between buick + the ATS and this. And it's low enough to compete with the competition. I just hope the rear seat has room.......probably not........... I really do think the V Sport will sell like hotcakes.
  21. sentra has more leg room than the malibu and cruze, that is what is sad. GM needs new platforms with simple wheelbase increments. similar track increments. 98 (spark), 102 (sonic), 106 (cruze), 110 (regal / malibu), 114 (lacrosse impala) then they could get down to putting real efficient packaging in these vehicles. even though once you drive the cruze and malibu to understand the value difference between them, the issue is that from a front side (sales and marketing standpoint) the evidence that the consumer can digest is this. CRUZE = cramped in back but good mpg and less expensive than malibu MALIBU = WTF it is still cramped in back and why the hell is the MSRP so high when I see altimas and camrys advertised at 21k with all sorts of stuff on them.
  22. Chevy needs to do what ford is doing, which is attacking all the mainstream segments with 100% effort. Chevy just is not addressing the markets as well as Ford on most levels. Cadillac should then be doing what they are doing, and not in any way emulate Lincoln. Buick / GMC is a bit of a tweener........... You could say Buick should die, but there is always someone who won't want a chevy but still stay GM. Ford is precisely opposite now. They can grab buyers to compete with toyo honda etc. with just the Ford product. Chevy is improving, but there are still GM fans and non GM fans that think they can't buy a GM car and go with chevy. They need the Buick or Caddy so they don't feel like they have second best.
