  1. Updated Chevrolet Bolt: The first vehicle to be launched in this offensive. It will get an updated interior with a more premium dash. too small to be useful to many, will never sell in huge volume at that size. good thing the cheap dash will get an update. Chevrolet Bolt EUV: The crossover-variant of the Bolt, it is about five-inches longer and rides on a wheelbase that has been stretched by three inches. An updated roofline reportedly eliminates the small front windows on the Bolt. The EUV will also be the first model outside of Cadillac to get Super Cruise. how is this a substantial size increase over the Bolt? what is the point? Chevrolet Midsize Crossover: About the same size as the Blazer, this model has an aggressive design and features a low roofline. A pair of 18-inch multimedia displays dominate the interior. May actually have a chance as a volume model. As long as it is as big as the Blazer or Edge and not the size the of the Equinox but labelled 'midsize'. Chevrolet Full-Size Truck: This was the model only shown in digital renderings according to those who were at the event. It will complement the Silverado and be aimed at those who want something to be used on a job site - not like the upcoming GMC Hummer Truck or Rivian which are aimed more at lifestyle folks. This model is expected to arrive in 2025. Not sure how this will be received. Seems more like a model for PR purposes rather than for actual sale. Buick Crossover and SUV: These two models didn't have a name and were wearing a design that was described by the Detroit Free Press as a "vaguely European look". May be useful to Buick, same points as the midsize crossover apply otherwise. GMC Hummer Truck: This will only be available in a crew-cab configuration with a five-foot bed. The design will be utilitarian and boxy. Inside, two large screens will serve as the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Don't expect any leather as many of materials used inside will be made from recycled materials. The truck will also have removable roof panels (like the Jeep Wrangler, that can be stored in the front trunk. Simply a PR vehicle. GMC Hummer SUV: Basically the same as the truck, albeit using a shorter wheelbase. PR vehicle, won't add to market share. Cadillac Lyriq: We have seen teasers of this model last year and Cadillac dropped another this week showing off the silhouette - reminding us some crossovers from Jaguar and Porsche. The vehicle is wide and rides on 23-inch wheels. Size-wise, it is similar to the XT5. The interior boasts a 34-inch-wide high-def screen and seating for four, though the production model may have seating for five. Cadillac's excuse for not providing a knockout XT6 or a new XT5 is what this will be. Then they can say they ran out of cash to make replacements for the XT5 and XT6. Cadillac Celestiq: A new four-door flagship sedan that has a long front end and a fastback rear according to those who saw the clay model. It will be hand-built and carry a six-figure pricetag. Cadillac's excuse for not providing a new flagship or keeping the CT6 is what this will be. Then they can claim to justify a low volume electric sedan rather than work to market the most competitive sedan market with the gas cars. Cadillac Large SUV: About the size of an Escalade, it be complementary vehicle to it. The model will have a more traditional design than the other Cadillac EVs. Inside, it will boast large screens up front and three-rows of seating. As long as you still have the Escalade which it seems they are at least smart enough to never get rid of. So, most of this list is PR cars. The chevy and buick midsize crossovers are the only ones that have a chance to become useful daily driver replacements in volume. GM still has to provide resources to refresh and develop new and existing gas models. They cannot stop keeping up with improvements by falling back on some BS about bringing electric vehicles to market, because this list is mostly niche. And even so, what has GM done to help with the charge network? Will these vehicles charge in 10 minutes and have a range of 300+ miles including in a cold winter? SOmebody has to build a charge network, when will this happen GM? It's like building these models is an excuse to abandon development and improvements on the vehicles that still will make up the real daily drivers for most. Where is the Tesla Model 3 or Model S challenger? I am starting to see a lot of model 3's, it seems a chevy sedan with range and space, and performance in the neighborhood of a Tesla but with a better price could be a car that starts to turn the market to electrics. I imagine these models are going to be pricey so that is the strategy, not try to move electric to the mainstream....sell high priced models to help pay for incremental development of electric drives and chassis, just to claim you are woke and on the leading edge. We won't see any movement to provide that charge network in convenient ways like now until the masses get into electric. And generally, if you build the road first, then the growth happens. The charge network / convenient charging is the road, that is what actually needs to be known first, when is this charge network built and where. There is no plan / no road to speak of. If the road is not there, then don't expect any demand.
  2. you're in Florida, used cars are cheaper there. Also, there are always a good supply of used Cadillac / lease returns because Cadillac sells well in FL. Believe me I know because when i look for used cars I seach nationwide. FL is a great place to find good used car prices. Up here in MN the same car is often 2-3 grand or so more. That said, I have even noticed the CT6 prices are dropping quite a bit lately. It must be due to that the first wave of the 3 year lease cycles are hitting the market. It's rather strange but the newer model year XTS are not that much cheaper than the CT6 right now. If you do find a really cheap XTS from 2017-up its generally either white or silver and probably has the black death interior.
  3. i consider the 2010-2016 the previous generation and 2017-2019 the current gen. As nice as the previous gen was, If i look for any LaCrosses for mom it would be current gen, 2017-2019. "A lot of 2013-17 Lacrosse models are on sale" 2013-2017 straddles 2 generations of LaCrosse. technically.
  4. I’m beginning to think I tell mom to get a latest version LaCrosse instead. I am gonna go check out an X1 one of these days also. If she could actually climb into one, an Envision would be perfect for her. The Encore would likely be fine but she’d think it to be a bit small.

  9. Coming up later..... Here's some pics. Was shopping for mom. I don't think MOM 'needs' the TWIN TURBO. HIGHS: Lots of extra ROAR and THRUST for the twin turbo vs. the AARP issue V6. Attractive car, take a look at the pictures. Comfortable seating and lots of girth, room, and space. This is how GM used to build a lot of their cars (they don't anymore unless you get a truck). Honestly the car could cruise all day (that must be why they offer Super Cruise). At the same time, it has steering and handling that isn't dead or slow. It has the right amount of reflexes for a non sport model. As with every CT6 I have driven, it drives lighter and smaller than you actually think it would. Big trunk, too. Again, like the way GM used to build em. Really liked the leather and trimming of the seats themselves. Still the glossy GM leather, but its perforated style looks cool here. Awesome dual moonroof, lots of light in the cabin. LOWS: Platinum Panaray sound system is hot garbage. I didn't spend forever tweaking all the settings and testing multiple sources, but seriously....hot garbage. Such a disservice to my Revolution Saints "Rise" album. Also, the bluetooth had stutters when you tried to pause it. I will give 2018-2020 models the shadow of a doubt as i am sure their interfaces were updated. It's a shame that one of the reasons for much higher price for the Platinum vs. lower models being the supposed top drawer sound system; and here, it sucks. Why would you upgrade to a Platinum? No bass, no separation, no highs, no power. I might need to find another one and see if it is as mediocre sound system as this one. I am not sure how much value a certain number of buyers would place on the extra power of the twin turbo vs the regular v6. The twin turbo has a racy snarl, and hauls ass nicely but that snarl will no doubt turn off grandma and grandpa. If they go easy on the throttle, the TT never lets on about its caged roar. The automatic transmission is clumsy at times and in research I have seen that some have had problems with the 8 speed. Just get a newer one with the 10 speed, and problem solved. Again, I question the value proposition here of the higher power motor vs the huge price jump to get it. The non turbo v6 does a pretty good job about being in relaxed mode all the time, so think long and hard about much more you are willing to pay for the extra power. It really is the deal, GM really needs to improve plastics and attention to detail in the Cadillac interiors. Because of the see of taupe, tan, beige in this particular car, it really highlights how blah the plastics are. I can't call them bad, but they clearly are not super luxury either. I like the interior layout a lot but the way GM assembles and details interiors rarely ever has special detailing or awesome textures. I have seen these tan interiors come to life a bit more with some of the pieces switched out to black for more of a light / dark mix, and i think that helps. Maybe the best things i can say is that its a really well done Camry / Avalon interior, or....and I can hear my mom say it......'it's not any different than my car already' (2002 DTS). Which, isn't true by the way....the CT6 interior is nicer than the old DTS and other Cadillac sedans but that is my point here. The two tone tan bath comes off as so much like the tan bathed Cadillacs of the 90's and 00's that it just doesn't make an impression of Cadillac having upped its game with interiors after all these years. Good to see from checking out the new CT5 this weekend that Cadillac has changed up its gauge fonts and touch screen fonts. These on this 2017 still are also the relics of the 90's and 00's. It's a good thing Cadillac has improved the touchscreen controls and interfaces overall on its very latest products. SUMMARY: I really do like the CT6 every time i have tried it. And it is a great car, I would love to have one. This platinum version to me did not ascend to another level of luxury that would be worth stepping way up the price chain for, IMO. Now, buying one used like this after someone else loses their ass on the depreciation? Go for it. Whether you need or want the turbo six is a personal choice dependent on how much you want to spend and if you like the racy sound under hard throttle. The sound system is a serious disappointment. I will need to give it another shot in the future to try to understand why i thought it was so terrible. The 'nice' but not awe inspiring interior you just normally learn to accept as a GM buyer (nice seats not withstanding). I am pretty sure I could drag mom out to test drive this since i have been trying to get her to get a new car for about 3 years now. I am willing to bet she would drive it, think its nice, and then say "I like my car, this isn't any different". Which would be infuriating because it is so much better... But then again, to her for the look and feel, with the usual GM plastics, its probably really not that different. WHich in some ways though, wasn't that the whole point of the CT6? Just give back the large sedan option that Cadillac drivers were supposedly looking for all along? Well it does do that, very well.
  10. If i bought a Cadillac (an expensive one) I would LOVE to have the blackwing DOHC plus 10 speed automatic combo. A CT6 V with the same supercharged small block as the last how many years would have zero appeal to me. The hot V 4.2 turbo to me is the natural albeit way overdue evolution of the spirit of the Northstar motor. Small block has a lot of fans, I just think those are more pony car fans. Hate to see Cadillac never use this powertrain again.
  11. i don't think its so much always about that as much as it is if the customer desires to want it. A turbo eight generates new interest for Cadillac, its something they can market vs competition. It has a power and delivery that are characteristically different than the old supercharged engines. And, they developed the engine, so to not use it is a complete waste. The supercharged motors have a following with people who go the track, etc. so there is some good reasoning to continuing to use those as well. Could just simply be Cadillac doesn't want to spend development money to repackage for use in other products.....at this time. The CT6 cancellation decision was independent of what is going on with the Escalade and CT5. Another possibility is Cadillac simply wants to beta test the motor in the outgoing CT6 to as few delivered units as possible in case there are any QC issues with the new motor. If there are, then there is only a few out in the wild that they need to spend money on warranty fixes for. The new design could be expensive if it turns out to be a defective design that they didn't catch in product testing. I was looking at CT6 v8's on autotrader last night since i was looking at CT6's for my mom. No way she can foot the bill for a v8! A four year old 3.6 version is all that is in her possible price range.

  14. I think reviving the Aspen name would work, also, remember the Chrysler Atlantic? They could resurrect that name for use in a new Chrysler truly full size sedan or 3 row SUV I am pretty sure you saying that just made some marketing type's day over at GM corporate.....

  16. i was suspecting FCAPSA whatever they are called now might try to shove that 2.0 turbo in the Pacifica. Maybe into the Voyager later..... I am going to see, the reason they didn't rush this out, they had to try to get the AWD to work while still keeping the Sto N go. looks like they did it!. Chrysler vans are hugely popular in Canada, this is a great move to keep the interest up in that market. I'm going to have to sit down tonight with a hot towel and fresh mixed big whiskey coke and slowly read through the arousing press release in full.
  17. FALSE, this pacifica owner says the v6 is probably the best one I've driven or had. Who are those losers saying its a sewing machine. YES TO THE ADDITION OF ALLWHEEL DRIVE!! LOve these changes! Spouse didn't want another minivan but these are such great family vehicles! Now adding AWD may just mean I don't need to get a crossover! Since i got the tourx i have had remorse about not getting a higher seat vehicle and was thinking maybe i should trade cars with my wife for awhile. Maybe I look at getting the Pacifica for myself...... Pacifca so far has been the best vehicle I think we / I have ever owned in terms of it being enjoyable and functional. The AWD will knock the gas mileage a bit. But it averages 24-25 summer and 22-23 winter as it is so it will probably get 20-22 with AWD. You said the AWD comes with 'models equipped with the v6'....all pacificas are 6 cylinder.... another reason to love it. no buzzy 4. OHHHH MORE OF A REAL CONSOLE TOO! SWEET
  18. Too bad the CT5 is sort of not attractive. So much else to like about the car. I'd love a CT5-V turbo six regardless. I've had an Aztek I can handle a certain amount of ugly.
  19. the speed of adoption of more electric propulsion on cars will depend more on refueling infrastructure. When we can fill our cars in 5-15 minutes, literally in nearly the same number and prime locations of places where we currently get gasoline, while we stop to pee and grab snacks..... and i don't see jack in terms of that happening in ten years at this time. 20 years out, maybe. Need electrical service and grid and FAST chargers to everywhere where gas is now. And they know this, that is why we are still only seeing incremental technology on automobiles with electric. Battery design will also need more time like that till we get to the point where the battery is not so huge, not so expensive, not so dangerous, and not requiring so much toxic metals from kids in 3rd world countries.   21. this i agree. on the new Chevy Trailblazer it's only got a 1.2 to start with! particularly for a state fleet vehicle that may only serve to be a company car for a desk employee to drive up to meetings and back a handful of times a week.

In the case of the Pacifica being a plug in, now you're burning electric energy created from fuel anyways or inefficient and costly and toxic renewable energy. And storing it in a big ass battery with toxic materials.
  23. in the case of a pacifica, its not worth it for a state fleet to spend 10 grand more, or more, for a multipassenger vehicle.
