Consortium Orders 157 GM Hybrid-Powered Buses
regfootball replied to Derek77's topic in General Motors
totally agree. public vehicles, postal vehicles, buses...imagine the fuel savings! -
i got my note about this in the mail today. problem is, there's nothing i want from GM for us to use to replace the asstek. No minivans or decent crossovers as i just got a sedan for myself. a malibu maxx or equinox is the only thing that might be worth a look, but the equinox interior is so dreadful, i don't think i could handle it. the CSV's are a cruel joke. if i could settle for a sedan. they should have sent me this 3 months ago before i got my 500. the extra GM card cash might have put me in a GXP GP, G6GTP, or Impala SS.

Saab loses $300 million in 2005, report says
regfootball replied to Northstar's topic in SAAB / NEVS
beat me to it. those liberal college yuppies would not 'drive your father's oldsmobile' no matter how hard they reworked the cars. GM is mostly irrelevant to Euro intenders as it is. take away Saab and they lost the very last bit of any cred as a world car company that GM has in the US public opinion right now. Saab caters to the style and fashion crowd. No domestic brand has or ever will have a chance of doing that, except maybe cadillac, and caddies are too expensive. the 9-2x, 9-7x, and 9-5 redux are simply life support to keep the brand stable until GM again decides to start funding products again. Buick and Pontiac would need serious makeovers to even approach the radar of these buyers. it would mean, among all things, ditching the 'cost effetive' pushrod v6's...which any euro intender would thumb its nose at big time. -

for some folks, they don't like Chevy's and stuff and like the euro styled Saab. GM's fault with all its divisions is starving them of new product. if Saab had one all new (not rebadged) model out every year at a minimum, they would have no issues. As usual, the core issues with GM boil down to product, and often times it seems as though their product and content decisions are based upon them being handcuffed from a financial standpoint...for continuing reasons. Cars like the 9-3 are a great alternative to those less than reliable VW's and bland Acuras. If GM cut saab, they would lose all that sales volume, they would not gain any of that back through any of the other North American brands. All the Saab buyers would defect to Volvo, VW, Audi. it would not help them stem losses in their other divisions. -
correction, the enclave is a much MORE USEFUL vehicle.........

Spoke w/Chevy Guy at LA Auto Show - Disturbing!
regfootball replied to bcarr22's topic in General Motors
she may not have known the exact figure but the Galant is one of the biggest sedans in interior space, actually. -
"A five-year-old LS has fewer problems than a new car from Germany," he noted. LOL

agreed. optional AWD would be nice. -
i simply have no need to blow $$$ on tools and such since i drive newer cars that i get more miles out of without fixing. i have no desire to waste my spare time fixing a car. i'd rather be doing something with my girl and my wife. i have no desire to hunt for parts, shop supplies, workable tools and keeping them organized, and my garage is not heated. the lighting is totally inadequate and trouble lights suck. i don't have enough room in my garage to work on anything. i have no desire to clutter it up with more tools than just some basic tools to upkeep my house. tools and tool cabinets cost money. and i don't enjoy taking apart cars. I watched my dad (who was a diesel mechanic for 20 years by the way) overhaul and work on all the family cars over the years. i helped him sometimes. engine work, brake jobs, body work (that really sucks) taking cars into the tranny shop....and the list goes on and on. my car expenses are much more predictable and easier to budget for by getting a newer rig mostly in warranty and getting the best most trouble free miles out of the car. One time a bought a 7 year old car and it turned into a bit of a money pit. instead of the 2 or 300 a month for a trouble free ride, it was just pumping money into the system of mechanics. Would i have benefit by doing any of the work myself? Some, sure. not enough to offset the time and hassle and money it would have taken me to acquire all the tools and parts and not to mention that my townhome association didn't allow folks to be mechanics out of their own small 18x18 garage. you forget, almost no one has a pole barn with extra space to do that stuff. What's a nice air wrench and compressor cost? that would make a few car payments. need any special tools for that brake job? and then when you're talking trannies and clutches and stuff, and front end work, you're likely not gonna do that work yourself anyways. basic maintenance work like rad flushes and tranny flushes are cheap and infrequent. nobody puts their own tires on. and VIOC will change my oil, on my whim, in about 15 minutes, and i can get that done on my way into work on any given day. i don't have to plan part of a saturday for it. had a wheel bearing replaced on my aztek a few weeks ago under warranty. had i needed to do that myself it would have consumed too much of my time. i was in and out of the dealer in about 60 minutes. like i said, like 99% of the folks out there, i prefer to get my work done, and that's why its of more benefit to me the owner or user of the car to return the space to the cab where its much more useful than the once a year someone might have to get to something under my hood. I've had a pretty good track record with my cars overall. Most of them that i bought which were new or newer I've done mostly just oil changes, tire rotations, flushes etc. too. Some of my cars I have not had to spend more than a few dollars to have others do work over the time I've owned the car. The only money I put into my 95 tbird for repairs in 71, 000 owned miles was a battery. no brakes, tires (other than snows) or tuneups or anything. I had something taken care of under warranty (windshield leak) that i wasn't gonna do myself. i owned my tbird over 4 years and aside from oil changes i paid 80 bucks for a battery. And that's right under the hood.

there were AWD dustbusters? btw, i see a lot of dustbusters still driving around. its the plastic panels.
-
i had noneed to work on it. first of all, 99% of america has no pole barn with a hoist. 2nd of all, i don't have tools. i don't waste the money on tools to do something that i can pay someone to do. 3rdly, i never had to have anything done other than routine maintenance. its of more benefit to the user (the BUYER) to give them the space in the cab, than to waste space under the hood for someone who may or may not ever see your car.

Conspiracy Theory & Buickman? What's the deal with
regfootball replied to enzl's topic in General Motors
who's the hot chick standing by the tahoe w/ the microphone? NICE. -
mindless bashing? i showed pics of how the new toyota van is a visual clone of the grandis and that's not bashing, that's merely presenting visual proof. here's some opinion. TOYOTA SUCKS. they design and build well built cars with no originality or style. they show no ability to lead in the design arena, and their management is smug. Toyota has never shown any examples of orginality in design that ere nothing more than discombobulated japanese chimpokemon mental masturbation. have you seen the new Lexus LS? Absolutely horrid. I bet its built great but man, its a mess.

a v8 ohc fit beautifully under the hood in my taurus.
-
its much better looking than a civic or fit. the interior is very nice and euro without going overboard.
-
i think this car would do well here in the US, if priced right.
-
very cool car. PGT's fortunes are riding a lot on this car. Its Euro, without being uptight German. And its quality looks better than older PGTs. I love the face of this car, very distinctive. And the stance is very sporty and aggressive. interior photos km77 this car is WAY cooler than any new VW's. i would even consider this over an A3.

the Lucerne's plastic is still not that good (yes I've sat in it) and even the new tahoe's (upon visual inspection) is not top drawer yet. The Tahoe is a HUGE upgrade, but the upgrade has been overstated in the press a bit. The Lucerne's is not special at all. They still could stand to improve the Lucerne's plastic.
