2007 SATURN AURA PRELIMINARY SPECIFICATIONS
turbo200 replied to Flybrian's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
Saturl will not be able to steal any of VW's clientele. Their target must be the Camrys and Accords of the market. They are lost trying to appeal to VW or other upscale brands; stick to Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan. -
The Aura needs better wheels and piano black
turbo200 replied to Northstar's topic in Heritage Marques
simply put, this thread is rife with gread ideas to make this good, competitive car meet the details it needs to cross the line between nicely done and homerun as far as details are concerned. The number one issue seperating the perception of GM from the competition is the fit and finish of everything. this is the number one issue that detracts a person who has just been in a honda from buying a GM vehicle. The suggested changes including piano black finish/better integrated radio units, better designed wheels, projector/halogen headlamps, AND a 2.4/5-spd combo are not just good advice, they are NECESSARY changes. Take heed GM. -
SATURN AURA RADIATES STYLE, REFINEMENT
turbo200 replied to Northstar's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
to complement GM, the colors of the leather are fantastic and show willingness to take risk. otoh, they still need to learn how to better integrate the climate controls and radio units. look to the accord, camry, and altima for inspiration on how to do those. -
the name of this thread is cobalt sales doing great. in order to make this statement, you must have a qualifier for what you are saying. in the compact class, the civic sells 28k/units a month. that is great. the old cavy sold 24k-32k/units a month routinely. that is also great. those are your qualifiers.saying it did better than 1st quarter doesn't mean much, and doesn't mean it's doing great either. it would be doing great if it could at least be closer to corolla or old cavalier sales. as it is, it's getting its ass handed to it. also, 1st quarter last year was ramp up.

2007 SATURN VUE GREEN LINE HYBRID DELIVERS
turbo200 replied to VenSeattle's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
for quick reference, this vue gets 27/32. if your pricing is right, which i have no reason to doubt it, I think you're right. however, the content also matters. I agree the execution of the Rav4 is better than this. i guess the new vue is not so far away though./ -
SATURN AURA RADIATES STYLE, REFINEMENT
turbo200 replied to Northstar's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
As for the exterior, not much has changed, but details are there that I don't like. I'd prefer body color door handles, NO crappy cheap looking horizontal ribbing in the grille intakes and fog lights, a bigger lower intake opening, and the crease that was just above the foglights on the concept lended a lot of character to the face. the wheels are plain wrong, and other than that, it's fine. The interior did improve, and I will wait to see it in person. I like it. I would eventually like to see titanium in there, that would be nice. -
you're right, a premium generally is paid for the civic. it looks the part, it is incredibly substantial looking from the side profile, as good as a volvo s40, and more sophisticated than even the mazda 3. your complaints about design are very subjective, to me the civic is ultra conservative and doesn't have a pretty face like say the cobalt, but the lines are refined and modern and look like the expensive compact it is. the interior design again is subjective, and in all reality quality and design on the inside are not nearly where they should be in cobalt, not to rag on your vehicle. the cobalt does have a pretty face and a lot of other good things about it and can be had for a cheap price, unfortunately it's a similar position to what the cavalier had, however more refined the cobalt is. the civic interior also has incredible space and quality, it fits, feels, and sounds incredibly rich and elegant. I would say the civic is a great step forward, and the cobalt is at least the same amount forward but probably more. the problem is where the last civic was is much much ahead of where the last cavy was. you guys seem to be inflating how well the cobalt really is doing. in comparison to the civic, cobalt its ass handed to it. NExt time around build something truly revolutionary GM.

unless you plan on rewriting history Zarella was at the top until 2000, or 2001 when Wagoner took over as chairman of worldwide operations. He soon after brought in Lutz, responsible for the best, most relevant and desirable product GM will see in decades, possibly ever. If you don't see this it's because you are out of the loop and not paying attention through all the nonsense you keep spewing.

They cleaned up every Nissan line except for that funky crease going down the from the taillight. However the rest of the design looks hot at this point. Not as dramatically different as I expected, nor does it look amazingly better than Aura, with just a few sportier trim pieces Aura would have this.

SATURN REVEALS SKY REDLINE
turbo200 replied to VenSeattle's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
This thing looks incredible. The smoked lenses on the headlights are a small meaningful change, add to the sinister quality of this car. Looks like sex on wheels. -
2007 SATURN AURA PRELIMINARY SPECIFICATIONS
turbo200 replied to Flybrian's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
too heavy, not wide enough, not frugal enough, but a good powerful combination. the dimensions need to change, and I don't understand what is it that makes modern GM cars so heavy. -
I like the 9-3 line best still, however the Aura is a fine intro.

whoa your thirty! the big 3 0 . well man happy b-day, and having met you, this is especially shocking. hope you have a good one!

SATURN AURA RADIATES STYLE, REFINEMENT
turbo200 replied to Northstar's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
Interior styling is decent, and the quality is there. The colors and wood look good too. I am not impressed with the exterior--it has lost too much character---has been Camry-fied and now looks more conservative than the Fusion, which seems to have more aggressiveness in the front end. The wheels are not great either. It looks quality and luxurious enough to compete with the Camry, Accord, and Altima, but not leapfrog them. -
SATURN HAS AN ALL-NEW OUTLOOK
turbo200 replied to Flybrian's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
I agree it doesn't stand out as much as it could and should, interior-wise and exterior-wise. That being said, I think it will receive attention along with the entire Saturn lineup. Off to look at the Aura now.... -
SATURN HAS AN ALL-NEW OUTLOOK
turbo200 replied to Flybrian's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
without reading the comments..... this is conservative for my tastes, as I was hoping for something a little more daring. Evok let us know what to expect, however, I do think it is decidedly European and looks like an excellent contender against the Pilot. This will steal Pilot's and new Highlander's thunder, especially if the 3.6 engine comes with 270 hp [haven't read the specs yet either, just going by looks now]. It at least looks classy and classic, though its missing that eye-catching element. However, the Euro look combined with the new attention Saturn will be receiving means it will do well. The interior also seems to perfectly complement the exterior--quiet classy competent subtle and quality are what comes to mind looking at it. I am afraid future interiors will outshadow it, but for the next few years this looks very very solid. I am impressed, but the price needs to be the lowest of the three Lambdas, unless Acadia looks even cheaper than this. Price range should be 27k-35k with V6 engine. That would be a knockout. Enclave is the glam queen, and is more interesting to look at. Acadia will probably be my favorite, hopefully. -
2007 PREVUE CONCEPT
turbo200 replied to VenSeattle's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
hey we can agree on something :AH-HA_wink: i agree with the comments that there really is nothing that exudes this much style and sophistication in the 20-30k market. This SUV will rock. It brings Infiniti FX presence with a whole new dash of style to a new market. Amazing, GM. And the interior is sweet as chocolate chip pancakes. -
come on people comment on the ugly chrome bar, it's too damn thick now! the concept was thinner, there was a gap there that made it look much more attractive, a tiny detail that makes a whole lot of difference. an easily fixable trait that unfortunately makes it resemble the Camry of all cars!
-
it's not that it isn't good looking....just not as good looking as the concept even though some detail difference were expected....they dumbed it down probably too much.
-
I just realized the fogs really hurt the Solstice front end along with that el cheapo grille like you talked about bv my car spottings are usually extremely versatile, except not so much on the domestic side. However, today alone I saw a new red Z06...smokin hot Ford GT plenty of Ferraris Escalade on the road S-classes are everywhere now, and they look hot Camrys are starting to show up everywhere too Tahoes are showing up more often
-
okay, f it, even with the lighting like this I can tell I am not going to like the lower intake and the whole bumper----it has crossed the line of blandnessno return unless it gets replaced with the concept version's.
-
how many complaints can we get going for the wider chrome bar before it gets replaced for the concept's thinner bar? seriously, that is really fugging up the front end. It looks like the camry, I agree, but only because of the grille piece, and that is a sad sad thing. I hope the lighting is making the side look less agressive, and the end product will still look strong and racier, like the concept. I thought the ground effects and more aggressive fascias would go----but they're so beautiful and necessary they shouldn't go! I am beginning to be underwhelmed with this car---it seems GM may have robbed it of its character. I will wait for more pictures to make a full decision.

if you can write e-mails as evenhanded and eloquent as your first post then you might win some headway and at least get published. be clear in your message and speak in truth. mentioning buick outsells brands like acura, jaguar or cadillac makes no sense since those brands' cars have much higher profit margins to begin with. the whole point is Buick is damaged, and mentioning they sell 20k more cars than certain brands at prices that are tens of thousands cheaper isn't going to get you anywhere. be clear in what you are asking of them---leverage and to report the whole story--there are many negatives but there are positives to the buick story too

Team America was a good movie, at least to me. I think some of the themes of South Park can be genious though....[shrugs shoulders].....Matt Stone and Trey Parker are behind both.Haven't seen the other movies. I should be watching Into the Blue next. Jessica Alba. oh ya. There's a crapload of good movies at the theater right now though.
