  1. not everything is so rosy with Cadillac: DTS competes poorly against the highline luxury makes, doesn't really compete against anything; there still is no credible S-class competitor along with no coupes and verts aside from XLR; XLR design is getting stale, interior is outdated, engine needs more power in regular and V form to better compete; STS is uncompetitive, needs complete interior overhaul and exterior overhaul as well as increased width and some more interior room to better differentiate from CTS, none of this will happen with expected refresh which we should see a new fascia and that's about it; SRX refresh is coming, we'll see...

the funny thing is with this car there really is no reason to buy anything from caddy above it, why settle for second or third best and not as much style? [referring to STS/DTS]

but at least the door panels finally look really high quality. the controls really are low. it looks hot from what we can see.
  4. I don't know where even to begin with this post, so I won't. I will defend myself by saying first of all you are being too sensitive, second, I am not the one making the news, GM's poor performance is, if you're tired of it, blame it on them, not me for pointing out how poor it is. Third, you are putting words in our mouths. Reread our posts and read what we are actually saying. I agree that a lot of Japanese cars have trouble capturing the design essense that moves people------HOWEVER, big HOWEVER, they are catching up in this regard, and I am afraid they are only getting better, and this is just one more blow to GM. GM's cool ass looking cars couldn't get here quickly enough. you are also putting words in our mouths in other ways---your interpretation of our opinions is off base.
  5. I didn't read but just one paragraph of this article. I commend him for the line about the Esclade entering into sight with a roar, and then the sides and rear are like a meow. The front is attractive, very attractive [if a bit too evolutionary]; and then the sides and rear are so plain. They are dressed up nicely, tailored, and augmented with good touches, but the stylists didn't go far enough. Especially when compared to the new Range Rover supercharged or even the older Range Rover.
  6. to me....the altima is more consistent compared to the aura, in terms of design, at trying to be taut, athletic, sporty, aggressive, while looking more modern than ever. The Aura pussied out in more ways than one [i now hate the rear]. Also, the interior of the Altima while not being totally original doesn't sacrifice for cost-cutting like the Aura does in more ways than one again. altima doesn't have aspiration? we must agree to disagree, it's just as aspirational as the new camry, and moreso than the current maxima and any GM mid sedan.
  7. what's this feeling i'm getting. becoming aware of missing couple lifestyle; realizing single status is really a status and couple status really is a status. yes, it is about time i get a girlfriend again. i really am tired of this single crap. wow, that was like a warp. been alone too long now, though there have been potentials, nothing i could really sink my teeth in, and had the resources too. i know what i'm spewing.
  8. ummm it's more convincing with the lucerne/sable.... as an aside, I wish GM would make truly revolutionary designs again. Not something that keeps getting done.
  9. awesome! that is a whole lot of units off zeta. I hope this means high expectations, and great model/trim spreads. impala will be schweet!
  10. ah-ha is posting at gmi?! my hat just came off. please post here ah-ha!
  11. thanks a lot to you now. i just spent five minutes of my life looking for that picture only to find a completely unnavigatable format and a lot of wink wink nudge nudge commentary. where have all the real opinions gone? c&g i guess
  12. same question. my browser doesn't ever find its way over there. it's just not necessary.
  13. I believe it's the Camry they are referring to only. Like someone above said, who cares? The interior wasn't an exciting one, but it was pretty good for its time and had excellent quality.
  14. 323 million is much closer to black than 1.5 billion. That's obviously a great figure. More reasons for losses to come (buyouts) and more reasons for gains to come (gmac). profitability seems closer than ever.
  15. ah young'ns. good story
  16. it looks pretty damn good to me. Like the sedan, this car's stance will show itself in person better than in pictures. I can see the IS influence you're talking about, NS.
  17. The driving experience is the one wild card GM has. Past experience is leading us all here to be doubtful, especially because Epsilon and the G6 reference in particular. I hope you're right, for the sake of GM and Saturn, I hope you're right. It bugs me that there is a lot to complain about already on the Aura though. manual/I-4 combo, still only caught up/but not revolutionary interior design, heavy weight, ugly wheels, blandified exterior...you get the point
  18. what could possibly happen with wilmington? it's future seems guaranteed as long as solstice/sky are in production, which will be at least another 4-5 years. I hope GM has come to its senses and approved something more for Pontiac off Kappa, a 2+2 coupe and sedan!
  19. nice rack
  20. I disagree on these points. First, the Lucerne's ride quality is already exemplary, and 22's come standard on the uplevel Escalade--a truck!--and reviews have complemented the outstanding ride on that machine. I don't believe more aggressive rubber would ultimately hurt the ride quality enough to harm the Lucerene--in fact it would be the opposite and help the handling enough to put it above some of its competitors, all while looking stylish and riding well still. On the second issue of people adding 20" wheels. There are those who care to spend the money---and then there are those that just want the car to look good, and would order it from the factory with the better looking wheels, as opposed to spending the time trying to find the right tires with the right compromises, and then there are some that would prefer not to modify thier car at all. Bottom line is, uplevel luxury carmakers are offering wheels this size, and they look real good, why shouldn't Buick?
  21. you're right in so many ways
  22. it would be ludicrous to build the car in germany and import it here. it won't happen. especially because GM could make the saturn compact a very high volume product easily, if the right car is designed of course, and that just wouldn't be feasible from germany. with all the excess capacity here, and the high exchange rates you've mentioned, it just wouldn't make sense.
  23. sts' is actually a decent seller here, though it's most always driven by an older [like 60's] person. an injection of style will help it. hopefully it gets a front clip even better looking and more aggressive than what we were treated to on 60 minutes, it needs at least that. Speaking of Caddy's I've been seeing Escalades everywhere here. I'm tired of the rear clip already though, well not exactly tired, but I am sad at GM's lack of imagination. The 3 year old Rover is so much more imaginative and techy looking than the new Esclade--which looks like they redid the old old Suburaban/Tahoe/Denali/Escalade look from the late 90's. Seriously, I'll do an article about it soon.
  24. for a professional to do it in a hotel room with your co-worker, that's stepping over the line of an addiction if you ask me. at least wait till you're in the shower.
