  1. I hate the idea of increasing fuel tax, because gas prices are the one thing we have going for us in this crappy economy, and when you don't make much money as it is, it's blessing and a relief. On top of that, gas prices will go back up when the economy recovers...so then we'll get $4.00+ gas plus a higher tax. Plus, we all know the tax profits won't be used for their intended purpose, they'll be wasted on pet projects. Also, it doesn't take the used car equation out, because many people, liek myself, can't afford a new car right now, or anytime soon. This is an exampel of people on their high horses thinking one solution works for everyone and don't think about how it effects others that make less than they do. Gas tax is not the solution.
  2. I'd think about it...I mean it's 200 backs. The only better deal I've seen was Sixty8's RoadCrapper because it ran and drove.
  3. This guy is quite a character. He nominated Oprah to replace him.
  4. Hmm, if you could get a transmission for cheap and put it in yourself it would be worth it.
  5. You'd have to be retarded to spend $8k on an old Neon...hell anything over $200 is too much.
  6. Well said on all counts, and some people just liek to whine...especially when it gets political and they don't agree with it.
  7. 8-12 inches of snow predicted so far for Wednesday. However this far away they may up the totals more.
  8. If I were to get one it would be an `02 R/T or a later SXT with the SRT appearance package. That being said, I would skip both and go straight for the SRT4
  9. I agree, I did not like the `03 front ends at al. However the SRT appearance package you could order late in the Neon's life gave it a nice looking front end again.
  10. To be fair, I was referring to the $h!ty one being the L series, and overpriced (not $h!ty) being the current lineup.
  11. GMs Volt may hurt the company short term, but its technology will pave the way for others, and eventually the price will come down to reasonable levels.
  12. Hopefully no one gets offended by this...if so I'll remove it...but the irony is too funny.
  13. :rotflmao:
  14. Silly man, they are Banks, they are the most important thing ever. Plus these money infusions, whose usage is being vigorously tracked, allows the banks to start lending money again. Oh wait...
  15. If the government wants to help 45mpg could be achievable. It's all about getting the funding, which automakers have little of currently. Or magical fairies could drop off 100 billion on each automakers front doors, the meaning of life, and how to get 100 mpg...but I think government aid is more realistic.
  16. WTF? Dude, do you read what you type before you post it?
  17. I agree with a that as well. Let's just pick the highest, and aim for that...without wanting to change it to 600mpg 7 months later.
  18. I said: You said: Then you said: There was only two parts to my post.
  19. I was like as well. But then, I've been shocked several times by multiple people in this thread today.
  20. Saturn built it's reputation cheap, fuel efficient cars with dent resistant panels and excellent dealer experience. Saturn should return to that philosophy or be terminated. This is another case of GM not knowing what the F to do with it's brands. Had the S-series actually been kept up to date and not allowed to rot, followed by a $h!ty Opel and then more overpriced Opels, it would probably be in much better shape...especially when gas prices were $4.
  21. You can do plenty to keep the country safe without resorting to terrorist and Nazi interrogation and prisoner keeping techniques, and spying on your own citizens. Back to the topic At any rate, if the government is willing to fund these developments (25 billion was supposedly already allotted, but I suspect more will be needed) then go for it. However I feel this should wait until the economy recovers and the automakers have some actual cash reserves.
  22. We need to pick one set of emissions standards (the highest, but within reason) and stick to it. Then the government who is so eager to create stricter emissions needs to help fund these developments since they cost big bucks the automakers don't have...not even Toyota apparently.
