Woo hoo! I have another "medical procedure" in my future.... At the NMCOA Mini Meet in Stillman Valley IL, September 27, 2008, I didn't eat lunch and spent the entire late morning/early afternoon walking around and chatting. Late that afternoon, I suddenly had an excruciating pain right above my belly button; that area of my skin was tender and a "bump" of sorts was visible. I chalked it up to no lunch and too much walking around. So, I sat in my '87 MC LS/CL and grabbed a snack and a mint. The pain subsided within 15 minutes ... and I forgot about the incident. That is ... I forgot about it until Wednesday night, February 18. I had just finished watching "That '70s Show" and was reading through one of my forums, when that SAME excruciating pain returned. I knew then that I had chalked the pain up to the wrong thing last September. This time, however, the pain did NOT go away within 15 minutes; it stayed for about an hour. The next day, I called my primary doc and scheduled an appointment for Friday ... during which I was diagnosed with an "Incisional Hernia". Wonderful. I meet with the surgeon (the same one who removed my gallbladder in 2005) in mid-March, right before I head to St Louis for the ValveReplacement Reunion ... and, depending on what the surgeon says, will schedule surgery for this spring sometime. If it all works out, I may be "under the knife" around the time my '87 MC LS/CL is.... http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=28057 This, however, should be a "piece of cake", compared to my other surgeries ... uh, "medical procedures". *nods* And it is gorgeous for weddings. One of my cousins got married on the beach near Fresno in 2003, a few months after my OHS. I HATED flying out, but I didn't have much vacation time, so I had to fly....wish I could've driven out to CA to enjoy the sites a bit more. BUT ... the wedding was absolutely gorgeous ... weather was perfect ... sun ... blue sky ... beach scenes ... rush of the water ... etc......

I guess the first question should be: Do you listen to radio much anymore? With the advent of CDs, satellite radio, iPODS, etc., virtually everyone can create their very own radio station, personalized with no commercials. This means that the "basic" radio stations, especially those that have to air a lot of commercials, are losing listeners. For me, one who loves radio, that is kind of sad...especially since it is kinda cool to hear an older song on the radio that brings back memories, even if the whole world has forgotten. Yeah, it's cool to hear it on the iPOD, too, but when you hear it on the radio, you KNOW you aren't the only one hearing it at that given time.... So ... for those that listen to radio, what do radio stations NOT play enough of? Personally, the more mix the better ... and, yes, that even includes mixing genres (as I did on my radio shows). The lines between, say country and rock, are not as definitive as they once were. I remember in the mid-1990s, when I had my radio show in college, I played Michael Martin Murphy's "Still Taking Chances" ... a song from the 1980s ... and I had a few people call me to find out more about that "new song" and "new artist".... But, since I hooked up my DTV converter box (received for Christmas), I've found myself watching MORE TV ... new AND older shows (mainly the older ones, though) because it is cool to see some actors and actresses "now" and "then" ... especially when actors/actresses are reunited, as was the case when Scott Bakula guest-starred on "Boston Legal". Previously, he appeared on "Designing Women" and "Quantum Leap", but the appearance on "Boston Legal" re-united him with Candace Bergen; both were previously on "Murphy Brown". Other "connecting the dots": "The Dick Van Dyke Show" ... Dick Van Dyke also starred in "Diagnosis Murder" "Mary Tyler Moore" ... featured several stars including Cloris Leachman ("Facts Of Life", "Dancing With The Stars", etc.) and Betty White ("Golden Girls", "Boston Legal", etc.) "The Bob Newhart Show" ... which many years later provided the absolute BEST sitcom ending in history (imho, anyway) when "Newhart" ended with him waking up in "The Bob Newhart Show".... "Cheers" ... Who can forget NORM!!!? Also, Ted Danson (Sam) later starred in sitcoms on CBS ("Becker") and ABC. "Frasier" ...
