*grins* YJ ... I think this is the best part of this post/thread . That is ... interesting. I'd kinda like to see "progress" photos of this being done ... just to see what all they had to do. I know it's weird ... and perhaps a bit over the top ... but this is kinda intriguing to me. Can't explain why. I just wish I would've been able to been there when it was pulled out. The parts that have been treated look better than I EVER thought it would again. I am interested in seeing this finished ... and seeing it wherever it lands ... even if that is at Sixty8's place . Course ... since Tulsa is a part of Route 66 ... it might make a good roadside attraction of sorts.... Amen! I FINALLY was able to see one ... in person ... a few years ago when I visited a guy from the First Gen MC Club in Nashville TN. He had one of these for a brief time; I was lucky enough to be at his house when he had it. VERY cool. LOL! That's fine, Camino ... I won't hold it against you. At least you didn't say you liked a same-year Toyota better than the first gen MC . Well, at least it isn't a re-badged Celebrity/Lumina . *raises eyebrow* Well, too bad you don't have the pics, that would be a VERY rare car... . Which of these 2 MCs were your MC SS Aerocoupe's tailllights more like... http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/mc1981/81MC1007_01_JPG.html ...the '81 MC on the left ... or the '87 MC LS on the right (with wrap-around taillights)? If they were like the '81's, then you had an '86 Aerocoupe. If they were like the '87's, you had an '87 Aerocoupe. NO Aerocoupes were titled 1988 models. Dude! I've been wondering if you had bought that one yet. Sorry about you being out of work come July 1. However, glad the guy will keep it ... and hopefully you CAN buy it at some point later. I know you'd take care of it like he is wanting . SWEET! More and more I've been thinking about getting a G8 ... but ... I really do NOT like sedans. For me (and yes, I know, this is stupid), but sedans are just another reminder of the "family oriented" society we live in. *shrugs* Can't help it. However ... many of the reviews I've seen ... especially the owner reviews and pics and such are starting to convince me I should buy it anyway. After all, I DO have a nephew to haul around now when he is a bit older.... Whereabouts in Chicago? And, if you DO get out this way, let me know...would be great to meet you! Wow ... simply wow. Good thing the injuries aren't as bad as the cars look, for the most part. I only remember a couple collisions, distinctively anyway. The first I remember ... and I was in ... was with my grandmother back in the late 1970s. She was driving me back home in their '72 Impala sedan ... and she rear-ended a car turning left. It was a compact GM, but can't remember what she hit...I just remember the Impala did not have most of the damage . The other collision that stands out in my mind ... was one I was not in. Mom was driving their '76 Monte Carlo ... and got hit in the rear passenger side quarter panel ... spun the car around. Wow ... I really don't know how some of you put in so many working hours. I have trouble with my 40. By the time I get home, I'm so damned tired, I don't want to do a darn thing ... and then I get frustrated for not accomplishing enough. *rolls eyes* Course, sadly, I have to remember that I have never and will never have the energy that others have. So, I tip my hat to those of you who can put in those hours ... and still survive. Cory ... agreed about getting used to it. So many people I know have been laid off. In some ways, I feel a bit guilty for having a job that is stable (for now, anyway) ... yet, I also know how ruined I'd be if I didn't have the job or the health insurance. It is scary out there.... Hey Cory, CONGRATS! Sure is a gorgeous red. My parents have an '06 Cobalt sedan. It's a great car; I don't mind driving it. Same here. Rather, I always say I was born in the wrong decade. I'd love to have been around during the heyday of Route 66 ... and the older cars ... GM, Ford and Dodge.... But, instead, I was born in '73 ... just about at the start of the "downfall", as some say. Ah, well. I suppose this way I have an appreciation for the past that others may not. *shrugs* Indeed. Things are changing everyday. Heck, people who lived here in Elgin just 10 years ago and came back today would not recognize it. Hell, I still live here ... and sometimes I don't recognize it . Camino ... can't say I know how you feel, but I can understand. This whole week has been a "blah" week for me ... and has left me wondering about way too many things.... *sighs* Cort | 35swm | "Mr Monte Carlo"."Mr Road Trip" | pig valve.pacemaker ...RT 66 = Sept 5-16, '09 WRMNshowcase.legos.HO.models.MCs.RTs.CHD = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort "We can breathe again" ... (and) Hmmm....I just may have to pick a weekend to get to MI now yet this year...... We shall see.... And, Cletus ... I haven't decided if I like the change on FB or not.... My first trip to St Louis was WONDERFUL, albeit too short.... But, I WILL be in the St Louis area 4 times this year, as October 3 IS the 3rd annual MidWest MC Gathering (Holiday Inn, Butler Hill Rd, STL, I-55). The other 2 times are the NMCOA MC Nationals at the end of June and as part of the Route 66 Drive in September. I've also since learned that my "other" little sister (a friend's wife whose maiden name is Stevens ... no direct relation, though) is pregnant ... so, I'll be heading to Birmingham AL to see Brandon (from MCSS) and his wife and the new baby sometime in October or November. I will include a stop in the Nashville/Jackson TN area as well ... so it may be "Nashville in November". More details later.... And, if you're interested in connecting with me on FB, you should be able to search for me by Email: faithcubsmc2691 @ aol.com Cort | 35swm | "Mr Monte Carlo"."Mr Road Trip" | pig valve.pacemaker ...RT 66 = Sept 5-16, '09 WRMNshowcase.legos.HO.models.MCs.RTs.CHD = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort "Sweet memories will last for a long long time" ... I'll road trip to the greater St Louis MO area 4 times in 2009; even so, the quick trip I took down there the weekend of March 14 was not long enough. It never is when you are meeting people and "catching up".... Friday the 13th, I went to work for a few hours, came home, picked up the rental (a Dodge Charger, of course), finished packing and left town about 2:10p. I made a beeline for St Louis (via RT 64 W, I-39 S, I-55 S and I-64 W), hoping to arrive for the ValveReplacement Reunion Friday night dinner. I stopped once, at a Shell station in Raymond IL just off I-55. I noticed a "Route 66" historical marker ... so, I suspect I was on Route 66 a bit. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to explore that area ... or any other Route 66 area, for that matter. I arrived in "The Hill" area of St Louis around 7:20p ... just in time for dinner ... and I only saw one police car the entire trip down. I'm glad I rented ... I wouldn't have felt comfortable parking my '87 MC LS/CL in "The Hill" area.... Dinner was DELICIOUS ... and the late night gab session was great ... as they usually are. Then, Saturday, after breakfast and a bit more chatting, I left St Louis around 11a. On the way out of the hotel parking lot (Crown Plaza, Clayton MO), I spotted a silver '87 or '88 MC SS. The trunk was open, but I didn't see anyone around. So, I headed on to Shelbina MO, where I met Randy (from several MC clubs/boards). I arrived just before 2p, via I-170 N to I-70 W to RT 61 N to RT 36 W. Spent about 5 hours there; Randy took me for a spin in his MCSS (first time he had it out this year!) and showed me around town. Later, he got out his RC cars ... and we had some fun with those. After dinner, I left for home, taking RT 36 E to I-72 E to I-55 N to I-39 N to RT 64 E. I left Shelbina ~7p ... and arrived home just before 1a. I didn't have a lot of time this trip, but I tried to make the most of it. I know I missed a number of people in the area, but I'll be back 3 more times ... end of June for the MC Nationals in Collinsville IL ... early September during the Route 66 Drive ... (and) ... early October for the 3rd annual MC MidWest Meet. Sure hope to meet others during those road trips!
