  1. Oh; it’s not ‘rooting’! It’s merely ‘jumping to conclusions’. If a model is discontinued means it must have been making “no money”, therefore, logically-speaking; a company that literally makes no money is facing automatic & imminent discontinuance.
  2. It's the only one that really does sell decently (well; the model 3), but since it makes no money, it's a shame they've come this far but are going to have to close the corporation down.
  3. I have 2 of my muscle cars already. I would certainly entertain a '50s Eldorado Seville and one of the late '50s MoPar supercars, preferably an Adventurer but a 300 Letter Series would be just peachy too.

  5. Dozens of unique vehicles sell less than 30K per year. Volume is immaterial, profit is the prime consideration. But even then: Luckily, Cadillac, and in turn; General Motors, produces dozen & dozens & dozens of other models. Tesla only builds like 11K Model S per year. Course; they don't make a profit... but they're still building the thing. We've read some wags claim that 'Chevy doesn't make any money; too many low margin models' and 'Buick sales are slowing every year; it can't be making a profit' and 'Cadillac doesn't sell 2 million units/year; therefore they can't be making a profit'. Solid, disconnected thinking there, that. Gee, I don't think GMC is making $11 billion in profit all by itself.

  7. That usually entails something on the dash tho, not underhood. If it were otherwise, top lux sedans should be around 1,500 HP by now.
  8. I for one would like to see what ultimately happens with the CT6; Cadillac only announced its production at D-H would end, and they’ve moved a model lines’ production to another plant before. I would immediately have voted to not do the CT4 and put the CT5 & 6 together in LGR. And there’s room for all 3 lines at LGR as it is ( nevermind there being room at D-H). CT6 has been a great success in it’s segment, after a long break of Cadillac not fielding a model there. In some months, audi can only sell about 120 A8’s, and that model’s been around for decades.

  10. Pick-ups don't have platforms, and BTW; there are far more chassis’ under the Silverado than any car or SUV. Nope- foreign brands are just as heavily weighted. Porsche is 72% SUVs by volume.

  12. People don’t know or care about platforms, and they don’t buy platforms; they buy completed vehicles. CT6 -I believe- is handily outselling the audi & BMW in the USDM. You know; the market both you & I live in?
  13. Not seeing that. As [theoretically] more and more subsidizing IC vehicles go offline, the prices of EV vehicles will have to go UP, not down. It's one thing to sell an EV sedan that has limited capabilities, but an EV Silverado wold have to compare to IC Silverados, so the battery packs would be considerable, not only to compare in range & cargo/towing, but also to overcome their own weight. If a 'base SIlverado EV starts at $80K, sales are going to PLUMMET.
  14. I believe the CT6 volume eclipses both the 7-series and the A8, handily. So much for 'it doesn't sell well'..... unless those other two "sell abysmally poorly".
  15. MB has some sort of 'under the table' set-up where half the incentive is factory and the other half goes thru the dealer. At one point the factory was giving like 6K off, but the actual purchase price ended up being like 13K off (s-class).
  16. Has nothing to do with plant space: D-H is huge and BEV production will only be a 1-line trickle. Don’t forget: the CT6 was rumored to die once before.
  17. My father's father had a string of new Pontiacs from their peak years: '55, '57, '63, '66, '69, '72, '75 [then Olds; '82, '89 and Cadillac; '78, '97, '03]. Always new. He passed away in '16. My father got the '63 because he hated his '62 Biscayne, so his father traded it on the '66 instead of the '63. Then dad got a '70 and a '77 [then moved to Buicks; '89, '98, '06]. He & mom have a '12 Cruze now (sold the '06 last year), looking to replace it in the spring. Considering a small CUV. I should see if he likes the Tour-X. The ones from above that I personally knew were the '70 & '77, because dad always ran his cars a long time [the '70 until '80, the '77 until '95]. I can dimly remember grandpa's '72 & '75 [the '75 got totaled in '78], but it's the ones after that I knew well from his cars. The Pontiacs I've had were '64, '64, '65, '64, '65, '66, '65, '60. The first '64 is the only one I still own. But despite the above lists, I gravitated to Pontiacs on my own; my father has never been a 'car guy' and his 2 Pontiacs weren't particularly aspirational ('70 Catalina 4-dr sedan, '77 Catalina Safari wagon).
  18. Yeah- standard upholstery is fine. So is vinyl if its good stuff. Going to do the B-59's interior in something period; '56-59 seems to be my sweet spot for some wild/cool upholstery patterns.
  19. Don't conflate final assembly with the dozens & dozens of sub-assemblies built off-site. Those parts mentioned above have a much greater effect on vendors' and parts plants' workers than assembly line workers.
  20. i LOATHE velour upholstery (and tweed). I'd rather sit on a beach towel over bare springs.
  21. Well, if it takes less workers, logic implies it should take less room, no?
  22. D-Ham is 4.1 million square feet. Don’t electric vehicles take LESS room to manufacture, also?
