^ RE the VentiPorts ~ the hood is stamped/indented where they're mounted (not sure it they're thru-bolted), so it would just look like they were missing.

I like the concept and believe it could be done & would improve image. However, 2000 units is about 10 times what the actual volume would be.

My brother's girlfriend just got a Verano- saw it briefly Sunday. No real evaluation, tho I did stick my head inside and did come to focus on the metal trim on the center stack. First impression was that I was impressed it was 1 piece; no seams. Second is that I thought it was in no way tacky or cheap. Oh, it wasn't CNC-d virgin aluminum, but it was still a nice solid piece of material that looked appropriate in where the Verano is segmented, IMO.

Ahh, these actually sold for $3,000. I was pretty amazed at that, but they are super rare.

Ford doesn't have to print 2 brochures, run 2 websites, have 2 customer service lines, have 2 sets of office personnel or run 2 different marketing campaigns. If it is one brand, they should just have Chevy trucks and a Denali trim option, and close GMC dealerships down. What are you talking about?? Ford prints a brochure for EACH truck line. More than 1 website can easily be run by the same person/team, same deal with 'office personnel' AND marketing campaigns. It's not one brand, but for those unable to wrap their minds around the reality of the scenario, just please imagine it is.

Trucks are simply a different demographic than cars. It's a different type of buyer. WRT Chevy trucks & GMC... don't look at it as 2 different brands that are mostly alike.... look at it as 1 brand with different trims.... THEN look at Ford's truck portfolio.

Agree with ocnblu. I like the blackout exterior, don't mind the louvers, am neutral on the extended RR fender caps, upholstery is tasteful... but the wheels & 'carriage roof' would be a deal killer if I was in love with it otherwise.

nonono- that's 365 HP gross, 235 HP net. I don't have dual TRQ numbers handy, but rest assured the TRQ was well above the HP. Shouldn't have typed it out that way. RECAP~ 1970 : 400 HP / 550 TRQ (10:5.1, gross) 1971 : 365 HP / 535 TRQ (8:5.1, gross) 1972 : 235 HP / 385 TRQ (8:5.1, net)

^ Yep. Cadillac did issue dual ratings in '72. 400/550 was on 10.5:1 CR, it dropped to 8.5:1 in '72. There the ratings there were HP : 365 / 235, so you can guesstimate the net on the '70.

^ Yep, around 750 lbs less. Still, there was NOT a great deal of power difference in the 500 by '76, and the 425 in '78. The last 500 had 190 HP, the 425 had 180. With FI, it was 215 / 195. Most of the issue was the weight : '78 E ~ 4906 lbs. To 'fix' the 'problem', you'd want the 400 HP / 550 TRQ 500 from '70 in there.

The point (since you missed it) is that people STILL are willing to 'look thru a periscope to drive a good looking car'. Hence : Camaro. Fact is of course that modern cars, and here let's stick with the most comparable units; Camaro & Mustang, are harder on fields of vision than their early ancestors. Therefore, even the "less dramatic" Mustang is, relatively speaking, pulling in buyers who are willing to accept trade-offs to drive a good looking car.

I have what would be termed, in nerd-speak, a Paleolithic-aged computer I still use (in addition to my '10 iMac), a '99 PowerMac G3. Yes, it has but a 6GB HD, but it still does what I need it to, and I've CERTAINLY gotten my money's worth out of it. The planned obsolescence of the computer industry never projected this level of ROI. Issue :: the monitor is finally going. It's a Viewsonic G790 18". Within the last year, the picture started flickering down to blackness, then restarting- in the matter of about 5 secs. Now, apparently when it fully heats up, it flickers down to darkness & stays dark. Today I got about 20 minutes of 'on' time. Distressing (yea, I didn't forget; I've gotten 13 years out of it!) Question :: I poked around the net, got either ancient ( ) or variable info on what I need to know WRT getting a compatible replacement. The budget for this is non-existant, I have no problem buying something slightly smaller or reconditioned, but I have no idea what sources are trustworthy. Where should I look?

How did the cube & IQ get into this discussion?? DF's ZTS is no more non-functonal (from what we see) than any other luxury sedan, and the form is striking. That fits hyper's 'unwashed masses' demands' criteria perfectly. BTW, in Jan '12, the cube sold a paltry 461 units. 5500 units/yr is NOT the choice of the 'unwashed masses'; it's being solidly rejected. One can ONLY assume that here, FORM, is a decisive factor.

Circa '84 (what year did they come back?) Eldorado convertible, white w/ red interior, top down, EXC condition, for sale in driveway. '55 Ford F-100, full-on red/rust/patina, driver with current plates.

Some people will balk at a tire over 5-6 yrs old, with the recent spate of 'sky-is-falling, tire-is-old' propaganda, so while I personally would disagree; to some the tire is something they would change out rather than drive on.
