BMW: 80% of 1-series Owners Don't Know They Have Rear-Wheel-Drive Cars
Funniest. damned. thing. ever. SMK is going to sh!t himself unconscious. And I fully content- 75% or thereabouts never press any more handling out of their BMWs than Yaris owners do.

>>"Can't be very many wagons left w/ the 6 though. "<< Agreed- wagons of the '60s (and '70s) have had a disproportionately high mortality rate. Tempest wagons weren't overly plentiful to begin with. 1967 : 3,495 Tempest Safaris, 5,324 Tempest Custom Safaris, 4,511 Tempest (LeMans) Safaris. The fact that's it's a clean, feature-able '67 tempest wagon far trumps the OHC-6 IMO.

Silver Streak
C'mon RJ; don't be shy- tell us what details you see (other than the plating) that make you of the opinion that the car featured is a 'mock-up' ? I'd really like to see what you're seeing.

OK- so what do you think they made 'mock-up's of in 1955 ?

May High Performance Pontiac
Catalina w/ Tri-Ps would not be relatively unusual for '59. Would be more uncommon on a Bonneville, I believe. Tri-Ps sold to performance-minded individuals, and they wanted the lightest car (the Cat). I myself found a Cat 4-dr with factory Tri-Ps on a vintage car lot circa 1985. And it was pink. OHC-6 wasn't rare in the least - it was the standard engine & the only 6 in '67. 21% of '67 Tempests were 6s. Hi-Po Pontiac should know better than this (implication)... Exposure depends on the circles you move in. I've seen far more '59 Pontiacs in person than GTOs & G8s combined.

Well, the Sport package was available on all '71 LeMans', so that it was applied to a 4-dr doesn't surprise me. I almost bought a '71 LeMans Sport convertible, but the buyer decided to keep it. The '59 Cat, '67 Tempest & '69 GP weren't portrayed as 'unusual', correct?

Silver Streak
Nah- that's a real car. Mocked-up clays have 'feet' inboard of the tires to support the structure- that's a real car. Chrome looks slightly strange due to camera, lighting & age of film, IMO... but it still looks real to me. Great design- love the '55s, love the vertical rear fascia, the Silver Streaks, and the subtle fins. Greenhouse is perfection.

May issue of Hemmings Classic Car came today
I'm finding that the vintage magazines, SIA, CA, this one, have already 'jumped the shark' WRT coverage, IE; it's all been done before. Unless they are unveiling design-stage stuff, it's already in print. That's why we're getting vehicles like the '52 Chieftan 4-dr. Not much historically significant there, as opposed to -say- '55...

March Madness 2010
I would far rather watch an equivalent time span of Pontiac commercials.

General historical overview, I assume?? Can't have too many vintage Pontiac articles - will hunt down a copy.

How's the weather?
Jersey saw between 4 & 7" officially. Worst damage I've seen in my lifetime WRT trees down. In general, and as flat as central Jersey is, it was not nearly as bad as the pics above show. Today tho- 66 and sunny- things are drying up surprisingly well. 5.5" (the average) would've been 5.5 feet of snow- I would've made mad money plowing that...

Hmmm- how, umm, long would you say it was ?

The junkyard - part 2
None left in Jersey... well; I should say nothing left with vintage stuff. There are a few late-model yards, but they're no fun AT ALL. That said- I need to go- need a HVAC knob for the GP... plus a radio.

“I would never say we would never talk about Pontiac again,” - Mark Reuss
So 'we' have these Buick-GMC dealers, that used to also carry Pontiac- so they're accustomed to higher product volume. Hypothetically, what would be the business-standpoint arguments against a (hypothetical) Pontiac G8, Pontiac Solstice, Hummer H3T and an Olds Intrique being sold, under those names, in select Buick-GMC dealers ?? I'm not talking about the reality of a closed Wilmington/ discontinued Solstice - I'm asking about selling a few models that are distinct to their brand's ID, under those brand names, even tho their brand names are currently discontinued. Advertising, limited distribution... what are the obstacles ?

Am I alone in this?
Just watched 6 minutes of FMA (referenced on Pg 1)- nice storyboarding, decent backgrounds, but I still find the characters unrealistic (and clearly crossing into overt comedic at times), with marginal illustration WRT realism & detail, and the animation per say lacking (they weren't overly action-related scenes for the most part). For a piece portraying quality in anime, I don't expect to see the 'one sweat drop' gimmick.
