  1. Croc - >>"The hard fact is that he was 7 under the speed limit."<< Correct, and 7 under is NOT against the law. >>"If the police officer says he was impeding traffic, then I believe it. Officers generally don't go around picking on old men for no reason."<< It doesn't have to be 'picking on', dude- and it certain CAN be a judgement call with an appreciable range of legitimacy. Can 1 car truely "impede" 4 lanes of traffic ?? Sounds like a stretch, but like I said- I can't make that judgement from here; I wasn't there.
  2. Interesting to put my theories to the test here- I generally direct the car shopping for her to a point. Her rides: '93 Grand Am, '98 Intrique, '03 GP. Basically, a 'mid-level' GMer. Pontiac is gone.... where will we defect to ?? Malibu is a given- we'll check one out this weekend. Starts @ $21.6K, decent starting point. I don't think I'm going to get 'warm fuzzies' from the Impy. G6 is going to be too small. G8 I will check- hadn't thought about it since seeing a G8 GXP on the floor @ $40K. >>"GMC Terrain SLE-1 2.4L AWD"<< price is OK @ $24K, but sorry; I find it rather hideous. Yes, this is a factor. I'll look, tho. I sure like what I've seen on the '10 'nox- are they @ the dealers now? This may be the chance to do what all of you seem to have done- fritter away time in cars I have no intention of buying. I just don't kno if I could keep the revulsion off my face at the toyota dealer
  3. Here we go- wife & I have agreed it's time to go replacin' ... esp based on the fact I am looking at $4500 for my '94 F-150 (provided we use a dealer who participates, right?) - whose trade-in value according to KBB is $513. That's a travesty, IMO. The F-150 (as sad as it would make me to condemn it to crushing- my only new purchase) would go as the trade toward replacing her '03 GP SE. That's been a VG car and she still likes it, but the mileage is getting where I'd rather she was in something newer, and 1-2 more years withOUT the CARS cash is doing no one any favors here. She's not necc against some sort of smaller crossover/ SUV, but as a rule, they get worse mileage & cost more than a sedan. We'd like to stay in the same size range overall (I'm not against going slightly larger), but we don't want anything smaller. Oh, and there's no foreign makes allowed in this household. SPECS: 4-person family, low-tech needs, performance not a priority, stickers up to $25K or so. She gets about 24 around town MPG (3.1L)- better than that would be great. Questions ~ > Do dealers ever take 2 cars in on a trade, ie: '03 GP plus the '94 F-150 'clunker' ? > Should I be aware of any problems incorporating GM card cash into the deal ($1900) ? Feel free to suggest possibilities (it's always fun to spend other's coin, no?)
  4. Move : bigger shop (w/ grease pit) in drier location. Climate-controlled & mouse-proof. Build a one-off custom and drive it daily. Something fat-fendered, shockingly low and mind-numbingly excessive. I want scrapeage. And replicate a handful of '50s dream cars that are (seemingly) gone.
  5. Right, and that (impedeing traffic) is a judgement call whereas actual speed is hard fact. Given that, it's impossible for anyone not there to assign blame either way without a good encompassing video.
  6. This is the new, efficient way of making a quote. Takes up less bandwidth; it's more cyber-ecologically friendly. It's OK, though, new ideas sometimes take longer for older folks to adopt ... :rotflmao:
  7. 58, even in a 65, is not more than 10 below the limit- so the (lack of) speed is not a legal issue. Only thing left is the 'obstruction of the normal flow of traffic' (hards to imagine on a 4-lane road) or if he was riding in the right lane or not- neither which is clarified in this piece.
  8. What- you're still here, Winnie ?? :rotflmao: I thought you had Big Important Grown Up Things To Do ?? :rotflmao: >>"You should work harder and faster on it, you're losing the race ... "<< I have no hopes of approaching the masterful status of the pacesetter on this one ! :rotflmao:
  9. In this era, we have a few dozen to choose from on this.... hopefully 66 gets a chance to take another view and/or get an ID...
  10. >>"Well of course, why wouldn't you be speaking of my keyboard?"<< But of course; it's only EVER about you. I don't make an incessant habit of assumptions about things I know nothing about. Lil' quirk of mine; I'm working on it. :rotflmao:
  11. I like it; you may have nailed it, cubitar! Round hole may correspond to the fuel tank filler, as the one you posted has it's in the same area. RE: 2nd pic- I don't see the separation between the body & the rear apron in 66's pic, tho....
  12. >>"Mine isn't a qwerty board my KEYBOARD is in a V shape, it's also a German Keyboard. Apparently English is not yours either from what I surmise ..."<< Ah, I see; you surmised I was referring to your keyboard. Excellent Germanic analysis, as usual. :rotflmao:
  13. I can't tell if it's a truck cab, or a 'fordor'- looks like the latter.
  14. >>"Is typing like keying ???"<< Uhh, both use the same qwerty board don't they, or is English still not your first language ? :rotflmao:
  15. >>"I wonder why they went retro and didn't use a current 300C instead..."<< Maybe they wanted it to be both cool & interesting.
  16. I'm out in the yard right now, leaning thru a window and typing this ..... can anybody guess into which room it is and how many sharpened pencils I have in my sharpened pencil tin can ???
  17. Saw a brand new fit on the side of the road, hood up, battery pack charger and cables hooked up, owner standing around looking pissed. :rotflmao:
  18. Like ferraris & lambos- weird ungainly proportions. Or audis.
  19. Red clay G6 is horrible, B&W update needs (all) details refined, the production car is 10x better than either of those, hands-down. Of course, the 'chopped' proportions of the show concept rank over the other 3.
  20. >>"Hyundia quality has gotten much better but no one said they were perfect."<< No, but unfortunately many are saying it's 'good'. I'm saying it's nothing to talk about, period, and there's no way in hell they've improved enough to eradicate the horrible quality streak that colors their short history.
  21. My book agrees with that claim- interesting. Pontiac has had numerous pioneering features. 1958 - first make to move the A/C compressor /equipment underhood (vs. the trunk). 1960 - first integral brake drum/wheel. 1966 - first use of molded plastic for grillework (vs. metal, primairily 'pot' metal). 1967 - first use of 'hidden' windshield wipers. 1968 - first use of body-colored bumpers ("Endura"). 1969 - first use of in-windshield antennas. Quick ones off the top of my head- there's more. Pontiac was also the last marque to stop production as a result of Gov. material rationing going into WW II.
  22. >>"Somehow, I don't think in 40 years we will see yards like this full of Camrys, Accords, and other modern generica."<< That's because unpainted modern sheetmetal wouldn't last 5 years out in the elements- it's all literally paper-thin.
  23. GMTG -- that's YOU !!!!!
  24. From '29 thru '40, Ford could do nothing wrong if they tried, stylistically. The 'regular' '40 pickups are cool, too. I forgot Olds had an A- I don't remember seeing any pics...
  25. Great pics- keep 'em coming ! A lot of the vintage stuff is really pretty bad tho- tough to look at. But that '63 wagon is gorgeous- wagons now are rare enough that I can strongly appreciate even Chevy versions! -- -- -- -- -- 66- WHAT IS THIS to the right ??? :: Fabric roof insert says '30s. Depending on what it is/ body style/ cancer - that's worth some bucks right there.
