  1. The lack of upkeep of vehicles by people now days is deffinatly getting worse. Every once in awhile when the wife and I are going somwhere, we'll take 2 vehicles just so I can follow behind and see how tires look and if anything is flopping around, hanging down, looks wierd, etc. Then switch cars on the way back. And while I may not need to do it this often, I still change oil every 3k miles. Our '07 Aura had 32500 when we bought it, oil life on the DIC showed 55% oil life left at that point. At 40000 it finally hit "change oil". Almost 8k miles and that was only 55% of it! There is no way in heck I'm going to let this thing go 12k-15k between oil changes. That car is on it's 3rd round of oil since we've owned it. I can afford the extra $20 a month.... she drives about 3k a month.
  2. Ya know, this may affect me... while I have a '68 Camaro project currently underway, it's not going very quickly. Basically, if I can't get this thing close to built in the next 3 years, it will be sold. And if I was to sell it, my thoughts were to use that $$ down on a top model new camaro. Hate to see the Z not make it.
  3. Saab is doing nothing for GM, and to have both Chevy and GMC trucks is kinda rediculas. I can see both of them going away. Hummer is pretty much worthless (dollar wise) with today's gas. Might as well just keep Hummer and focus on them making the high price hybrid trucks that nobody is looking at on the Chevy lots (tahoe hybrid). Hummer is a premium truck brand and would make sense to put the high price "premium" hybrid drive in those units.
  4. Ah cool, I used to do a lot of Mtn Biking, here's my old Cannondale super V. Bought it new in '97 (made in USA!). This pics was taken last week. Starting to get back into it again, just need to do some updating on the bike. New front shock and disc brakes are on the list (and rims to accept discs). Just replaced tires with Specialized pro's the other day. Might sell the bike and upgrade to newer though... not sure yet. Daves87rs, where in MI are you located? Were do you Mtn bike at? Loki, thanks! Yeah just finished it off a couple years ago. Has furnace and central air, actually I need to finish hooking up the central air.
  5. That's GM's fault. I never looked at Saturn... ever... until the '07 model year. The Sky and Aura a great vehicles. We now own a Aura XR and love it. Saturn just needs some good marketing. The "rethink American" campaign was a good start but ended as soon as it began. GM needs better marketing as a whole.
  6. 1. No "new" Chev's, but did buy a '03 Avalanche used (can't justify buying new) 2. No... unless my '68 camaro project comes to a halt, then I'll sell it and put that $$ down on a "new" camaro.
  7. Yes the Invicta would probably do great (hope it's not made in China and imported). But as far as sales, Saturn total sales has outsold Buick for both the month of May and year to date (18k to 11k and 83k to 61k respectivly). Rebadge Saturn's as Buick's and Buick could have a great lineup as well. But as of now, Saturn has a better overall line-up. They just need more brand recognition, something GM marketing does a piss poor job of doing. The "think american" campaign was a good start but that stopped as quick as it started.
  8. 1 nope 2 nope Buick has the Enclave, very nice... and the Lucerne, ok vehicle. What else do they have?? (nothing worthwhile). Ditch the outlook, rebadge the enclave as a saturn and do away with Buick.
  9. 1. 0 "new" Saturns - Just bought a used '07 Aura. First time I've ever looked at a Saturn. I also think the exterior is nicer looking than the new Malibu. We love the car. 2. In the next 4 years we will upgrade from the Aura and very well could pick up what will then be a newer Aura. Note: I cannot justify buying "brand new" when a person can pick up a lightly used vehicle for so much less.
  10. Thanks guys... but doens't anybody have any hobbies??

    Idea

A local guy put a hopped up duramax 6.6 in a second gen camaro as a drag setup. Big turbo, propane, the works. Well over 1000 lbs torque.
  12. Aside from sitting on C&G what are your hobbies? I have 2 main hobbies... Winter Hobby, snowmobiling. Used to do more ice drag racing but backed away from that to put some cash toward hobby #2 ('68 Camaro PT build). Here was my Pro-Stock 1000 that I built a couple years back. 1000cc 3 cyl 255hp. Ran 1/8 mile (660 feet) on ice in 5.5 at 122 mph. Not the fastest but respectable at the time. Trail sled '07 Polaris 700. Adding some NOS to it for this coming season. The kit is currently on the bench. 140 hp stock, 150 with pipe and mild upgrades. NOS will be an added 30-40hp shot. video Hobby #2... '68 Camaro Pro-Touring project. Still a lot of work needed. Have finished most of the subframe. Wilwood 12.19" slotted rotors, 4 piston calipers front and rear. 1.125" swaybar, 600# 2" drop springs, relocated upper control arm. Motor will be an LS1 or LS2. Wheels to be the 18" range.
  13. Yeah you can buy similar kits here to add to your existing car. Put water in, it creates Hydrogen and adds it to the gas going into the motor and increases your milage by almost 2x your existing milage. Not sure why th e"Autonomy/Sequel" can run in this manor??
  14. Yup, very true article. I don't believe the exec's are quit as much as fault as Flint makes them out to be, but every other word in that article is true.
  15. Awsome find! Still love the looks of those cars
  16. And ya spotted a maroon Aura XR yesterday! Still can't believe we ran into each other there... good meeting you finally. You guys have a good day of car shoppin in Ft Wayne?
  17. Looks good go me so far... finally a compact car that doesn't look like a cartoon charactor. Well, the current Cobalt doens't look to bad. I like the more aggresive look in the front.
  18. That was an exceptional read! Thanks for posting it. I hope that "gapeing hole" noted at the very end of the aricle is filled soon though!
  19. Toyota outsourcing jobs? Who'd a thunk it??
  20. I hope they ditch the chinese motor and parts
  21. Why not look into some other alternatives. What about a 4 day work week? Or jobs allowing more people to work out of home? I worked out of home for 9 years and drove a Avalanche, now I work 40 min. away driving a 4 cyl alero (still have the Av though). So now that I drive a 30 mpg car as a daily driver I actually use a LOT more gas per year than when I was driving a 17 mpg Avalanche as a daily driver. I'd support a 4 day work week (10 hr days) but can bet that most poeple will freely drive right to the mall on the extra day. I'm amazed at how swamped the local mall gets on the weekend. This $4 gas isn't slowing anybodies spending/traveling down. We are far from any type of recession.
  22. If I don't make very good progress in the next couple years on my '68 project, it'll be sold and the $$ will be put down on a new one.
