YJ, you sound like me when I drove a Dodge Colt. It's a shame this truck has been so bad to you when your old S10 served you pretty well. The good thing is, every complaint you mentioned can be fixed. Every inch of an S series pickup can be modified/improved either through OEM parts or the aftermarket. If you're game, get another daily driver on the cheap, decomission the Sonoma, tear it down, and build it up the way you want it.

It might be the lower control arm bushings. There's a TSB for it. Mine had that issue and I got them fixed under warranty. As for the interior squeak, that might be the rear seat. As a test, go in the trunk and pull the levers that releases the seat backs and allows them to fold down. Drive the car around like this and see if the squeak goes away. If it does, that's another TSB, though if you're interested it's a fix you can probably do yourself, and I can dig up the article on how to fix it.

Without knowing any details on the car's condition, I would say that the salvage value of a '99 300M should be your absolute ceiling, ie what you offer him should be less. Doing some rough calculations using your ZIP code, I've estimated the salvage value to be roughly $3300. I'd keep $3000 in my head and work down from there. Since he's pulling out some parts for himself, that gives you leeway in negotiations as you're not getting a whole car. What is he planning on pulling? Once he's done stripping it, will it have the ALL the parts, mechanical and cosmetic, that you'd want to put in the Intrepid? If you have that info, that would help in shaping your offer.

Is anyone going to bother taking into account that the car market shrunk by 4 million in the last year? Most everything is down, so to condemn the G8 for not hitting its sales projections (which were set before the Great Recession) isn't entirely fair. Lots of cars aren't hitting sales projections, and not just at GM. The fact that the car is doing better than two small FWD cars the likes of which Pontiac will likely be stuck with in the near future, does mean something whether you like it or not.

That's a Mongoose, isn't it? I recognize the frame. I fixed one up for my friend after he found it with a toasted bottom bracket. Look on Craigslist for a great starter road bike. I'd do that over buying one of the newer Made-in-China entry level bikes. Even a steel 10 speed from the 80s will fare better on the road than a mountain bike. If you try to take that Mogoose more than 5 miles on the road, the low gearing will burn your thighs out.

I'll be doing brakes all around within the next couple of months, and I'll change both front struts since the R/F one started leaking after the accident. Is this the red one your grandma had? The auto isn't that bad in it - most of the time it is where it needs to be. There is a HUGE aftermarket for the Cobalt. You can make the car whatever you want.

And, coming from an Ecotec owner, their assessment of the Ecotec's NVH issues are unnecessarily harsh. Listen to a Corolla at idle or an Accent under hard acceleration, then get back to me.

I believe the seller just needs to sign the title and hand it over. Not a big deal at all. Not sure if it's different because it's an out-of-state purchase. I'm assuming he signs the title over, you buy the car, and then have to jump through some hoops with the PADMV to get it retitled/registered in PA.
