  1. theres a local guy with a chevy box work truck that has somehow grafted 68 charger tail lights onto the back of the boxes. it looks pretty trick, yet so out of place.
  2. this may be a dumb question, but why no diesel option for the power wagon.
  3. possibly, i know that mecum has farm days auctions where theres a ton of agricultural antiques and tractors for sale. its really awesome. they have had boat auctions from time to time. i subscribe to their news letter and get emails daily about awesome cars for sale as well as collections up for grabs.
  4. 5 years ago, I went to Barrett-Jackson (Scottsdale) and spent 7 hours wandering around looking at everything...trying to see everything. It's become so huge...I compressed my visit into less than 3 hours this year..the first time I went, 15 years ago, it was a much smaller event... i find it amazing how you can get some screaming deals on nice cars the firs couple of days. i was flabbergasted one year when a droptop 70 olds cutlass with a 455 and an automatic went for $15000. it was brown on brown but was a solid $30k car had it been sold on friday, but it went across on a wednesday and somebody pocketed a steal.
  5. i was curious of that as well. it cant be the posting thing, i was essentially MIA in posts for nearly a year here.
  6. mr regular has an amazing review of the scion xb on youtube and calls out a lot of gripes that generally plagued scion and the designs it put out. frankly im surprised it mad it this long...
  7. oh man what a great race. i felt so bad for the delta wing team though, they showed a lot of potential. GM had an outstanding showing this year. i honestly had hope the ford gt would have had a better showing, but as the way it goes with a brand new car on such a race. chevrolet had the same issues it seems with the c7's and the corvette daytona prototypes. good job honda for an overall win as well. that came as a shock! http://bangshift.com/general-news/car-features/chevy-car-features/how-long-will-chevrolet-chevelle-lagunas-be-underrated-this-gorgeous-1974-model-is-begging-for-repairs-and-the-big-block-it-deserves/ also... mid 70's cars seem to finally be coming into their own...
  8. after the arms race between subie and mitsu ended, i all but lost interest. the wrx just isnt the pocket rocket of yesteryear. while still commanding a premium for nice examples, id just rather have an 00-06 model subie. heck i even love the wrx transplants they do with the forresters.
  9. Jeep Wranglers being one of those vehicles I was referring to. its astronomical that a rubicon tj with less than 70k miles would be able retain 80% of its original value! hence why i just bought almost new instead. just wasnt justifiable. the room in the 2dr jk just didnt justify the purchase for me. my unlimited JK has excellent road manners in my opinion because of the longer wheelbase. its an everyday driver for me. with the 6sp i get on average 19-21 on my commute depending on how conservative i drive it. it also has substantial pep from the v6. the old 4.0's while torque monsters in their own right, couldnt get out of their own way at times. i had a 3rd gen camaro v8 race me the other day(dunno why). i pulled him from the rolling stop and flat out smoked him by car lengths from the light. the JK may nor be a "real Jeep" to some but it Jeeps for me! heheh thats all one jeep buddy has, GC all the way for him. i like turtles.
  10. corvair pickup truck. heard it before i saw it. nice 2 tone red and white scheme.
  11. ever tried to buy a used jeep wrangler in good condition? theres some stellar resale value. its why i ended up with a 2014 unlimited when i was originally looking for a 2004-06 unlimited. i financed probably 5k more for a 1 year old vehicle with 2 more doors and less worries.
  12. it never ceases to amaze me the creativity people have... for better or worse... an el camino from a vega. http://bangshift.com/general-news/craigslist-find/el-vega-mino-check-strange-little-mini-trar-craigslist/
  13. when the super chevy show was regularly making a stop at the atlanta dragways we would go. there was always a guy there with a rally green 69 camaro z28 rs that had the factory cross ram 2 4bbl intake mounted. it was immaculate. the only thing he did was put in a tremec 5sp for hwy driving but the m22 was squirreled away in plastic at his house. i asked if it was for sale and he said of course for the right price. he planned on retiring off of it and had previously declined an offer of 65K for it. for the options on it i feel like he was justified, but he'd have to find a serious collector for the scratch he was wanting for it.
  14. http://bangshift.com/bangshiftxl/ebay-find-this-1978-olds-toronado-xs-is-in-crazy-good-shape-and-is-kind-of-neat/ saw this beast on bangshift.com today. back glass for daaaaaaayyyys. it amazes me how they pulled off crazy shaped back windows back in the day... and also makes me wonder how do they replace them?
  15. i thought it was well played. props. it reminded me of the superbowl commercial nissan did with the racer and his family. in fact i went back and watched that one after this one heheh.
  16. just curious as to the platform this is based off of. it reminds me an awful lot of the south american trailblazer... is there a reason for that or am i just delusional?
  17. frankly its impressive that cars have gotten to this level of performance. i grew up in the 220hp v8 era when buicks were winning stoplight showdowns with their wolf in sheeps clothing turbo cars. the steady increase year after year is going to come to a head. the 94 z28 my dad bought new sitting in his garage still puts a smile on my face and yet it could handle what FoMoCo was dishing out in 99 with its humble lt1 optispark, nevermind the ls1's. but i also remember when the mighty 5.0's were a force to be reckoned with on any day that ended with y. the point is bragging rights come and go and theres always going to be a wait til next year argument. the mustang sounds great looks great, but the camaro wins in my book because i'd plunk money down on it before the mustang. unabashed brand loyalty (which deep down we all have), so what of it? heheh
  18. it could be because i own one, but i am always partial to the angles of these. big muscle featured this one on its latest videos.
  19. That is a really interesting picture, you can see more of the divots in the background on those rails. along those lines i saw this a while back on bangshift. thought it was pretty cool.
  20. while on the way to work today i got behind a warner bros. edition chevy venture. wow....
  21. I just got the renewal notice for the domain name... .and for the first time ever... I hesitated. That's what some people around here are making me feel about my own website.
  22. for me i've always liked the idea of a bare bones utility burban, something that has long fallen off the map for buyers since the 90's. i would like a burban with just 2 row seating with vinyl front to back in the floor, nice durable cloth seats, big honking 6.6 with a shift yourself transmission, and manual shift 4x4 as well. slap some barn doors on the back and some dana 44's front and rear with at least 9" of ground clearance and call it a day.
  23. Huh? How do you know what is perfect for me? i'll bite. i think the OP's objective here was to have an exercise in creativity with a "lego bucket" of sorts from the major manufacturers... as much blind brand loyalty we choose to exhibit, if we are honest with ourselves, theres always going to be some shoulda coulda woulda thoughts on how it would be better. he may not mean he knows whats perfect for you specifically, just that if you had the option to change something you probably would.
  24. I'll bite. I remember a certain discussion years ago actually about the whole dohc vs push rods deal. my basis for push rods over dohc actually comes from when GM gave it a go. My argument had to deal with the LT5 from the 90's model ZR-1 and the LS6 from the 04 Z06. 1995 LT5 5.7L 405 HP @ 5800 RPM 385 FT/lbs @ 4800 RPM 11:1 comp ratio whereas 2004 LS6 5.7L 405 HP @ 6000 RPM 400 FT/lbs @ 4800 RPM 10.5 : 1 comp ratio to me its pretty impressive that they were able to squeeze out identical performance from an engine with the same displacement and completely different layouts. one being so complex i was told by a GM mechanic that they were to remove the engine and send it to mercury marine for service, the other an inherently simple design that has stood the test of time. from what i understood the knowledge gained by the LT5 engines was later used in the northstar engines for caddy. while good engines, they were pretty lack luster stacked against the competition. The LS series of engines have become pretty much cemented in time as a performance power house.
