  1. I love how sony took a stab at them with this
  2. I vote no on that one. 15K would bag a nice peer f-body.
  3. there was a write up actually in either the june issue of game informer or may's issue where they interviewed an indie game company that said he would never make another game for xbla because of how difficult it was to deal with MS. full story here
  4. just saw this article on banshift.com and thought it was pretty cool. never knew gmc made a v12. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We know that these things are basically two V6 engines hitched together (in a common block) and that they are lazy and aren’t really all that hot rod-able. Used in firetrucks, big rigs, to run pumps, and other mundane applications, these behemoth engines made 275hp and 630 lb/ft at about 2,000 RPM when new and we think that they’re all kinds of neat. Sure, sticking one in a car or old truck wouldn’t be for creating some sort of insane running hot rod, but shoehorning one into a light enough car would result in something that should burn tires for miles if setup right. It will also look like nothing that anyone has ever seen before. These engines, as best we know, were made between 1960-1965 by GMC and were advertised at the time to be good for “200,000 miles between overhauls!” in ads. Total production run was about 5,000 units and we have to think that lots of those were run until they barfed parts and were scrapped so if any more than 1/3 of the original production run is around, we’d be shocked. That makes finding five of these suckers in intact condition pretty amazing. It also makes the asking price pretty high. This seller is looking for $20,000 for everything he has. Is that reasonable? Who the hell knows?! It would seem to us that the dude at ThunderV12 could be a prime candidate to scoop these up and use them as cores to build the warmed up version of these engines that he builds. These engines are really neat despite their lack of crazy, fire breathing power. If we had the dough, we’d stick one of these in a build before a snotted up small block just because it would be do damned different! Hiding the thing under a hood and giving people only the weird exhaust note to figure out what it was would be eternally entertaining. http://bangshift.com/blog/ebay-find-five-complete-gmc-v12-engines-702ci-a-piece-rare-and-huge.html
  5. ouch, that's why i'll probably never own another new off the lot truck...
  6. yeap. the local BPGMC dealership in my area not only had a solstice coupe, but there was a loaded white on grey G8 GT on the lot marked down to $26K... I kick myself for not pulling the trigger on that, but with the impala 3/4's through the restoration and a truck that wasn't paid for I couldn't justify another payment. as for the complaints of the SS on my end, it is the powertrain. dollar for dollar the SRT8 is just the better of the two choices to me. as GM loyal as I want to be, its hard to ignore almost a 60hp difference.
  7. actually G8 GT's are holding values very well, at least the prices I have seen. there are few G8 GT's with decent miles below 18K in my neck of the woods. that being said, $45K is used CTS-V money if it was my choice. in fact there is a 2011 model just 2 hours away with 20K miles for $46 and change...
  8. the new charger is mighty sharp. its at the top of the list on sedans in my book, especially in srt8 garnish.
  9. Fisker Karma V8 Conversion Company Has “Hundreds” Of Orders For those of you who follow the green car industry, you may have heard that hybrid startup Fisker Automotive is basically in bankruptcy. Despite being a gorgeous car, the Fisker Karma suffered from subcompact interior room, poor performance, worse gas mileage, and an expensive plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It was pretty much doomed to fail. Which is a real shame, because the Fisker looks great. But what will the hundreds of Karma owners do now that the company that built their expensive car is going belly-up? According to Wards Auto, at least a hundred Fisker Karma owners have approached VL Productions to replace their hybrid drivetrain with a 556 horsepower LSA engine. The VL Productions Destino was originally intended to be a niche within a niche, a vehicle for people who didn’t mind doubling the price of their already-expensive plug-in hybrid and completely negating any environmental benefits the car may have. With the curtain about to fall on Fisker Automotive, however, there has been a renewed interest from Karma owners in the Destino conversion. So believe it or not, converting to a 556 horsepower LSA engine would actually simplify this car, and make it faster and lighter too. The Destino had been slated to get the 638 horsepower LS9 engine, but many buyers wanted an automatic, which is unavailable in a turn-key form with the Corvette ZR1 engine. According to Bob Lutz, who is working with VL Productions, there have been hundreds of inquiries, and over 100 orders. Doesn’t sound like a lot until you consider that the conversion costs $85,000 to $90,000 on top of the cost of an actual Fisker, and only about 2,000 of the hybrids were even built in the first place. http://www.lsxtv.com/news/fisker-karma-v8-conversion-company-has-hundreds-of-orders/
  10. pretty spectacular that they wrung another 100hp out of the 4.3's. i havent read too much on them, are these based on the old 4.3's in anyway?
  11. Be with you always. #!
  12. wow. i didnt know the h3t had the 5.3. i think they are awesome except i cant get past the thought of it being my colorado with a body kit.
  13. thanks guys, much appreciated.
  14. thanks guy, i will. so far dfelt its proved to be garage broken.
  15. I had posted earlier this month about the possibility of buying a honda, specifically a 76 CB750. well, last week i found what i had my heart set on to begin with that fit the budget. a guy 45 mins up the road was selling his 2006 triumph bonneville. its got some blemishes, but he has done modifications to it that i was going to do if i bought a new one later on this year. Its been about 8 years since i had ridden a motorcycle, and this is my first street bike, but the short ride up the street and back felt amazing.
  16. http://bangshift.com/blog/goliaths-younger-brother-a-1972-chevy-c50-pickup-that-is-cool-truck-perfection.html His 1972 Chevy C50 is like the Goliath truck, a custom deal that as far as we can tell never came from the factory in any configuration resembling this. For Jeff’s truck, he started out with a moving truck and took 5 feet out of the chassis in front of the rear wheels, and then chopping another 5 feet off the frame behind the rear wheels. The result is pickup truck length but on steroids due to the sheer size of the wheels, tires, chassis, etc. It’s like a real life Tonka truck. It’s got an 8′ bed on it, big ten lug wheels, fender flares front and rear, and it looks like Chevrolet would have built it, only taller.
  17. yes i do. cause i owned a 1990 example, but the advertising on the side was the correct CI heheh. ford also did the metric thing back in the 60's with the galaxys and the fairlanes correct?
  18. hmm never noticec the 3.8 and 7.4 badges. will have to keep an eye out for those at the next shows i go to.
  19. i went up and checked out the 750. it is hefty as you said. they are selling the bike on consignment for the owner. they actually specialize in british bikes. several nortons, bsa's, and triumphs in the showroom, all priced well above the honda. and while i looked at the t140 they had in the showroom and liked how much more nimble feeling it was, the 70's triumphs ubiquitous habbit of "marking its spot" on the floor was present. heheh. i appreciate the advice guys.
  20. a local tattoo shop's company car is a 64 caddy sedan. flat black with white graphics. really sharp.
  21. there are two on criagslist that i am currently considering. One is this 1975 honda cb360t http://greenville.craigslist.org/mcy/3603971001.html the other is this 1976 honda cb750k http://greenville.craigslist.org/mcd/3589964989.html i have done some research on the 360t because i am not really familiar with that model. it was only produced a few years and other than there being a recall on them for a cam chain tension defect, they seem pretty sound. with only 3000 miles it seems like a pretty good starter bike. However, the parts (some mechanical) are hard to come by and pretty expensive if needed. The CB750 is pretty much a guys fair weather ride. has 23K miles on it. the plus to it is the parts for the 750 are far more plentiful than the 360. the 360 is really all i need plus more falls in line with my budget, but the 750 is closer, and is something i can grow into. anyone got any first hand experience with either or any two-wheeled advice?
  22. "Consumer Reports highlights the Ford Fusion which can come equipped with either an optional 1.6L or 2.0L EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder. In CR's testing, the 1.6L EcoBoost Fusion posted the slowest 0-60 MPH of 8.9 seconds among competitors with naturally aspirated engines: Kia Optima (8.6), Hyundai Sonata (8.4), Honda Accord (8.2), Nissan Altima (8.2) and Toyota Camry (7.7)." they do realize they are testing sedans right? i mean they arent for racing, they are for going from one place to the next... of course the mpg advantage will be less than substantial when you wring out one of these rubberband motors out... it aint what they were made for.
