  1. I completely agree with K.C. The new grille just does not match with the rest of the car and looks like it was just slapped on. The grille looks good on the Fusion and Edge, but seems to clash on the 500. It made this already boring car now hideous. Although the more powerful engine is nice and much needed, I doubt this freshening will do much to help sales.
  2. I love everything about this car. I think Jaguar desperately needs a bold, new sedan to inject some life into the brand. Although Jags from the last 10-15 years were good looking, style wise, they have changed almost too little to tell the difference between one that is brand new and one that is 10 years old. Jaguar needs something different and fresh, a break away from what they have been currently doing to draw attention to the brand.
  3. I am thinking that the number fo BMW owner that will purchase Cadillac is probably about as many Kia owners that purchase a Ferrari. I just don't see it happening in huge numbers yet. I think once the next generation STS/DTS and coupe/wagon CTS comes out Cadillac will have a better chance competing with BMW, offering a similar lineup. BMW owner are just going to be hard to convince to buy a cadillac. Although Cadillac has made vast improvements in the image department, some people seem to be stuck on what Cadillac used to be. I think it can be done, but it will just take a while.
  4. I am still as disappointed now as I was back in 2000. At the time Olds was my favorite of the GM brands and I hoped to own one down the road. To me olds was the only GM brand that offered cars that were my style, the cars were sleek and attractive. I have always had a thing for the first gen Aurora and would have really liked to see what it and the Oldsmobile brand would become. Even though I like the first gen Aurora much more than the second, to me it stood out in the GM lineup and is probably one of the cars I miss most now that olds is gone. At the time of the announcement of the phase out, in my opinion, Olds had some of the better cars GM was making and it was a shame it had to end. I understand why GM chose to eliminate a division, they just had too many, but I personally would not have chosen olds. I am curious as to what cars people chose to purchase when trading in their olds, do they go to Saturn or just end up with some import? Now that Saturn finally has some competitive, attractive vehicles, I think they will be able to better fill olds spot in the GM lineup and they don't have the image problem olds suffered from. Hopefully some day I will find myself that perfect black on black first gen Aurora that I have always wanted.
  5. That's true that leather does not age very well, it has to be consistanly conditioned to stay in good shape. If the previous owners never condition or cleaned the leather it looks like crap and gets hard and brittle. Leather is nice to have when it is of good quality, not like the cheap vinyl feeling stuff in my gp. The thing I don't like about having cloth seats is that you usually can't get heated seats as well.
  6. -Condition of the body, no rust is very important because living in Minnesota it spreads like wildfire, also little or no scratches, dings, or chips. -Clean interior, no rips in the seats, no stained carpet with holes in it. -At least some service records -Tires that are not bald and rims with no curb rash. -Stock rims, I am really particular about what style aftermarket rims I like and would rather pick them out myself. -No ridiculous looking appearance modifications, like huge spoilers and strange lights. -Miles are not too big of a concern as long as the car in in good condition. -All major electronics are functioning properly. -Car must be from a non-smoker. -Car must be black or bright red and have appealing style. -Needs to have leather, sunroof, heated/power seat. -Dark/Graphite interior
  7. I would love to have one of the 200 Silver Arrow Riviera's. I have never seen on in person or for sale except for the brand new one on ebay a while back.
  8. I saw one of those strange looking 80's Grand Prix 2+2 aero coupes while driving down the highway today. It was in average shape and pretty dirty but I don't think I have ever seen one other than on eBay.
  9. Although I really like my 60 gig video ipod, which I found in a junkyard over the summer under a seat, I would just be a little leery about ever buying one. Maybe everyone I know has just had bad luck, but a lot of people I know seem to have been having problems with their ipods. My sister got a 30 gig video one for Christmas and it started freezing up in the middle of songs and the right ear bud stopped working after a few days so she exchanged it for another one. Now the new one she got is having the same problem. The one I have can't be more than a year old and it recently started having trouble holding a charge, which was the same thing that happened to my sisters old mini. The guy at the apple store said that the lithium batteries only last up to around two years and then Apple charges like $70 to get you a new one or something. I do really like the ipods though, for the same reasons as everyone else. They are really easy to use as well as itunes.
  10. I can kind of see why you would crave an older jag. You are right about picking them up real cheap..there is an 88 XJS with only 46,000 miles on eBay with a bin of only $4,900. I would love to have late 80's/early 90's XJS coupe but don't know what I would do if it ever needed repair. You get good looks and a lot of car for the money but like most jags, a lot of costly repairs as well.

    Pictures!

After being a member here for a while now, I decided to finally make my first couple posts. Hopefully I will be able to start posting more often now that school is on break. I figured the photo section would be a good place to introduce myself.
  12. -The car must come in black, or for certain cars, bright red (like my gp). That is one of the many problems I have with the current Grand Prix. -The car must also have a dark gray/black interior offered, for some reason I just don't like light interiors. -Leather, heated seats, a sunroof, steering wheel controls, HUD and a good sound sysem are also important. -I like cars with eye catching styling, nothing that blends in, this is probably one of the biggest deciding factors for me. I have to have a car that I am excited to see every time I drive it, not something dull and bland. -Cars with vast amounts of fake wood grain are cars I stay away from. -Needs to be remotely powerful, enough to accelerate onto the highway without getting plowed over by other drivers.
  13. I have a small collection of several unique automobile related items. An Oldsmobile Final 500 Intrigue pewter belt buckle that was given to employees on the last day at the plant, a pewter model of an Aurora and one of an Intrigue that are in a little glass case that were given to salesmen, a golf ball display that spells out Oldsmobile, 2 Large 2002 and 2003 Oldsmobile dealer albums, several Oldsmobile press kits (01 Aurora, 97 Anniversary, 01 OSV'S, Profile, 01 Full line, and some others), a 6 pack of coca-cola Olds 100th anniversary bottles, and many brochures and a few other press kits.
  14. Since this did not work the first time, I will give it another shot. A little about the car, I bought it in April 2006 after the transmission finally went out on my handed down 94 explorer. It had 102,000 miles when I got it and I am the third owner, it currently has around 114,500 miles. Since today is my only day off this week, I decided it was due to be waxed and spent the morning cleaning it up. I tested out my new camera and the pics turned out pretty good. Hope you like them.
