  1. I actually think the Monte Carlo is somewhat attractive and wouldn't mind owning an SS. Now GM needs to take the hardware from the GP GXP and transfer it to the Impala SS. I would be sad to lose the GP if I didn't know that Pontiac would be getting the G8. Too bad the Solstice GXP will be the only serious performance car in the Pontiac line up now. At least the GP GXP did impress with it's abilities unlike the (2 steps backward) approach of the trim and tack on only Torrent and G6 GXPs
  2. Oh... My... God.... Why is GM whoring out the Super and GXP trims? It's like the SS crap all over again... There should be no 'upper trim' SS just as there should not be crap like the current Torrent and G6 GXPs and there CERTAINLY shouldn't be an appearance package for Buick and the Lucerne called Super. If they do this, they'll damn the Super name before it is even launched.
  3. Excellent post! And bravo GM!!!! It looks as if you're going to turn me into a believer on this G8 topic. I agree... But the chrome is a nice tie in with what Pontiac should've been all along (Referencing the 60's)
  4. I am really falling in love with the new Malibu... It looks to be a homerun!
  5. Biased reporting at it's best. Lame..... So, even when GM tries to innovate and get better mileage out of it's trucks via excess technology that no one but the media and greenie elitests care about, they're still chastised over 4 seconds. Wow! How innovative!! Except Ford had it in the 60s...... Same with the fold and swing tailgate on the Ridgeline!!!! Except GM and Studebaker had it years ago.*** Never the less, GM obviously needs to work on a few issues with the 900s.... Better power and a 6 speed transmission should be top priorities.. I wonder whose idea it was to dyno the trucks... Hmmm... I wonder why the Toyota over performed.... Coincidence? This is how the feature content was SCORED VERSES a diagram of their very own "TOP 8 FEATURES" where the Silverado kicks both the Titan and Tundra's ass. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...1/pageId=118461 Doesn't make much sense to me, how about you? This is Edmunds own explanation of their recommend rating in which the Silverado garnered 100% approval. Shouldn't this basically be an overall indicator of the outcome of the article??????
  6. The Silverado lost by 1.5 points. PS: And why wasn't the F-150 included?!?! Can we only target ONE domestic at a time?!?!? And they handicapped the the Silverado and Titan with 4 door models. I'd say, naturally, a SMALLER Tundra would be faster than that travesty they debuted at Detroit. The Silverado was also further handicapped by the lack of an off road package. So you're telling me that none of Toyotas previous 10 years of trucks have been 'serious' attempts to this company VERY serious about dominating the market and OFF-ING one of the domestic companies?!? *GASP* What's that you say?!?!? Comparing a Toyota, the green company, to a Hummer?!?!?! I think I just heard Prius drivers all through the great state of California (Great?--- Yeah right!) pass out. Oh wait, that's just because their heads grew to large. They're far too ignorant to recognize that Toyota, like every other car maker, is a profit machine determined to supply the market with every LARGE wasteful SUV that it can soak up. Really grasping at straws there, aren't we? I would tend to agree.... My family has owned many Chevy trucks over the years but I seem to find the styling of the new truck awkward and somewhat bland. It is attractive, but certainly not as nice as the Sierra. I'd like to see what these editors think of the new Sierra in this situation... Hell, come to think of it I'd just like to see a friggin' write up on the new Sierra to begin with. The staid styling is an issue though, as I see many younger buyers probably opting for the more aggressive imports and that's not a good thing. You know, those buff wannabe extreme Gen Xers that seem to buy beefed up imported trucks to try to compensate for things such as their effeminate demeanor and, well, you know... So, essentially, they're screwing the Silverado over because they have unfairly tested it in conditions other than this test as well as with multiple drivers. The fuel economy observed for the Titan and Tundra was in a controled manner, the fuel economy for the Silverado was not and that obviously didn't matter here. You can't compare apples and oranges. This is the subjective BS that I am talking about when I say that the domestics will ALWAYS be outclassed by the asians in the media. The Silverado, by their own admission, was clearly the better truck yet the Tundra won on SUBJECTIVE "It feels better" terms. I'd like to see them test a CTS-V with it's obviously more capable classmates and dub it the winner based on it's powertrain alone..... Yet, that will never happen because of its country of origin and the media's predisposition to covet and laude all things from Japan. So, essentially, a notoriously green and environmentally concious publication is telling it's readers that eventhough the smaller truck is the more capable truck, they should rush out and live by the 'bigger is better' montra and buy a hulking Tundra.
  7. So.... The Silverado SCORED better..... Was MORE REFINED.... And was agreed to be the MOST RECCOMMENDED... Yet, didn't win the comperison? WOW! So now the Toyota wins "Just because"?!?!?! [billy bob redneck voice] "It gots more power so that make er a better rig!!!" [/billy bob redneck voice] Of course... We ALL knew this would happen, so get used to it because this WILL be the verdict in probably EVERY compearison. The automotive media has to present a united front to be taken seriously by the idiots that rely on them for buying tips.
  8. 4 out of 10 cars... Not a bad showing for the domestics! 3 asian offerings and 3 European...
  9. Call me sentimental, but I would've liked to see GM get the stake in Proton just to see them get access to Lotus like back in the 90s. But, logically I'm sure staying out of it was the better move.
  10. Such the typical anti-GM response with the prerequisite arrogance thrown in. It's as if you want GM to fail. Since when did you get on the payroll? Anyway, some of us find it a shame that the board is still decorated with inflated egos that really don't matter much in the grand scheme of things.
  11. Either way, this is cool. But, I'm more concerned with what "The mighty Juggernaut" Toyota thinks.
  12. Dumb move... I hate to see GM sell everything...
  13. 7--- Would be perfect as an SS and in my driveway. 8--- Another beautiful chop, and another gorgeous car. But I think it would flow better as a 2 door or full sedan. 3--- The subtle changes make an already attractive car more substantial. But perhaps they're too subtle. I think all of the chops are excellent though, especially these three

    Guns?

.357 is the way to go. Not as big and lethal as a .45 but not as small and useless as a 9
  15. Seems to me that the new Malibu is a little more than a "revamped look" 'bout time Chevrolet was treated as more than a 'catch all' *** I find it funny that Chevrolet is off a bit for 2006 and all of the sudden we have to "jump start" the division. ***
  16. Isn't GM forcasted to GAIN share in NA this year? I can see the headlines now. "Just in time for their 100 year celebration (2008) GM loses to Toyota in the sales race." Thank you media, you're right on track!
  17. I hope they get sued as well... This is certainly a MAJOR black eye for CR, even most of the media acknowledges that. CR also mentioned that this was only the second time they've ever had to retract an article. I guess the Suzuki cases didn't count since they never had to "take back" anything. I can't remember if that issue was settled outside of court or what
  18. LOL... Theres the difference between American trucks and Japanese trucks. American automakers have to recall large numbers to fix minor things like tailgate cables. (Although, to listen to the media, you'd think tailgates were falling on babies) Japanese automakers have to recall large numbers of trucks to fix LIFE THREATENING durability issues. It's so nice to see Toyota getting (some of) it's dues and I'm glad to see they're starting the year off right. Not to mention on Yahoo too, LOL. Maybe Consumer Reports should retract their Tundra quality ratings just like they did the child safety seat findings.
  19. The Volt as well as it's technology should be fast tracked. I'd certainly buy one!
  20. I much preferred the 5 spoke wheels on the street edition... What is it with GM and it's wheel designers??? They ALL suck, especially on Pontiac and Cadillac vehicles. NOTE TO GM: "Sporty vehicles" does not have to equal "Gaudy Wheels with 19 spokes."
  21. I would also be willing to bet that the Lucerne is cannabalizing some of the Lacrosse sales. As it rightfully should since it's a MUCH better car for the money.
  22. Way to dodge the question!! So content makes no difference? The point is simple; the import companies and their sympathyzers (READ: most of the upper american population, including media and politicians) will stop at nothing to make as much money here as possible while at the same time allowing the LEAST amount of benefit to this country as possible. And, in the process, they along with our own restrictive and outdated legislature and 'enlightenment' will cost us more and more domestic business. Japan along with horrible managment has destroyed Detroit and instead of having a little bit of patriotism (Not much, just enough to "care") and trying to at least help our own companies become competitive, we instead decide to add insult to injury by "chasing the money" and doing our best to keep the "Big 3" down while they're weak. It's not scientific, it's an ideology, a construct if you will; PRIDE. This country no longer cares for the success of it's own. But what's the use, I know I'm preaching to the Japan Inc. cheerleaders here anyway.
  23. But haven't you listened to evok?!?!? The automotive industry is no longer relevant to national defense. We have already started outsourcing our defense. The replacement for the Blackhawk helicopter is supposed to come from a foreign company and the pentagon outsources many small components overseas already.
  24. " That quote right there sums it up.... Just Like I've been saying for 3 years now. Toyota has MORE $$$, so Toyota WILL get more support. The days of the american government helping american business are over. Money is politics and it doesn't matter what we the people want and the years and billions GM has invested in this country certainly do not matter either. Don't be surprised if it doesn't just get worse either. And the Toyota PR machine spits out another vanilla, well rehearsed answer. Excellent plan!!!!! If we didn't have a $2000 profit deficeit on every vehicle we sell.... How could someone so ignorant run what was the greatest country on earth? No surprise there, given the tone and subject.
