  1. No domestic will ever touch a Honda, Toyota or Subaru in CR... Their readers wouldn't have it any other way. front tire comment= Gimme a break!!!
  2. First of all, GM has no choice BUT to be a company of bean counters to an extent. They have labor and pension responsibilities so there will always be cost cutting. Secondly... This is the same Cumberford that about 2 years ago told us that the classic muscle cars that go for 1 million on Barret-Jackson weren't "in good taste" and "never really served a purpose" so I'd take whatever he has to say with a grain of salt.
  3. Don't be a sore loser... The new Pilot will be just like the Ridgeline, Civic and CR-V before it... Smoke and mirrors to keep the Honda faithful coming back. Positive press is a given because it's a Honda and the media seems to like to hump Honda emblems. The lambdas, on the other hand.... THEY will bring us customers.
  4. I've gotten to where I really LOVE the looks of the Outlook. That was a friggin' amazing review... I'm speechless. (Imagine that?!?!) Looks like Saturn is in good shape and it looks like the GM truck renaissance is in full swing. Now we just need some competitive cars!!!!!
  5. The Sierra/Silverado short bed measures 6'5", but take another look at the sheetmetal between the front of the tundra's bed & the rear wheelwell- I've never seen a truck with such a short span there. HAS to be much closer to a 4.75' bed than a 6' bed. That's a major F-up. 224829[/snapback] I'm sure it'll be compensated for through Toyota PR (The media) Just like the horrible fit and finish of the Ridgelines tailgate Well, actually, the Ridgeline is a pretty useless piece of garbage but it still won major accolades and you can practically hear the ass kssing when you read the articles about it... So there goes... And I assure you that we'll be seeing A LOT of like this sprinkled throughout the articles to make all the naive americans believe that Toyota actually cares about this country:::::::
  6. It'll be okay... Ford is now, where GM was a year ago. They have some competitive stuff coming out and I'm sure we'll see some positive momentum then. The coldest hour comes just before the dawn I am worried about Mercury though... Everybody (The media, the competition, the analysts) is biting at the bit to see Mercury crucified and I hope that doesn't happen. Afterall, Ford is the only member of the traditional big 3 (or Detroit 3 as Toyota and their minions in the media call them now) that hasn't shed a division in the modern era. Something tells me that making that happen would be a proud moment for many. Toyota will be #1. That's been pre-ordained since the media turned on Detroit (For some unknown reason... It was like night and day)
  7. Looks like the Nissan bubble is popping... Shift_fad
  8. Yep... Just like I said, the Ridgeline isn't sh*t unless the media SPOON FEEDS it to the public. Expect more accolades soon.
  9. Not long.... We all knew this was coming, the writing has been on the wall since the 2001 press push against Detroit. What's even funnier is that I bet it will be CELEBRATED when it happens.
  10. I think this is certainly positive news for GM. GM is (and always has been) heavy on the truck side when it comes to refreshing product so I'd expect to see similar positive momentum when they introduce offerings on the car side that equal the competitiveness of the truck side. Think about it, GMT900 is HUGE and it's really paying off, so hopefully when we see the new CTS and Malibu it'll help get the car side of the business going better. A lot of GM's car offerings simply aren't competitive. Look at Chevrolet, for example... The current Malibu is a joke, the Cobalt, eventhough a 'newer' offering has fallen behind the times and the Impala is based on 20 year old underpinnings. I'd just ike to see the momentum continue for the offerings that are competitive (Aura, Lucerne, DTS) and semi-competitive (G6, G5, Lacrosse) while the new stuff comes out. And just think, the new Lambdas are SURE to give GM a nice boost as well! I just have a couple of concerns now. 1) Can GM re-gain credibility in the car market easily??? Something tells me that it isn't going to be as easy as in the truck market, except for selected entries... But I could be wrong. 2) Can GM reform its car line while not allowing the trucks to become stale? It looks as if GM is finally starting to fire on all cylinders though (After 20 years of sputtering) I agree 100%
  11. Toyotas number PROBABLY include Scion.
  12. Once again, WHY is this concept being universally ignored by the media?!?! An environmental Hummer concept... I guess it might go too far in swaying some of their elitest audiences opinions.
  13. The interior is already getting trashed by most of the media.. Same sh*t, different day.
  14. From Foreign Car & Import Driver: Since when has the SE-R had an "iconic staus"?!?!?!?! Around here they are trailer park queens. So, red accents in the G6 GXP show car were "redneck" and "batmobile tacky" yet they're somewhat acceptable and even applauded in the new SE-R Spec-whatever?
  15. And the begins.... Straight from Edmunds... It even includes the Monte Carlo reference as if he KNEW this design sucked, yet had to compensate for it. Talk about spreading it on thick.... "gorgeous, striking styling' I bet the G6 (Or any other domestic) will never get accolades like that. In fact that's the best "Edmunds take" I've read about the whole show. AND from Car & Driver:
  16. Nice to see it picked up some Bronco concept cues... I dunno though... I'm still a little torn. Why does Ford insist on dumbing down their SUVs with such plain and feminine looking side panels?
  17. The G6 coupe should be compared favorably to this, but I'm sure it won't be. I for one think the G6 is sexy as hell in GTP form. This, however is too 'unfinished' or 'weighty' The proportions look horrible and it almost looks too 'thick' It's hard to pinpoint. I agree with enzl about Nissan as of late... "The thrill is gone" Shift_the Altima with down syndrome
  18. Nope.. Not when you're schizophrenic.
  19. This is a PRIME example of how willing the media is to run a story (FRONT PAGE, nonetheless) without checking any of the facts... If they're dumb enough to fall for this, then what of their credibility overall?
  20. Get it here FAST GM!!! Before the media has time to sabotage it and twist it around to sound like Toyota had the idea. I'm sure the GREENIES will still refuse to buy american... Afterall, it isn't about the environment and it never was. It's about opinion and anti-american sentiment. Detroit is VERY american, and not the NOUVEAU american (toyota, imports are american, buy imported like a good consumer/american) bullsh*t that these people are buying in to and feeding the rest of the naive sheep. These people will never be "rednecks" or "good 'ol boys" or "patriots" as their factions so arrogantly refer to people like US in the PRESS. EDIT: Thanks for the correction. I was low on sleep and high on stress when I wrote this one.
  21. I think it looks alright... I especially like the grille. Again, HORRIBLE photography and a $h!ty color. The rear bumper indention is odd, but cool and the wheels look nice at least.
  22. Oh god, another HORRIBLE GM wheel job... WTF, man... Were the wheels THAT MUCH of an afterthought?!?!?!? "Lets just yank some crappy wheel off the Malibu and slap them on there even though they don't flow with the car at all" Seems like GM could've at least spared the change to machine them (Like the nice wheels on the new Civic Hybrid) They'd also look much better if they were 16 or 17s. And to top it all off the inept GM photographers added insult to injury by shooting UP at the car which makes it look like it has an even larger "lift"
  23. I'm a little torn on this one... It could look bad to me because of the HORRIBLE GM photos or puke-tacular color, but it seems that something else is amiss. The front is a bit too busy, the rear a bit too disjointed and the proportions are WAY off. I'm also a little pissed about the carry-over wheel design. But, the details are cool and the interior looks good. It's just too korean looking for me and therefore lacks the substance that the rest of the new Saturn line has... It's just too soft and a little too quirky for me. BUT, given the ugly assed new CR-V and bland-o-la Rav 4, I'm sure it'll do pretty good in this effeminate niche. Overall, I think it's a very solid vehicle, but I wish it were more to round out the Saturn renaissance. Of course, in person it could be 10 times better. I'm sure the media will kill it though while crowning the new "overbite queen" CR-V as truck of the year.
  24. The article was pure bull$h!. Good thing most people can see right through their bias. My question is; why does GM even give C&D cars anymore. It's BLATANTLY obvious that all they do is take shots at GM's throat. Oh, and NTW, C&D LOVED the original Escalade and Navigator when they first came out, but now they're taking the greenbitch approach. Maybe the editors ARE E.L.F. The Escalade is possibly the MOST justified vehicle in Cadillacs and GMs line up. It LED the Cadillac revivial and still stands strong for the DNA of the division, not to mention it is HELLA profittable for GM. C&D just wants to see them fail, so f*ck them. Here's to hoping they burn in hell someday. ---Signed: TheFOG
  25. LOL... The "Nashville based" automaker. My God, the STUPIDITY continues. Just like the rest of the Nissans now... OLD DESIGN with a little bit of fresh paint. Of course, none of that matters unless its a "Detroit based" automaker.
