  1. I saw a G5 today.... The sedan rear looks good on the coupe, almost better than that of the Cobalt coupe. The front, however, looks cheap and blatant. I didn't care for it too much, but it's NOT a bad car I guess.
  2. TRANSLATION of the article: 1 ) The media tried to kill the G6 because it knew how much potential the car really had, and saw this as an opportunity to try and kill Pontiacs big seller, thus ridding us of another one of those "redneck" American brands. And, oh yeah, BTW, I was right when I said the G6 had tremendous potential. 2 ) GM should've either put MORE money into the Torrent or saved the changes for the Equinox... I'm not sure why it isn't selling better, unless it IS in fact being overshadowed by the much nicer Torrent. 3 ) The Impala is hot.... Always has been. 4 ) The Lucerne has cemented itself as a hit. 5 ) Maybe Saturn SHOULDN'T be Ion-less for a prolonged period of time... As rumored. And maybe GM SHOULD step up their small car program even more. (Where in the hell is the Aveo?!?!?!? The 5-door too?!?!?!? And it's marketing?!?!?!?) 6 ) The PT Cruiser is NOT a fad, like many would like to claim. 7 ) The Caliber is a certified hit... Which would *ALSO* explain why it got bad reviews.... Same with the HHR, which the media tried to kill right out of the gate) 8 ) Ford did and is doing an excellent job proving that if American car makers build a desireable car, americans will buy it, regardless of the ignorant media. 9 ) Ford NEEDS the new Focus and smaller cars such as the Aveo... No better time to cash in but now. 10 ) Toyota's SUVs suck too.... It's not just the Detroit models. And guess what, they're gearing up to build more!!! And finally, looks like Honda gambled well again... What a surprise, they're asian and can do no wrong. (FOG takes a bow)
  3. LMAO!!!! Typical "media" response... I'm sure we'll see the articles citing this THEORY.... Well, unless it were the other way around. Then all hell would break loose with DOOM 'N GLOOM. Yet more proof that GM cannot win the battle with the media and 'analysts' And besides, where is that a bad thing?!?!?! If GM can satisfy anal retentive OLD people, then why couldn't they satisfy LESS picky young people... This is a win... Whether or not the 'Toyota for god' brigade here wants to admit it or not.
  4. LOL... I know! Right?? I just love how everyone here has been conditioned to take a crap on everything positive relating to GM! You know, Lexus, and their PR firm, the media sure as HELL has no problem touting these results around like they're the death of Elvis. But then when WE simple enthusiasts try to commend GM on a job well done, the conditioned 'GM tragedy' people step in and try to ruin it.
  5. 4 domestic brands in the top 5!!!! 7 in the top 10!!! Where are the headlines?!?!?!? Look at how low Honda & Acura are..... And Porsche and BMW. All 8 of GM's divisions are above average!!! (GM should advertise this!) WHERE IS TOYOTA?!?!?!?!?!? OH WAIT... AT THE BOTTOM!!!!!!
  6. I think it's a GREAT ad campaign and I think it should be pushed hard, nationwide. Of course, I'm sure no one would care and I'm sure the media would just destroy it for Toyota.
  7. Actually.... One NYSE share of Toyota actually represents 2 actual shares of Toyota. So, if Toyota's stock is at say $84 on the NYSE, it's ACTUAL value is $42 per share. Of course, most in the media are too stupid to know that and so the story goes...
  8. A lot of GM's new ads are good, if not great.
  9. Just more proof that GM's "damaged brands" still have LOTS of equity when given half decent product... Funny, that the G6 and Lucerne have become such shining stars in the face of all the doom-n-gllom Buick & Pontiac attitudes. As for the Charger... Give me an SRT-8 anyday! As for Mercury... Just as much potential as Buick or anyone else if they had DIRECTION and product.
  10. It's just more SUBJECTIVE crap to try and dissuade people from buying a brand or car... FACE IT: Cars are by-in-large the same these days... Reliable, neutral driving characteristics unless pushed to the absolute limit and overall safe. Therefore, the auto reviewer has to try harder now to make his existence relevant... And that's where the 'feel' and subjective crap that no one else can experience, comes in. And unfortunately, that's where the authors overall opinion and bias shine through the best. "A gritty powertrain." Well, I guess in that case my '73 Camaro has a 'bumpy' powertrain (Cammed) my '82 Toyota has a 'boiling' powertrain (Since that's what it sounds like--a rapidly boiling pot of water) and my '99 Silverado has a 'rock on rock' transmission. (Since it shifts heavier than most automatic because it's built for towing/hauling.)
  11. Has to justify his LIKING for the car with some sort of bull$h! excuse.... So there you have it. If he didn't he'd prolly be fired or something, I mean, afterall the C&D policy is to HATE all domestics right?
  12. Toyota has "war gamed" a way to assist GM... Nice choice of words... Shows the true nature of the company. Of course thye've "war gamed" a way to help GM. 1) They don't want Nissan and GM whipping their ass and 2) THEY want the PRIDE and PLEASURE (of the Japanese people) to destroy GM. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY TOYOTA IS SOOOOO AFRAID OF GM FALLING APART!!!! Is that not their GOAL?!?!?!? To beat/destroy/outsell/kill/out perform/murder GM?!?!?!? MARK MY WORDS: THERE WILL BE NO SOCIAL OR POLITICAL BACKLASH WHEN GM FALLS APART We are PAST that timeframe. The politicians would've acted by now if they were truly concerned about GM -OR- Detroit in general and MOST of this country LOATHES the very ground GM occupies anyway. They've already launched a media-fueled BOYCOTT of GM products for all sorts of stupid and ignorant reasons. Look at the share!
  13. Once again, NO MAJOR MEDIA EXPOSURE... Toyota's flaws will be ignored and the media will structure PR around them... To much is riding on it for things NOT to fall in place. (The ousting of GM, the, LOL, "reputation" LMAO, of the media and the Toyota is god complex)
  14. LMMFAO!!!!!! About the topic though: Another NO exposure recall...
  15. Looks like the WSJ is just trying to get rid of another American auto maker (Like most of the press) Then it'll be easier for TOTAL collapse when the press forces them into bankruptcy in 5 more years. "America's auto problem" What tha FK?!?!?!?!?!? I guess that's how the media refers to it these days... Now that the cat is out of the bag. They want to cut 3 divisions... Wow, the media is so arrogant as to ask for concessions in the battle as well?!?!?!
  16. Oh, how insightful!!!!!!! I just love our "insider" contributions to the board!!!! Anybody here still questioning what side of the fence Hudson is on?!?!?
  17. There's only one problem with that... The issue received NO major exposure at all.
  18. It's close, and nice. But from what I've seen, the actual car (If that's what I saw) is MUCH better!!!!!! Good job though!
  19. WOW!!!!!! Since when did this 'single' turn into a 'grand slam'?!?!?!?!?!? I'm floored!!!!! Everything is excellent! And FINALLY, the attention to detail I've been wanting for so long! I too wished GMC had stuck with "Terra" but the new, more organic design theme stacks up well and it'll probably appeal more to females as well, which is a good thing since they make the majority of durable good purchase decisions now anyway. WAY TO GO GM!!!
  20. NICE!!!!! The small improvements to the interior go a LONG way!!! I'm not sure if I like the new nose; 1) Because it looks a little too busy and 2) Because it's a little too close to V-Series territory. But, I LOVE the new wheels!
  21. From what I've seen it looks AWESOME!!!!! Just what the GMT900s needed!!!!
  22. Naturally! Nissan is "Japanese" P.S. And yes, the new Altima does look LESS redesigned than the new Explorer. Both are pretty lame, but at least Ford changed the overall styling of the vehicle.
  23. I'm not sure if this is a good move or not.... Cadillac SHOULD NOT be "mainstream" and they've already lost A LOT of the confidence and attitude that started their revival. Cadillac should be 'sharp edged-in your face, unabashedly american' innovation and luxury. Their ads should communicate their CONFIDENCE and ABILITY to LEAD the industry... They should NOT communicate 'just another luxury car that is timid in the face of the imports' And FWIW, the Hummer "Monster" ad is nowhere near as good and innovative as the new 'urban techno' commercials or the pedal car/go anywhere commercials of the past.

There was a white Mazda 6 parked beside a white Lacrosse at my place of employment today and it's ASTOUNDING how similar they are in design... I'm not saying this to be an ass or to pan the Mazda 6 (As I think it is as attractive as the Lacrosse-- and yes, the Lacrosse IS an attractive car, even if it's not cutting edge.) I say this to prove the point that ALL cars have become too 'cookie cutter' (READ: Asian influenced) in execution... It's time for Detroit to bring on a DESIGN REVOLUTION and that has already started with Chrysler and Ford. Cars are in creasingly becoming more like a FASHION. They HAVE to have a distinct direction and attitude. That's why the 300, charger, Mustang & Fusion do so well.

I'm going to be really disappointed if all we get is new wheels and tacked on portholes.... (Mechanical attributes aside)
